@@ZillaCabs 3u so far: surge protector, power sequencer and a 48 port patch panel. Post holidays: 2 x 2u Fryette PowerStations and 2 x 2u AmpRX BrownBoxes. All to support a vintage Bassman and DR504. It's great having my 2x12s off the floor. I can hear the bottom cab so much better now. Also, my cat loves sleeping in the bottom of the rack. I'll send a picture as soon as I have a good one :-)
You make the tolex wrapping look so easy people will think any monkey could do it... anyone who has tried it though will know its an absolute nightmare 😂
haha it is a nightmare isn't it.... maybe we should put a disclaimer on there, its this easy when someone is editing and you've tolexed over ten thousand amps/cabs ;)
Quality peace of gear. I wated for this one to see how it works and to see could I go from standard amplifier chassis formats to rack box and use that as chassis. It wouldn't work. Btu for the rack amplifier this is ideal cabinet. Great workmanship but then again it always is in case of Zilla Cabs 😊
It's a cool idea, the issue I see is that, if you change your rack setup at all, say by adding an effect unit, you end up losing the cab as well. Reselling is next to impossible. Having a regular 2x12 _and_ a separate rack unit ends up being more practical. That's probably why it isn't that popular. But: if you guys make custom racks, especially if you can make it shockmount, that's something that might be interesting.
@ the issue with modellers is that they’re constantly being updated and upgraded. 10 years ago everyone was raving about the AxeFX 1, nowadays no one uses it anymore. So many people are just using floor units. A JCM800 is a JCM800 since it was created, and people are still trying to capture its magic. So having built-in rack space in one’s cabinet is a gamble, because they don’t know if and how their setup will change in a couple of years. Personally, I’m actually thinking about going to a rack setup for the first time, but I’m actually overshooting the number of units I’m going to need, for that exact reason. If I eventually change my mind about racks altogether, selling an 8u rack isn’t nearly as hard as selling a 2x12 cab with an integrated 8u rack space. Don’t take this as criticism though, I loved the work you showed here.
I've seen that combination a few times recently, must be selling. I do like the Neo cream for pairs, and the v30 is only everything. I have been thinking about it for days now, and I think the series wiring across two speakers only changes resistive resonances across half the phase cycle. The rails are different from each other, but you get the normal output for each driver on half the sine wave so yes "minimal" is probably an understatement. All they're doing is tweaking each others' line side input curve on the secondary driver but like I said, only on half the wave. Pretty sure about all this, union trained electrician who didn't pay attention in school so I'll stand corrected if anyone knows better.
I think we are going for What's on the Bench? But what do you think? Let us know!
"What's On the Bench" is a perfect name and I love the new category of videos!
Also "What's On the Bench" doesn't pressure you to make one of these every single week 😌
Perfect name
"ReCABitulation" 😛
"CABital letters".
I like the idea of the power amp rack combo. It gives the ability to run all manner of preamp pedal setups into a confined unit.
Thanks for watching mate.
Love this idea, shocked to not see it more as well!
Glad you like it mate.
This design is so cool. I wish I had known about it sooner!
How many U's have you filled up in your rack case?

What I would find useful is a rack enclosure that clamps securely on top of an amp head. Cheers~
Like the old piggy back fitting on old Fenders.
This was awesome!!! Amazing quality and workmanship!!
Thanks mate, that's really kind of you.

Enjoyed watching a master at his craft! Excellent work sir.
That's too kind, thanks for that.
I would like to put MP-1 and 1U power amp in this cab 😋
that would work
Love that idea! I have a couple of Fryette power stations....ideal solution! Might consider one!
Good call. Glad you liked it.
I wanted to do the same with my pedalbaby! Nicely done!
Thanks mate.

People do have that option but I'm still surprised that for say a powered Kemper or something like that.. or a home setup.

Yeah its a great mix, sounds great and helps keep the weight down a little.
This is what I want to do for the one cab tps wet dry but maybe open back and an alnico cream and v30
Very nice!!. Hey was the winner of the custom cab chosen?
Thanks mate. Not yet, but they'll be chosen soon.
