BTW you can refill the one pound propane canisters. They make an adapter that connects the small canister to 20 lb tanks and you recharge the smaller ones off the larger one. Much cheaper than buying new ones and saves on trash! Hint: bleed off excessive air from the 1 pounder before filling to allow room for propane. I use a food scale to weigh the 1 pounders to verify when full.

I wanted to thank you for your Idaho mountain rescue video with your Garmin SOS in reach. That was a powerful story. Unfortunately, the rescuers matched the "Bitterroots" name. Another rescue story was told by Dixie (Homemade Wanderlust) and her use of a Garmin SOS during a possible heart attack on the trail in Sawtooth Wilderness, Idaho. Her story includes the downside of no medical insurance and a $60000 helo rescue bill, but her Garmin insurance will pay a large portion.. Her rescuers were excellent and professional, just the bill was breathtaking. I saw that you had insurance to cover such a helicopter rescue, which is a very wise thing to do. thanks for this story on the Winnebago.

Your explanation during this makes me realize I'm never going to be an "RV person." My parents tried it last summer and hated it and I think I'll be on their side. I still want to try a van though.

It's a lot more work and money than I was anticipating for sure. Always something to fix, and you're tempted to spend money every second you use it to make things easier.

@@JonConti That's how I already feel with my car camping setup in my Subaru. I'd probably go bankrupt if I had to do that with an exponentially larger vehicle.

For the winter in PA I use an electric heat fan, like a little cyndrilocal oscillating space heater. That works great when you're hooked up to electric at a campground.

Good tip! I just bought a Dreo space heater. Gonna use it on our trip this month to the Oregon coast.

Welcome to the Arizona desert for the winter 💕 it’s my first winter escape here from Idaho too , I got a small travel trailer . Your photography is always amazing !
( gotta throw up something on those windows behind the curtains, for insulating effect. That bubble wrap goes up and sticks with water and lets light in for daytime . And, at night keeping cupboards open where there are water lines helps, heck I open them all. I don’t like my stuff cold . I close it up in the morning. 12v car blanket and your solar generator to get the bed warm before bed. You actually ARE still camping out , just have to stay longer.

I'm working on some insulation for the windows as we speak! I just bought the electric heater, next is the heat blanket. Thanks for the tip!

Jon I'm also in the SW right now, doing a three month road trip! I still work remotely, and John is in school online. Definitely taking notes on these stops in AZ
I definitely agree, its a good move to stay planted in one place for a longer period of time to also justify the $$ spent on gas. We're trying to stay in each spot for 1-2 weeks to make the most of it.
Hope you're doing well and really enjoyed the insight on the RV life 🚌

O man I wish I would've known! We bounced around between Phoenix and Tucson for a few weeks. Where in AZ are you?
