- We spent a few hours in Skegness, we really fancied some fish and chips (surprise) but couldn't make our mind up where to get them. We had a lovely afternoon and I even took Helen for a romantic trip on a pedalo where we bumped into some fellow UA-camrs!

A pirate themed chippy would have set alarm bells ringing for me. Shouldn’t need a gimmick to sell fish and chips, just good quality ingredients. Another great video James. You guys are the best
I think you missed what we used to call chip pan alley as kids which is the walk towards the bus/train station

Oh and those grabbers are a massive con to spend £20 on a toy thats only worth maybe £5-£10 just makes it a non starter .golden rule is try a quid then walk away .thanks for entertaining us look forward to the next vid

Skeggy! The golden resort for hundreds of thousands of industrial workers from the East Midlands and Yorkshire for decades. I've a photo of my parents taken in 1949 walking along the seafront with my three sisters. I must remark that Skegness fell into decline but now looks like it could continue pulling families for many more years. Great video guys. Keep up the good work. ❤️😎🇬🇷

When the weather is good it’s a great seaside resort! Went many times in the 70’s as a teen. 👍
Absolutely loved this video - this is exactly like me when looking for a good chip shop 😂 checking out every bodies plate as I walk past and even walking out of chip shop if they don’t look good. Most important thing about a trip to the seaside is good fish and chips, the worry about choosing the wrong one is real 😂

Skegness is past it now days.. Needs major investment.. In the right projects.. Not more tatt shops either.. I live in the area & the chippy's I've been to all do the same average quality.. Sadly that's how it's going at the moment.
Tonys is the best chippy in Skeg Vegas. Loved the video the seal sanctuary is well worth a visit and there are plenty of shops for Helen on Lumley Road xx ☺
Its probably the oldest but its always just been very average for me - standard, anaemic chips and hit and miss fish. It's popular though, I'll give it that.

Very poor fish and chips, kind of ruins the visit and dare I say leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I haven’t been to Skeggy for years, i’m more of a south coast guy! Keep up the great work guys.

Trawler's Catch was rubbish when I went. To give them their dues, it was cheap but the large haddock was the size of a small haddock at places like Atlantic and was really REALLY greasy. Mine was also all batter.
I've also noticed a lot of places in Skeg seem to use tinned mushy peas, which to my mind is very poor. I'm not sure if yours were like that because I had curry sauce.
I dont really understand the positive ratings at all. Worst of all, we kept getting blasted in the face with fake smoke 🤣
If people truly think this place is deserving of high ratings then they don't know what good fish and chips is. Sadly, the best chippy in Skeg centre (Papa's) closed last year.

My dad retired to skeggy, he always said “they can’t cook fish and chips in skeggy” and never found a decent fish and chip shop in the town. Love watching your videos, they are informative and entertaining keep it up. 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻

It's showmans fish. all those places like that that are themed are all owned by ex showman. Whatever is in fashoin they go all out like currios dounuts waffles etc :) cheap but makes lots of money.
James if an establishment is using the Union Jack it's not racist but showing the support of the thousands of servicemen and women who died in WW1 and WW2 so not sure why you call it racist? these people laid down their lives for freedom so you can do what you do now, please show some respect!

That first one you went in ( couldn’t believe how cheap ) 😆 but they ain’t the best mate as was in there last weekend. Trawlers was to busy but cod ,chips and mushy peas for £7.99 is not to moan about tbh .

I just wanted to comment that your at the totally wrong end of town for the best fish and chips everyone in skeg knows sea view chippy is the best they dnt have that horrible grey skin on the fish like all the other chippys in skeg do there perfect chips are aswell so if u go bk try sea veiw chippy on sea view rd best in Lincolnshire

Smegness…. , Nottingham on sea ….. a “sea side “ resort a two day camel ride from the actual sea , which isnt the sea its the estuary of the wash ….. horrible place , you need to go to Hunstanton, just 23 miles over the wash and so much nicer !!
I've been to the pirate place for fish and chips with the family. Most of it was left, we had to find somewhere else to get fish and chips. We had the cod, not much better than the haddock.
Oh NO….could not sit there at the Pirate 🏴☠️ place 😮 and it doesn’t look 👀 good

Totally agree the trawlers catch is awful fish and chips.best place in Skegg is flippers.

Why does everyone recommend the pirate Chippy, it's definitely not the best. If you go to Skeggy again you need to visit Eptons, that's the best chippy in Skeggy.

You went to a touristy poor fish and chip shop, on the road out of Skegness going towards chapel St Leonard’s is a far better fish and chip shop.

The fish is better in Edinburgh, fresher and tasty, that haddock did look yuck

Skegness has gone to the dogs. It looks bleak, soulless and trashy. It used to be so much better before the front was ruined. I loved it years ago. I only like The Fairy Dell now. It was even made boring on the boating lake when they ruined the shelters and cave like bits. The model village was great. Guess what it too has gone.
Skeggy at least looked spotless & well supported by the council. Gobsmacked there wasn't a massive choice of fish & chip shops for a seaside town! Perhaps the seagulls run them out of town?! LOL!

You need to go to capplemans fish n chips in Pickering , they are a bit expensive, but are worth it , plus Pickering is a nice place to visit as well

Lots of improvements to the beach front compared to 20 yrs ago when my son was small (now 27).. It actually looks like a lovely day out!! Does your daughter and Helen's daughter come on any little jollies with you both? How old is Helen's daughter, be lovely if they're of similar age. Must admit..I really like Skegness, Chapel St Leonard..Great.But since covid caravan rental prices are so high...so now fly to Rhodes, Greece.. for 10 days cheaper than 7 days in caravan.Pity ground rent for caravan owners is so high too..
