- In today's video we are back off our holidays and right back into it. There's 3 acres ploughing to be done on contract for a reseed whilst the weather warms up and dries off. Then we're straight back into it, combining and baling up the straw. MF 38 combine, John deere round baler on the 6290.

Great video Phil people are generally surprised by the size of the combine the biggest I drove was a lexion 780 and 40 ft cut not the nicest thing to meet on a narrow lane towing the header and a awful lot of people driving cars can’t reverse 😂

Well.. Good video. Would like to see more of the cattle, even 2 videos a month about them only.. Weighting, dosing, castration, medical issues, grass cover before and after.. I buy continental weanlings and sell on again at 1.5-2 years old. But as the new suckler cow regulations come into effect we will be all raising a certain amount of dairy bred cattle unfortunately, so would be nice to see them... Also without telling us how much a KG you get, it would be nice to know a rough breakdown on margins and whether they pay or not. Thanks👍

Points are missing, but I used to work for on a farm in the uk that was very stoney in places that he didn’t want us ploughing them up so we used to remove the points on that ground

Re the bog the blocking of the drains is to retain water and around here they had pipes on the high bog where harvesting was finished measuring water levels they then dug ponds to retain and reflood areas, whether it will work or not I don't know but lots of engineers on site and lads still cutting in defiance it's like a war zone when cutting on with checkpoints in and out and dickies watching roads for unusual activity. Not everyone in rural Ireland has gas on tap, a regular bus service or a train every 15 mns nor a shop across the road but then again everything only happens in Dublin.

who picks the music. I like it. The boards in the bog are silt traps. The silt traps ensure cleaner water entering the main water courses for the fish and fresh water muscle.

The slatted boards tend to clog with grass in lay field’s

The blocking of the drains stops the flow of the water leaving the bog, the stagnant water will hopefully allow pear moss to start growing again. That's the plan anyway!
