  • In Paris, among all of the history and glamour, one can find something completely unexpected: a 10.5 mile trail plotted out by American Boy Scout troop leaders. The trail highlights sites of importance to both the French and Americans. Ed O'Keefe brings us along to explore this connection dating back to Benjamin Franklin.

Uplifting. Americans learning while taking in another culture. From either Franklin or Jefferson there’s a great deal to learn.😊

It hasn't always been great. There was the Qusai War. France strongly supported the Confederacy and by default supported slavery. We nearly went to war over Mexico. There was the Vichy state, disagreements over NATO & the Suez Crisis.

Yes that is true, but every relationship has its ups and downs. Overall we’ve had more positive interactions than negative.🇺🇸❤️🇫🇷

Yeah but you could say the same stuff with Britain really. We weren’t really good friends Untill WW2 and after. Most of our current allies were once enemies. Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, etc.

You could take any pair of countries in the World and witness some bonds between them. I am sure they are places in Paris that are connected with Spain, India, China, Russia and so on.

N°44 and N°56 rue Jacob can also be mentioned, because they are very important in US History : those are the building in which the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783, putting an end to the war of independence, and marking the birth of a Nation 😉
(p.s : func fact : Franklin refused to sign te treaty at N°44, siege of the British Embassy, because it was a British soil… So the treaty was brought to the N°56, where a hotel stood).

Slavery. Then the US set up Liberia when there was an idea floating around about sending free slaves back to Africa. More recent decades has seen the US taking millions of immigrant from all over Africa. Lots of African culture in the United States.
