absolutely fantastic video, not just because of the riding, but also because we can see how much fun your having, and the views are amazing there Steve, you live in a great place my friend.
What a great looking bike and it obviously rides well in a variety of situations. Thanks for showing us what Nick can do. He seems like a good guy who just happens to make great bikes.
That bike looks sweet! Checked out their site. I didn’t realize the price of a custom built frame isn’t so bad. Will definitely consider going down that road sometime in the future. I’m glad to see custom bike makers getting more love.
Going custom, really is the “holy grail” on getting a frame that performs so amazing takes you to another level. A good frame builder is obviously not going to be able to reference a library of videos but gathering this information to understand the rider is essential. Honestly, I think that a rider that really wants to get a “special attention to details” in a frame and build should consult your services and discuss this with a frame builder. Steel and Ti are probably the best materials for custom, especially if you can work with a builder that can make or source custom butted, manipulated and various wall thickness tubing. As we know anyone can buy branded tubing but that’s not what brings out the details as much as have the frame that pairs with your needs. Like you said, a frame is usually overbuilt from the factory and especially if your under 160lbs , you want something that has compliance for your weight.
Couldn't agree more. A custom built bike is what I plan on making my next bike. Plus most good bikes these days are carbon and I'm just not a fan of carbon for Mtb.
This vid was great to watch. That trail looks amazing. Can’t wait to hear what the other 2 super special bikes are. Hopefully the one we’ve been talking about. Lol. Anyone on the fence of doing the bike consultation with Steve, do it. Can’t speak highly enough of that service.
What a ride, I could see your smile just from listening you praise the bike. You spoke a lot about your 3 favorites, I assume one is the Spot, what are the others except for your binary (banshee, middle child, the mint colored bike). Just curious.
I still think mid to late 90's hardtails are the best.... My first proper mountain bike was a 94 Marin Indian Fire Trail I upgraded to full at the time new XT group set and Rockshox Judy SL with White industries coil spring and cartridge upgrades. I had that bike for 10 years and put 10's of thousands of kms on it
It doesn't. They are in different categories. The Solstice is a more aggressive bike. He talks about how this was built light, is a bike packing bike. Fork is 120 and lighter. Solstice is designed to be more of a bruiser (its perfect with the biggest fork you can fit at 130mm and heavy tires like the DHF)

Great riding out there Steve (and Nick). Really enjoying this small builder series.
Thanks! I love doing this series.
The paint is fire. Cant wait for more framebuilding videos. Someones going to be very happy with that frame.

100% agree. These custom frames are on an entirely different level. This is what they mean when they say steel is real.

Another thoroughly enjoyable review I'd not seen before. 😊
Love the "Thanks for playing bikes" comment you threw in at the end!
I think watching so much skills with Phil rubbed of on me and it slipped out.
Agreed, nice touch
Skills With Phil is another one of my favorites.
@@ctsingletrack he's a good dude and world class rider.
@@hardtailparty yup I love watching Phil too

another great review!! The different action shots on the trail were great 👍!! Great job Steve what a special bike!!!
I really liked being able to see you ride in 3rd person. Those were some cool moves! We don't get to see that very often.
Thanks. Ill have to hire a cameraman more often.
@@hardtailparty Insta 360 camera can be a good slave
@@hardtailparty You'll just have to find someone that can make it up all of the gnarly trails you ride. I'm officially out of the running🤣
@@isaacbrooks5999 I need to throw a camera on Cody more often.
I had a 360 cam. It adds about 2 hours to each edit. I didn't feel like the juice was worth the squeeze.
Awesome review. Nice to see a sick custom frame shown off on the channel.
I am really looking forward to comparing this with the Neuhaus Hummingbird.
Great, hope you do more of these builder videos. So your top 3 most special are this, Spot Rocker and your Maniac (or something else)?
I plan on featuring many more custom builders, it's so fun. The top 3 are always evolving and changing, but this thing is so special.
That is one sweet bike 😍.

Great work as always
Потрясающий обзор , обалденный байк , великолепный марсианский ландшафт )
Sweet bike!
It is an amazing bike. I can see myself buying this for $2000 instead of getting a Ragly frame.
Try the KENS tyrann X1 frame from the philippines please
Do you have a Fairlight Holt on your list of bikes to review? Would be interesting to see how well the shaped seat and chainstays work.
Not yet, but I'd be open to them sending one for review.
So good! 🙂
You are awesome dude
Thanks for watching!
stop...just stop...with all these incredible bikes lately 😮😂 too good
Sorry not sorry
How does this compare to the Neuhaus Solstice?
Very different geo and ride feel. This is the kind of thing i dive into over on Patreon.

Hi Steve do you need to a different set up for 120mm fork? Especially for those really modern geo frames, thanks!
I don't understand the question.
Hi Steve
Great review,great bike!!
On what seattube angle are you on this sweet bike
Thanks
Check out the first look vid where I measure that.
@@hardtailparty thanks Steve
I'm going to Sedona in November this year for a couple days. What do you recommend as must ride trails there? Thanks!
It depends on so many things. I recommend calling thunder mountain bikes for recommendations. They're our local bike shop and they're great.
@@hardtailparty Awssome thanks for the input. What trail did you ride in this video?
How do you rate it to the Sirius, which was also 120mm black diamond bike?
very different riding bikes
Name the model "The Party"
is that the wheels going twang on the bigger hits?
Yup. The joy of riding a hard tail in these conditions. Wheels weren't hurt though.
Should you be an excellent mtber to get a custom frame?
Nope, just a passionate one.
Manzanita? Hahahaha that’s a peculiar brand name 😳😄😄
It's a common name of a plant found in the west. In fact, there are manzanita bushes all over in this video.
Around here the best trails are lined with Manzanitas.
I just assumed it was the builders last name LOL
