Now this reminds me of Kid Icarus, where you beat apparently the final boss, credits roll....
Then Hades just tears a hole straight through the credits and reveals himself to be the true villain, and you play through even more game- with far more levels than the first "final" boss.
We usually call those kinds of bosses and scenarios "Disc one final boss" =w=
Starsanity64 Thing is the game is on a single cartridge- and it actually acts like it is the end of the game (until the obvious part a minute or so into credits)
Borderlands 1 did that exact same thing

There is one more level called "Stormy Acent". It's the hardest level and it even got removed in the original crash because how hard it is! Please play it!

Well, that isn't a typo, but rather someone got lazy and didn't program the game to show "box" instead of "boxes" when the remaining box counter was set to 1. Or they simply didn't expect that you would have one crate left so they never thought of adding the singular number.

It's worth mentioning that the 2nd to final room is how you get the real ending, if you perfect all the other stages, iirc. That white moving platform you can jump on and you need the other gems for more platforms.
This is the reason I got into gaming. What you're going through is exactly the learning and fun curve that brought me into the beautiful world of gaming. I wish more games had these types of challenges.

Well not including DLC, there was still 2 levels you didn’t complete. They’re on the regular path, but off the trail. You have to get the 2 keys to unlock them. One of them is “Fumbling in the Dark.” I forget the other.

Alpha, if you collect every gem (by getting a perfect for every level, I believe) you unlock a secret ending by traveling on all the gems on the second to last level (the super easy, one-jump hallway one)

Get all the gems, go to the great hall.
Flashback to getting Relics on The High Road and Slippery Climb
Oh my God! You got the gem in The Lab!? That's the hardest one in the game! I'm legitimately really impressed! Good job!
Slippery Climb took me hours to beat with no deaths. As did one or two of the other Colored Gem levels. Toxic Waste was one and The Lab i had a few trouble spots i had to learn some good timing for. Lights Out was not as bad as i though it would be to do with no deaths. Generator Room took a while and The Lost City was one that caught me off guard. All of this was sadly not recorded. I wanted to learn the games and not jump in blind so i played them off a recording and my god Crash 1 was a mess of anger and death when it came to the Colored Gems.

I think the true 'final' boss is that ONE level we all know about.
The Great Hall level is so short because you actually need all of the gems to access the actual level, which has you platform over a bridge made of gems, and skips the final boss.

The real challenge is getting all the gems. Once you get to the bridge level that shit is impossible
Try getting all the platinum relics. You have to complete a level without dying *AND* do it as fast as possible.
Heya Alpharad! I'm a huge fan of the crash bandicoot series, and I love your videos too. Anyhow, hate to break it to you, Dr.Neo Cortex is probably one of the easiest bosses, possibly the easiest, in Crash 1, 2, and 3. Which is disappointing. Because Dr.Neo Cortex is the main boss of the crash series, you'd assume that he'd be the most challenging. Though he isn't. You did very well though! I really enjoyed watching you play through this!
At 5:25 seeing Alpha struggle and not knowing how to break the news to him that you can just jump on the rope and walk across...
Quality entertainment that's for sure, oh to get the green gem you can't die in sunset vista and get all boxes

Toad The Mushroom difficulty isn't subjective, skill level is. A game journalist being unable to get passed the tutorial of Cup Head doesn't make Cup Head a difficult game, it just makes that jurnalist a shitty player. Crash Bandicoot is by all definitions of the term an easy game. All it requires is a sense of timing. All you have to do to win is know when to jump and when to spin.

The level with the lighting is called stormy ascent and it was the hardest level in crash so it was removed in the game but if you used a game shark on the ps1 you could play that level
The original is actually harder because you could only save the game if you save the chick
Friendly reminder; on the ps1 you needed to complete bonus levels to get saves, meaning if you died you'd have to redo a few levels. Oh and if you failed a bonus level then you couldn't just retry it

I just finally sat down and tried to get to the end of Stormy Ascent (not 100% it yet) for the first time a few days ago. I only died 20 times before I finally made it 😂 I’ll go back and get the gem soon.
