Avoiding the Blank 24 Pt 8 (Chub and Barbel fishing on the Hampshire Avon, Dorset Stour and Thames)

The river season has now started, I am back on the hunt for a big barbel or massive chub.
This has been taking me on rivers around the area with limited success at the moment, not for the want of trying. I have been usung several techniques at the following venues:
