  • The Seine River is an integral part of Paris - and of the 2024 Olympics. Athletes in some swimming events will compete in the river, despite questions about if the river would be safe to race in. Jeff Glor has more.

It's the sewer system and the fact that the city is built right up to the river banks. Rivers need their natural borders, usually marshlands, to help clean it. This is all gone here.

Does EVERY report about Paris have to start with that accordion music?😅
For those who have never been to Paris or France, you will never hear this music. Download some French accordion music and listen to it as you go sightseeing if you want. Otherwise you will be hearing hip hop, US and British pop, Rai or heavy metal. You will see more French eating burgers than croque monsieurs.
The guy working in the neighborhood café wont have a small mustache, wear a beret and a striped sailors shirt. More likely he will have dreadlocks, be covered in tatoos and have a AC/DC T shirt on. He will probably be polite, but just saying 😅

The most interesting thing about the Seine is it wouldn't exist if they hadn't reversed another to feed it with water. It shouldn't be there! Considering the climate change, how much water are they stealing from areas that would've gotten it if it wasn't diverted away?
