- In this video I revisit the Hyper Tough model 80013. There were many commentators that found issues with the tool so I wanted to make sure my test was solid. Turns out I did need a few corrections. #powertools #hypertough #impactwrench

I've been using it for suspension work, i'm impressed, it has taken every bolt I came across (control arms, lug nuts, tie rods ends) but yeah just works with the 4.0 amp battery
My only complaint with TTC (or any tool tester) is sample size. So I'm glad that there are channels like this one with repeatable data to compare to.
Absolutely. One of my concerns is that any one tool can be faulty or any battery can have issues. It’s good to have many channels working independently on the same tools.
I plan on grabbing up some of these hyper tough 12v tools great review
Thank you sir
Great feedback. Maybe they should fix that to sell with the 4ah. I bet they listen to your feedback. I am not sure what it takes to get your test rig going but I have been able to take lug nuts off at 125 foot pounds with my 2ah battery on my truck but it seems your test requires straight torque immediately and the battery management system just shuts the tool down before the impact even starts. Crazy that a 4ah battery makes that much difference! Thanks for the review. I have been enjoying mine so far. Enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks, I am glad you are enjoying the videos. Maybe in the future I can run some timber screws in with two AH and see if it reacts better.
I also think that it’s good and have been using it with the four amp power battery and I think the purpose of this gun is to takeoff top of the engine stuff and people want to take Lugnuts off with it. You need a half inch for that not 3/8
Most 3/8 impacts are fine for lug nuts, they shouldn’t be torqued down to stuff like 200 foot pounds normally. Average lug nut torque is around 80-100 foot pounds, most 1/2 impacts are for much higher torque. As a matter of fact, I’ve seen these work just fine on lug nuts with the 4AH battery
@@zephyr1182 I agree maybe it’s just an American thing we want more bang for our buck then I guess cause it’s small people want big performance out of it but like it said, it’s a 3/8 it’s got plenty of power
@mn4a15 well for your bucks it's not bad they currently have the impact with the small battery and a 4ah for $75
@@james10739 oh yea I already have one it’s worth it I keep it in the car for random small jobs and has worked perfect
Thank you. Why do people think 3/8 is for beyond 16mm nuts? You beat up the square drive on the socket.
I bought the bundle with the rapid tough charger and i am very satisfied with its performance
Very cool. I like them as well.
Buying it at your local Walmart (vs. a copycat brand from Amazon) means that if you _really do_ get a defective one, it's much easier and quicker to get it replaced and back to the task at hand. I'm done with Ryobi and Home Depot. I've had too many sub-performing Ryobi tools right out of the box that I've had to return for another and try again. That sours the experience and satisfaction of what ever project I'm working on.
I had to change front struts on a 12 year old car in the Midwest. Cars are very rusty in the Midwest. I bought the hyper tough 20 volt 1/2 inch impact to remove the strut bolts. It spun off the rusted 24mm nuts like it was nothing. I couldn’t budge the rusted nuts with a 25 inch breaker bar. As far as I’m concerned, Walmart hit a home run with their budget impact tools.
A lot really depends on expectations. Is a pro really going to expect a cheap tool to meet his needs? Yeah, he may want a less-expensive alternative to Snap-On, but I wouldn't expect him to drop all the way down to Wal-Mart.
OTOH, a DIY homeowner, who has only light work to get done, may find Hyper Tough perfectly acceptable.
Got mine for 59 dollars and a 4ah for 25. I got it for smaller bolts/nuts works well.
Good deal, it’s a bargain.
If Grizzly Adams says so! Dan Haggerty would be proud!
I have a beard and love it! Thanks bro.
Are we going to see a review of the hyper tough brushless half-inch impact wrench
Yes, it is coming very soon
@@HVACShopTalk excellent
I bought one and tried it for two weeks and it was garbage. There is too much full-power testing of these things and nothing about control. The big thing to me was the horrible motor control of the cheap electronics, it only seemed to have a resolution of about 4 motor speeds and they were not predictable as far as where in the trigger they would engage. You had to squeeze the trigger quite a bit to get any movement and then you had too much. If you wanted to do fast, efficient auto work with varying sizes of fasteners, it would be very hard to use this tool without overtightening and possibly stripping/snapping smaller fasteners.
There are good conversion charts you can look up for socket adapters that list efficiency loss. I think torque test did it. I think the loss from 3/8 to 1/2 was something like 30%
My main focus is whether it'll knock lugs off. I was hoping this would do that without much struggle.
It my experience it does. It took 2-3 seconds to get it going, but it did. I have footage in my previous video on this tool.
It works great, and it is one of my go-to tools, plus the price you can't go wrong!
I have 1/2 20v & 3/8 12v...the 12v is really 10.8v in the smaller batts read the box( for less torque applications)& only the 4ah is reading 12.5...its electronics its the capacitor size that creates more power but also uses more battery even at slow speeds
Really want optimal performance remove the guts on 11/2 Amp battery & wire in terminals using the battery as a plug & 12 foot cord to plug in cigarette lighter or use a 12ah 12v lithium battery ( which has 14.4-12.8 volts)with a female plug..bump the 3/8 to the 1/2 level
My only issue in buying this impact is the 3/8 drive. Almost all of my impact sockets are 1/2 inch. If I use my 3/8 to 1/2 drive adapter to use my 1/2 sockets, will I lose any power?
