My name is James and I live full time in my tiny van, however this is not just a van life channel. I enjoy travel, food and drink and making videos 🙂
When I turned 50 I decided I’d had enough of the rat race and working long hours just to pay rent and bills, life was passing me by and I needed a drastic change.

Helen has a responsible full time job and two children so unfortunately she can’t join me on every trip. I really wish she could.
What equipment do you use?
My vlogging camera is a GoPro Hero 9 but I also use my pixel 6a phone and Lumix G80 camera for other footage
For editing, I used Premiere Pro on an old laptop but I’m saving to buy a more powerful computer.
Do you have children?
Yes I have a 6yr old daughter who lives with her mum but I see her quite a lot. I don’t usually put her on the vlogs and if I do, I block out her face for privacy reasons. I also have a grown up son.
How do you fund your lifestyle?
I don’t need as much to live these days since going full time van life but I receive a small percentage of income from the ads that UA-cam put on the videos.
Why the sponsored videos?

Is it just me...? I don't think it's right to have to pay to go in a church or cathederal... I get that they have to pay for the upkeep but I think the church gets plenty of money and they could ask for donations. Charges like this make these places too expensive for the ordinary working person...elitist if you ask me...

I was born in '63 so my music is all rock/metal/prog and psych but that choral music made me cry it was lovely. Quality entertainment as always. I'm Irish Catholic but I don't go to church anymore, I do believe in karma though and I'm afraid the traffic warden will have it back!!

I bought my hubby some Loakes when I inherited some money after my dad died. Husband often went without shoes as a child and had never had a pair fitted properly. He absolutely loves them and the aftercare is superb. They will last him for many many years.

@@bythecurb right you buggers now I've had time to pull myself together after you sniffing a fanny .I am so lucky while at the hospital I didn't get people in white coats charge at me and fit me with a self hugging jacket 😲😲I kid you not the looks I got the shock on people's faces. It was literally uncontrollable crying with laughter the more I tried to stop the more I laughed.....never watching your vlogs again in public. They can't stop you flying a sub 250 gram drone in an unrestricted area. They might not like it - and they might put up 'policy' notices. But that means nothing.
My father in law was a squadron leader pilot in the RAF so probably frequented that pub.

Speaking of cycle paths….
There were three roads in a pub. A motorway, a dual carriage way and a single carriage way. They were arguing who was the hardest toughest of them all. They agreed the motorway was on account of his ‘hard’ shoulders.
Suddenly in walks a a pink pathway. The motorway looked stunned and his under the table. The other two laughed and asked why he did that. The motorway replied…. You’re joking that’s a cyclo path!

When visiting Cambridge - best bet is the Park & Ride tbh! An expensive place for sure!
You went right in the centre of town but the best street is Mill Road . . .
Ely Cathedral is a wonder to behold (also expensive to get into but the maintenance of a place like that has to be considered!)
Both places steeped in history, so got to be worth a visit!

I wish I'd known you was going here, I've got a Murder Walk where you have to go round Cambridge solving clues to a murder. It's brilliant! Includes a time machine.
Brought back some memories. Last time I visited Ely, 25 years ago, the choir was practicing in the cathederal. If things are very expensive in restaurants, and bear no relation to value for money, walk out. Sadly, it's the minimum wage staff that suffer in these places because, if the punters think they've been ripped off, they never leave a tip.
Another great trip, think I'll save up for that one.

Looking at some of the architecture it makes you realise we've actually lost the ability to create such feats of engineering.
Visit historical sites as often as you can, because one day they won't be there any more.

Well thank you for visiting Ely. I’m not sure if you got to see the river? Also not sure you got to taste the best of Ely Cusine ( better food for better vfm is available I’m sure, or at least in my experience it is), but I loved your feedback on the cathedral.
In regards to Cambridge, if you ever think of coming again, please please please reach out… there’s great parking at the park and ride places that would have cost you £7.00 for the pair of you to take a 10 minute bus ride to the city centre, valid for 24 hours, not 4, and then the most amazing tapas restaurant … I know it’s more expensive than most places… but it’s possible to do Cambridge on a budget…
Shame about the parking ticket, I think if you left the ticket on the screen it's possible you could have been done again? I have been to Cambridge before and its a lovely place with lots of character. Hope your both feeling better on the next one.

Awwww I feel for you with the parking ticket, I've done that years ago when I was stuck in a bank with my youngest daughter and ended up sprinting back to the car breathless, literally just as the warden was writing it out!....previously when I was expecting my youngest daughter 30 years ago I parked outside a playcentre on a football match day and realised it was only for drop offs (baby brain)....I rushed outside to see a motorcycle cop just writing the ticket out, he looked more guilty than me and said if he hadn't started writing it he would have let me off. I appealed it with the top brass lol....and they corroborated it with the policeman, let me off and sent me a very funny letter saying 'please don't think being with child, allows you to park everywhere, but we'll waive it on this occasion' 😂 it was worded in such a way, it actually warmed my heart, there are thoughtful people. On the subject of the video....loved it, the architecture and the shops are beautiful, imagine if EVERY single place was so well looked after, York is the same, Skipton is lovely etc. I feel like by watching, I'm visiting without physically having to go, I really enjoy the humour in your videos as well, I can see why it's such a successful channel, we all really need more down to earth humour today because it's sadly lacking in other forms of media. You and Helen are made for each other, I think I might have said that before 😊....it's lovely to see that dynamic 😃

What you should have done is gone to the park and ride at Trumpington. No charge for the car park just a bus ticket and no worries about keeping a check on the time. Also there is a nice wetherspoons in Cambridge which has downstairs toilets.

I'm in Norfolk for Christmas. Ely Station's on my route, so I might well pop there for the market during the Holiday.
I find it appalling that they charge for entering a church/cathedral. I am sure that many people would happily donate if they are able, but it is wrong to charge an entry fee. What would happen if you had someone who wanted to go and worship, they have to pay £14 to go and pray. Also you were one minute over the 10 minute grace period and there was nothing the warden could do to revoke your ticket. They are just trying to make money

Enjoyed those but blimey, £40 for lunch and £9 for a glass of wine 😮 Where are they getting their prices from but even fish and chips costs an 💪 and a 🦵🏽 these days. Ely’s quaint and Cambridge is interesting/lively but those bikes get everywhere, like in Amsterdam where I nearly got mowed down by one. Running back panicking about a parking fine is horrible but not panicking because you didn’t realise you couldn’t park in an empty car park in your local town, is equally horrible!!! Looking forward to Benidorm and the Madrid Open is on the telly anyway, I’m sure your sis will enjoy her surprise.

Loved it guys. I feel your pain with the ticket. I suspect they have an alert that your car has expired and then able to issue. Anyways, what can you do. The cathedral looks great. Loved the stone of all the buildings, must be local.
The music in *Ely Cathedral* was awesome and brilliantly performed by the choir. I presume all the backing was "live" as well. I'm not sure what composition they were playing, but it sounded almost contemporary in parts and you had a good reproduction on your microphone. A pity you were forced to shell out so much but I'd have happily donated a fiver just to listen to that in those surroundings. Interesting vid as usual *James and Helen.* 👌
You appear to have missed the river area in Ely, just a short walk from the Cathedral - shame, it’s really nice!

Hated staying in Cambridge,used to stay in Ely and earith a lot ,Bury st Edmunds was my fave ,so proper old pubs ,and the smallest is the nutshell ,and if course Abbott ale 🎉

I agree with the other comments. I am a man of faith myself but I disagree with what in essence is charging people to worship God. Maybe Church life has strayed a bit because back in Jesus's time, worship was held in one another's houses. Personally, like that idea.
