- The new 2023 BMW M2 uses BMW’s S58 engine to power the rear wheels. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six mill produces 453 horsepower, an increase of 48 hp over its predecessor, and 406 pound-feet of torque.

Drifting = Controlled skidding over succesive curves.
Powersliding = Controlled skidding over a (one) curve or straight road, and not succesive.
Just sliding sideways, that's not meaning it's a drift.

@@EPC Your definition of drifting is just wrong. A drift is simply a controlled oversteer in a RWD car. A donut is a continuous drift, and it has nothing to do with the number of curves or turns involved. Power sliding is simply when the rear end steps out under acceleration during a turn, meaning RWD and AWD cars can do it without counter steering being necessary to maintain control.
I think the looks of this little M2 will slowly grow on most of us. Regardless, its a wicked little sports car.
Y'all better be grateful that they didn't put the beaver teeth front grill like on 3 and 4 series.

Honestly was expecting a better sound: soft limiter, revving up pretty slow, super tame exhaust note. Euro 6 destroyed our music, now we need two cars: a modern daily like this and a youngtimer for the soundtrack.

The previous M2 was better looking for sure, but I dont see the hate, this car looks good, there are better looking cars yes, but it is not ugly. I do not like many design decisions made by BMW, and kinda feel like they are over their prime regardi g design and now just do not know which way to go, but this car looks ok.
Agreed. It's not as bad as the new M3/4 frontend that I still can't get used to. Just can't understand their modern design choices. It's like they're trying too hard to be different and failing at it.

You could say the same about most western car manufacturers. Efficiency has affected the design of cars tremendously. However BMW have never played safe and their designs always grow on people. The era of big grills and controversial designs has lead to M having the most sales ever in their history.

The dirty little secret with cars getting heavy is that they run very wide tires now. It's the only way to maintain the cornering G's. The new M2 is no different. I'd like to see BMW bite the bullet and start using aluminum in the chassis. They went to steel to save money money but Holy Cow! This thing is heavy now.
And now we wait for the competition, cs, jahre, competition , csl , and maybe gts … miss the days when you bought an M it was just that … not a million other iterations
CSL nameplate started in the 70s mate, CS was also in the nameplates for many cars in the 80s and 90s with CSi being the go to. Don't know what days you're talking about

When I bought my e46 M3 it was the e46 and then just the csl version … bought the e92 M3 and it went competition, csl and gts … they just kept expanding the M range … f80 (lord knows how many iterations this had)

The new M generation really made me appreciate the previous generation so much more, it is insane how I started LOVING the old M2 M3 and M4 competition. Now I just can’t wait for BMW to fuck up the M5.

My 2018 Grey LCI sounds ( and looks ) 10x better. Going to do some upgrades to match the HP to the G87 and hang onto it. Being 300lbs lighter also helps - that's like having 2 Russian chicks in the backseat. ( Or one American )

@@tommerlin6579 if you have a manual the dct n55 with smoke you all day long. If you do any kind of modding, the n55 and s55 with exceed the m2 chassis ability to put the power down at anything over 400whp. For around town the n55 is better because of it's low / midrange torque. The s55 is not as special as people say it is. .1 seconds 0-60 difference sisnt anything to write home about. Most of the people who keep harping about the s55 are are just owners who are butthurt that their car sounds like shit or Don't even own an M2 at all.

Engine sounds anemic compared to a V8 but I love the smaller grill and manual transmission.
The original M2 never sounded great so this is an improvement. Looks are Ok but not beautiful. My 8-year old says “too square.”

Fed up of the same hairdryer + pop recipe from cars these days, I know there's regulations to follow but synthetic pops don't make a car sound good. Audi + BMW are the worst culprits for this.

Honestly, would you take the previous M2 Competition over a new M240i? They are roughly the same price most parts of the world. New 240i doesn't come in a manual but I think the new gen has much better interior.
