  • The Riese & Müller Load4 60 and 75 electric cargo bikes offers limitless transport options for families across the UK and around the world. With its low centre of gravity and full suspension 'Control Technology', it delivers outstanding riding dynamics on the road.
    We reviewed this bike with Felix Ströder, Head of Development at Riese & Müller, in Germany. This cargo bike can hold a total weight of up to 200 kg, including the rider, making it suitable for all of the family.
    Due to the state of the art full suspension technology, your precious cargo will stay safe on bumpy ground and cushioned from big knocks during transit. Thanks to the slack seat angle, you’re low enough to place your feet firmly on the ground when necessary. The R&M LOAD4 electric bikes are equipped with the Bosch Smart System, complete with the powerful and reliable Bosch Cargo Line motor, designed for a smooth ride for a fully-loaded family!

    I completely agree with you, the load is one of the best things I’ve ever bought. I had a hard time separating with the amount of money these cost (especially for a ‘bike’) but it was absolutely worth it, not a single regret. I’ve had mine almost a year now and have only touched my car a couple of times (begrudgingly) since I got. If you could take them on the train for those super long journeys, I would have sold the car already. I use it for everything, the dog loves it (she hates the car) and I’ve even picked up the wife from town a few times with it. Every journey is so much fun, I actually look forward using it come rain or shine. If you’re on the fence about buying one of these, just do it, you won’t regret it!

    For families, I would go Tern GSD over this:
    -more compact
    -no issues with kids getting bigger as more space for them to grow, you can easily fit two ten-year-olds (legs go either side of back wheel-advantage of long tail)
    -better value (cheaper)
    🙂

      Most people do, (we sell way more GSD than Loads) but if you have the space and you don't mind spending a bit extra, the load brings an extreme amount of joy and comfort. It shouldn't be under estimated.

    First time I noticed the front fork update, looks still Suntour a20, is a great fork, on Load4 it appears the guard however has a front strut mount point, which isn't on the gen3. Really interesting this detail has been updated as the robustness of the SKS guards on our Load60 and load75 has been one of my only gripes. Good update 👍

    Thanks Ben, I think it’s hard for people to realise how much of a game changer it is having access to a cargo bike is for families. We’ve got a load 60 and I’m (irritatingly!) over the moon about it. We’ve got a Load 60 but hitting the size limits of our 8 and 3 year old. Hey Andrew, thanks for getting in touch . Glad to hear you're enjoying your Load 60! We've heard similar comments of 'how did we ever function before having a cargo bike?!' before from members of our own team and their families! The new Packster 70 would be a good option if you're going to need something a bit more roomy soon. The front box is larger than the one on the Load 60, plus the new Packster 70 has some useful upgrades including a headrest that comes with the child seats and the ability to slide the bench forwards/backwards. I don't really get why this is any better than a Bakfiets. Obviously it has an electric drive-train, but I'm not coming to biking from a car, I was a biker before all of this. I get this vibe that this is for people who are lazy.

    • @FullychargedUK
      @FullychargedUK  Рік тому

      Hi there @aguafria, thanks for sharing your thoughts. The Bakfiets cargo bikes are great but they can be challenging to ride with children in if you live in a slightly hilly area. The fantastic thing about electric cargo bikes like the Load4 60/75 is the barriers they overcome in terms of physical ability; even if you haven't been a keen cyclist for years, the electric assistance means you can easily transport children or other forms of cargo from A to B (whilst getting some exercise in!), allowing more cars to come off the road, helping us fight climate change and move towards a healthier population.
