Ran into him at the Too $hort and Mac Mall show a few weeks ago and he looked youthful and super healthy. Glad to see the legend is taking good care of himself!
I Grew Up doing the same things B Legit'nem rapped a out, been listening to Bay area Music since day 1, S/O to my Kansas City Playas and my Lil' cuz "Hood Nizzle" #StLouisNS
As a Vallejo boy,man I love this! Hearing all of these stories tells me that we need a click documentary. Something like 40s Charlie Hustle doc. So many stories to be told!
Down and Dirty is my number one favorite album all time. Thank you B-Legit. Also met him one time I was working a hotel desk. I hooked him up with the cheapest deal and he gave me a nice tip. Nice brother
I've watched a few interviews of B-Legit. I MUST Say THIS ONE Was the BEST ONE! Great Sit down with one of the Bay Area Bosses DregsOne🕶️✌️ Brutha you 'DEF'in'IT'Ley have the deepest channel on Bay Area Hip-Hop💯♥️
B-LEGIT ICONIC LEGENDARY 🏆 🏅🥈🎖 👑 ❤ Historic interview 🙏🏽 "The B-Legit & E-40 Story" should be a movie or series! Amazing musical family and story. Director Ryan Coogler who was raised in Richmond California needs to watch your exceptional interview Dreggs One! GRATITUDE 💐 🙏🏽
6:00 “in the swaps catching crawdads doing everything kids do, but these kids now days don’t do that” Man that’s real ! Takes me back to my young days in Hayward playing in the creek behind Shepherd elementary catching frogs, or at Weeks Park catching crawdads ! Our social media was outside!
@49_on_mine_415Yeah I went to Franklin Jr. in 90-91 Thats where celly cel went. My parents went to Hogan High where 40 and Dre went. Solano Jr. Pennycook Cave Steffan Manor Vallejo all day!
707 we in the building! He’s right about coming from the South! He’s one of the best in the Bay! We used to see them passing out there music at the Fairfield mall when they were MVP ❤️💯
I first heard of E-40 back in the 90s when there was the music clubs - BMG and Columbia House, and I got all these free cds. The monthly featured album was In a Major Way. Shortly after that I got The Hemp Museum and The Click Game Related. All three are classics to me. I'm a huge fan of B-legit - legendary voice. I wish I had all of his features and non-solo album tracks. Dude never disappoints on a track. I love hearing these stories from back in the past. Some rappers you can tell keep it real, are humble, and ain't trying to hi-side. Some others, really embellish and you can tell they ain't really telling the truth. B-la is a real one. Respect to him forever. I ain't really feeling most new rap (even from the legends of the 90s), but I love What We Been Doin.
I seen B Legit at Guitar Center in Concord back in 2011, I threw up the peace sign and said Bele and he did a head nod back. I was juiced to see him there but didn’t want to bother him while he was shopping, plus he looked loaded so I just kept it pushing. I missed my chance to talk to a rap legend that day.
My apologies...I couldn't watch this video all the way through. I had to stop it halfway to listen to The Hemp Museum. But it's all good. I came back afterward and finished the interview.
I'm Htown allday & Bay muzik always been legit with me. When I heard "Practice looking hard" I was hooked but even before that $hort had already turned me up on Bay game. Dj $crew started showing luv on his tapes and the whole city was on it then, he loved B-legit "City 2 City" joint. I never understood ppl that don't like E-40 flow, but I was like "He don't sound like no one else" that game! Ppl down here always thought "captain save em'" was funny more than anything, which it was but they didn't take 40 serious until Pac. Same thing with Mac Dre, that creativity was like no other. Thizz in Peace, Dre. When I smoked with Valley Jo catz they rolled that skinny extendo blunt, they kept calling it "LG" and I was high allday. I wasn't use to those small packs for $10
Awesome interview!! Really enjoyed it! Would be great if you could get Little Bruce on there. More cousins of the family were ofc Little Bruce, Toby T from SMG, one of the member of the Mobb Unit , Mac Shawn and more. This family is so big.
Itz crazy that I ended up in the Bay Area in the late 80s. Most of my adult life in Frisco & these last 10yrs here on Sonoma Blvd. in Vallejo. I'm originally from a lil town Minden La.,where my Luv of playing drums go as far back as I can remember. Gremlin State is the next town over from my home town but I didn't realize it until I had a childhood memory come bk my 1st 2yrs here in Vallejo. I was either listening to E40 or reading an article about him goin to Gremlin. Then I got the flash bk to my childhood in the 70s being at a parade,I was so small my height was below an adult's waste. Anways I remember a marching band going by same color uniform as Gremlin State & the drums hitting like a brick wall in my gut. I guess I had forgotten about that moment & itz crazy how & where it came bk after all these yrs. I had also always thought Gremlin was down by New Orleans. We moved from La when I was 12 to Fla. We went to all the high school football games in my home town every Friday night. My big sis was on drill team & cuzin a cheerleader but I was absolutely obsessed w/the drum line & watched them like a hawk when they went to the visiting team's side for a battle. My mom wouldn't let me go over there. At the end of the game & the band was walking up hill to put their instruments away, the drummers would still be playing. I was so obsessed w/drums. Really didn't learn to play till I was 40 when the opportunity to own drums happened. I'm 57 now. When I would jam w/my guitar player sometimes these jazzy snare beats would come out of nowhere. I'd Lol to my guitarist wow I don't know where that came from cause I'm not a big fan of dixieland jazz. Too bad as a child in middle school that when I decided to take band the teacher asked what I wanted to play. I said drums. The teacher said something like girls don't play drums. I remember I was crushed. I got stuck w/the damn flute which lasted about a week & then I had my mom take me out of band. It was drums or nothing for me. Even though I learned later in life it was always there. I really enjoyed this interview takes me bk to my roots & the 70s when life was innocent. I was recently thinking about my boyfriend growing up in the outer Richmond Frisco, how life was for him bk in the 70s. I'm sure every city/town had that simple life bk then. Luv how we can connect the dots, everything cones full circle. Itz been awhile since I've been home but the time is near to visit. My mom & other family members are getting up there in age. Gremlin State is on my list to go visit,I hope I get to meet the drum line.
Shot out to the thurman family i got homies from my city here in South texas related to these cats & theyve also confirmed mac mall ,40 , b-legit ,lil Bruce & mac shawn was all dey kinfolks even producer decadez & work dirty