I already have the fast charger and a good battery for it since I got the 12v drill. I'll grab this since I need an impact and it will fit the battery I already have. It's a good price point and looks to be decent for what I need. Otherwise I would probably get something in 20v.
I buy and use all brands and how much I am going to use something/what I will use it on determines what ecosystem I buy the tool in. What I would use one of these for I would go hyper tough 12v. But I also already have a 4ah battery and fast charger, though if that bundle for the tool really is only $75 with a 4ah instead of $60 for a 2ah, thats a steal!
What does the owner's manual say? I know a lot the Bauer tools i own flat says in the front of rhe manual for best results use no less then the 3ah battery.
I have a solution for the battery cutout that I’m going to attempt in the next few days that may completely delete the cutout protection. Where you can actually use just the 2.0a battery that comes with it no problem. I think it may work. I’ll post a comment and a video if it does.
How was the result?
I wish they would up scale the HT 20V drill/driver from 175 in lbs to at least 375 in lbs. make it 2 speed. It’s sad that their 12V has more torque than the 20V. I’ve been using the 20V impact for 7 years now and love it, but that drill needs some serious upgrading
i understand the frustration, BUT i have other hyper tough 12v tools so i bought the 4ah (x2) and can use the provided 2ah with my ratchets or little drill/impact driver.
P.S. i am a casual user not a everyday carry kind-a-guy.
That’s what I do as well. I just used the 2 on other tools.
I have the ½" and I'm using it to put my saw mill together. 2AH battery. You know where to click.
The 2ah battery works with the tool...if its just used in lighter torque applications.I cant see anyone expecting it to take off lug nuts..You cant just say it does not work...or is equal to no battery at all.
You're using a .375 to .500 adapter on the hyper tough correct? If so, youre losing power the same way you were with the ryobi.
Yes, there would be a power loss with my 1/2 to 3/8 as well. I don’t think it is nearly as severe, but you are right. I can’t seem to find a 3/8 socket for my volt.
@@HVACShopTalkIIRC TTC had to have the large sockets with a ⅜" drive that they use with their test rig specially made, as they too were unable to find anyone already making them.
Another option, if you have a welder or know anybody with one.... You could just weld the adapter into a 1/2" drive. Not sure if it would last forever, but it could be worth a try
My question is between the 20v lithium and the 12v brushless which is the better choice if it requires more power and longer run time?
It is typically the 20 V that offers more power and runtime, but I really like hyper tuff 12 V tools better
@HVACShopTalk Thanks for the answer. I pretty much have all the 20v. I found a clearance today on the 12v with the router, reciprocating saw, and extended reach ratchet, and it made me question the difference in the brushless comparison.
I would go with 12v line cause I have batteries that haven't been released...20v don't offer a 6ah battery
That sucks the reason I like this tool is because the 2a battery can get in smaller places. If I have to get a bigger battery I'm better off just getting the 1/2
They should just sell tool only on all their brushless line up.
That would be a good idea. I have a ton of 1.5 AH batteries I don’t really need.
Use those for lights, radios, and maybe fans.
You can get the red. Impact 1/4 at. Harbour feight for 60 bucks with battery and charger. k
Would you go with this or just a Bauer? Price point either with battery is pretty similar. Obviously 20 versus 12.
Bauer is much more powerful, so it would be work specific. If I was screwing a deck together then the Bauer. I use the Hyper Tough in the shop for a variety of light tasks. It would be a pain to use the Bauer for all of those tasks because of the weight/size. So just match to the need.
It’s an ok tool for light work. Build quality is lacking a bit as the entire front housing moves in relation to the plastic body likely due to the fastener size being smaller than the holes in the metal impact housing. The battery issue is ridiculous even for a budget tool. An Amazon compact will almost certainly out perform it for the same or less money when you factor in buying the 4 amp hour battery and fast charger though you’d likely sacrifice some of the form factor. I give it a solid meh.
Great 🎥 Brother 💯👍
Thanks man.
Can you review the hart brand
Yes
My guess would be that if you disassembled the 1.5AH battery that the 18650 cells inside are not from a top-tier / well-known brand (e.g. Panasonic, Samsung, Sony) and is instead some bottom dollar Chinese cell that vastly differs in performance.
That’s sounds about right to me.
It says in directions that it shuts of automaticlywhen bolt is seatèd
Amm I the only one who's wondering if it takes m12 Milwaukee batteries?
It does not.
👍👍👍
Thanks Harry
My impact gave up pretty quick😢
Impressive 😮
It done real good
Did you change your cell number ?
I have not. I have been I’ll however (not answering)
ill
Let's have a showdown, take a milwaukee m12 stubby, tight it up to 15 seconds, then give the HT 15 seconds to take it off. Of course, vice-visa after that.
Good one, I bet the M12 wins
@@HVACShopTalk You're probably right, but on paper, HT is supposed to be more powerful though...
Oh my don't read the comments.
I think the HT is now good stuff and I wouldn't mind having on!? Felt one the other day and used it in the store and it felt good and solid!!
All this said! They absolutely need to cut the price orrr INCLUDE THE 4 HR BATT AND ALSO INCLUDE A DAMNED GOOD CHARGER FOR THIS PRICE!!!

One very important question is do you know JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR?
Yes
