I'm not so sure these players are a better bet than maiava, but only Riley would know for sure. Yes, Maiava looked terrible for most of the bowl game, but he is the exact opposite of Miller. He rises to a challenge, which helps a team win games. Only the coaches know whether they can train those turnovers out of him and get his confidence up during a full game.
I trust LR on this one. Whatever he does at the QB position I will support. As the smoke clears and life moves on, here is my question. Is it smart to do away with a 6ft. 4in. QB that knows how to put the ball in the endzone, has a .755 winning percentage and is on the record for winning a USC Bowl Game against and SEC 8-4 team? If he doesn't throw off his back foot, doesn't throw senseless interceptions because he goes thorough his progression effectively, and runs for an average of 50 yards a game, will then, what we asking for is LR to make Maiava the next Heisman. Let's be frank about the ask. It's a win-win for USC no matter what direction this goes. Team first, individuals second. LR hanging onto Grinch in 2022, 2023 and Moss in 2024 killed USC CFB playoff chances and this is an immutable statement. LR is young and learning and cannot afford to make this mistake for a fourth year. In the NFL you have to be quick, decisive, and cannot let feelings get in the way and win at all costs. I trust when he gets over this hurdle, he will be one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL when that opportunity presents itself.

Maiava’s still a young QB, only playing in 4 Power 4 games going 3-1 with his only loss being to #5 ND where he played great outside of the first pick 6, so I think a full offseason of him working with LR & the starters will work wonders for Jayden’s processing & decision making. Why would any of these QBs come to USC. We saw what Lincoln Riley did with Miller Moss and Malava??? Moss transferred and Malava almost had 10 turnover in his short stint as QB 1.
