I love Onew and his vocals, but it is obvious he is not classical trained. Classical singers sing with a low larynx so the sound is rounded and pop singers sing with a higher larynx and it makes the sound brighter. If you pay attention he doesn't sound classical, he tried magnificently, but it is still a pop sound. One singer who can demostrate this is Dimash from Kazakhstan, he mixes pop and opera in the proper way. Not hating on anyone just explaining
Yes, you’re right. He wasn’t trained for opera. He did it because he liked it. People talked about it on variety shows ( he was shy about it too) and fans really wanted to it so he performed it. Onew has the weirdest collection of things he tried do ‘just cause’,
