    The Mass Percent of a solution is equal to the grams of solute per 100 grams of solution. The formula is:
    Mass Percent = ((mass of solute) / (mass of solution)) x 100%
    This equation may be rearranged to solve for any one of those three variables. The mass may be in any mass units as long as the mass units are consistent with each other. It is also useful to realize that the density of water is approximately 1 g/mL, so volumes of water in mL are equal to masses in grams.
    In this video, I also describe how to make a solution of a certain mass percent.

    why you have used mass of solution=mass of solvent+ mass of solute in example 2 alone and not in example 1... can u explain...

    • @varadasrivastava7610
      @varadasrivastava7610 2 роки тому +1

      been an year since op posted but still, in example 1 we were given the volume of the whole solution while in example 2 we were given volume for the solute and the solvent. A solute and a solvent combine to make a solution which is what is asked of us in the formula. That's why we add the solute and solvent in the second example and not in the first :))

    Ketzbook ummm I have a question and I hope it will be answerd (sorry for killing the Thankful mood of this comment section but like most of the others here this vid really and TOTALLY helped me too so I'm thankful like them too), ok so in calculating the mass of a solute what formula or what should you do to get the mass of the solute if the mas of the solution wasn't given? Please pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase answer I'm having a totally hard time understanding my teachers solution so Pleaaaaaaaaaaase tell me what to do when the mass of the solute isn't given.
    This is the problem that is quite similar to the one I need to solve just so you know what I mean
    A solution is prepared by dissolving a certain amount of solute in 500 g of water. The percentage by mass of a solute in a solution is 2.38. Calculate the mass of solute

    • @ketzbook
      @ketzbook  3 роки тому +1

      I thought I did one like this. x = mass of solute
      x / (500 + x) = 0.0238
