The first thing my father did when he built his retirement house was build a large pond. He then rigged up a pressure pump that used the pond water (he had a filtering system) to fight potential fires. He was a thinker and planner.

Just keep it clean around it kids don’t need to come up on snakes hiding in grass . Trust me been there.
My heart goes out to you, your family and your children on the loss of a beloved animal friend. It is never easy to lose a loved one regardless of species. The fire is also concerning, as it is so close to your lovely home, that is still being built. Lifting you and your family up in prayer at this time. May protection and peace surround your family, including your animals, and that you are kept safe.

I’m really proud of you guys! I love your videos! My daughters home is just down from you guys and we also are watching the fires. We almost had to evacuate them a few years ago. I’m not going to lie, I have enjoyed the storms and cooler weather and the show they brought. But with that comes the fires. At least they are later than normal this year and fall is approaching and will help with them. I am so sorry about your lamb. That makes my heart hurt. ❤
you should look into a soapstone wood stove , lined with soap stone will save you a bunch in wood . They hold the heat for hours after the fire goes out so you won't have to get up in the middle of the night and is usually coals left in the morning
I agree. We got a soapstone stove two years ago and it's wonderful!
With the fire hazards in you area I'm so happy you went with the concrete formed siding and not actual logs...its much safer for you local and looks beautiful.

We will definitely pray for you and your family and that you get the rain you need to suppress the fire hazard anywhere near your property. It's a real threat every year though. I'm glad you are prepared as much as you can. Hopefully you can dig a pond with an available pump/and drum to throw on the back of the truck in case you ever need it. I've seen several homesteaders use those. Let us know how the fire goes!

We might not would agree on the smaller decor cause I haven’t seen your ideas yet but I like Native American ideas. I use horses, buffalos, 🦅 eagles, western boots, and the pic frames are all western. I got several nice pics from home interior. I just think it’s a beautiful era. And there is nothing more beautiful than horses running across fields to me. And I use bear too. You have a beautiful place due to the hard work you have put into it. I'm with Jeremy - spas ahhh 👊 An outdoor hot tub anywhere is great, I can't imagine how magnificent a hot tub on your property with it's amazing views will be! While Hot Tubs are terrific all year long, there is nothing quite like one in winter. It will be a great family activity, soaking centers the soul.
Starlink is great! Every time you go into the great room for the first time in an episode I am still highly impressed with how wonderful your ceiling looks, well done! The house is coming along so well, you will so well deserve just living in it soon. Thanks for bringing us along!

My husband is a tech guy and had his name on the wait list for starlink as soon as there was 1 and we’ve had it a few months and definitely can’t complain, we actually just moved to WV and had no issues connecting it here.

So sorry for the loss of your little lamb. It never is easy . I knew you loss Jeremy the minute he said they sold hot tubs in the store. I'm still laughing. Prayers to you all that the fires are out sooner rather than later. Working on a pond might be moving up on the to do list.
The Bullfrog brand spa with the replaceable seat backs is our spa. We love it and you are not 'stuck' with just one jet pack design for each seat. An A-8 with seating for 6 should be considered.
We do love our spa (until a mouse got in and gnawed one of the water hoses).
PS we had trouble with doors too...but after a few doors are now much better.

It is always sad to lose any animal, animals become part of the family, even if you do not want them too. I hope the fires that you see do not come in your direction. A bit more work being done to the inside of your house, I like the wood colour you decided on for your doors.

Since you are planning to get the wood stove and hot tub at some point anyway, I'd take that salesman up on his offer. You will live with that stove for the rest of your life, so get the one you want. And think of how nice family time will be in that hot tub on a cold winter's day.
ETA: So, did you buy that little stove? If you loved it so much, think of how much your grandkids will like it.

Sorry about Fozzie. It's always hard with the loss of a pet. Any chance of digging a pond on your property? Are you close to a creek/stream? Thinking about a water source "just in case" you would need to pump water.
