  • This one is going to divide opinion! Invicta's are always a love hate watch, especially at this size. This one has been loaned to me by a colleague so I can share it with you!

I'm impressed by the grand divers, I have several, and for $80-100USD you can wear it and not worry about it! 8.5 inch wrist here, 47mm fits great without looking oddly small like a 40mm on me. I think if invicta didn't make so many god awful "clown" watches they wouldn't have all the hatred towards them.

If they consolidated their lines and upped the quality to offer great watches in maybe 3 tiers, $100, $200, and $300, then they cud make lots of money

I've worn a #3049 for about 9 years and you don't notice the weight after about a week. I only have a 7" wrist but I loved it regardless. Also, I persnallt LOVE the engravings of "Invicta" and "grand Diver" on the watch case as well as the diver logos on the shoulders of the watch. All of this branding screams "I AM NOT A ROLEX OR OMEGA!!!" which I think is rather cool. The standard 40mm Pro Diver is definitely an homage to the Submariner but I feel that the Grand Diver is more of an homage to the Planet Ocean. This is especially true if you have the original scalloped bezel like mine because those hands are nowhere near Rolex hands but not too far off from Omega. There are Rolex-like featues like the oyser bracelet and date cyclops but if you search for "Grand Diver #3049" rhe first video will be of what they called a "GT Grand Diver" which was the model that preceded mine with a Miyota movement instead of my GD's Seiko NH35A. After 9 years, it still runs flawlessly despite having never been serviced and it doesn't even have any visible scratches. The #3049 is a Bluesy and the gold accents are still 100% intact and perfect after all this time and use.
I would say that it is easily the best choice in watches that I've ever made. If you discount it too fast (like you have), you;re missing out on something special; I can guarantee you that,

The ProDiver regularly gets good reviews but many of their other (Graffiti, Joker etc.) styles are polarizing and most of the sizes tend to run VERY MUCH to the larger size 52mm seems average whereas most watch traditionalists tend to favor 39-42mm.
I don't personally like most of their designs and think most of the watches are too large, bulky and heavy for my 7.5 inch wrist (and I watch a lot of their TV programming) but I do admire them for being unique and their cutting edge design and for being among the most innovative when it comes to designs.

Probably a good size watch for you!
I like some of their pieces and think they offer good prices for some of the pieces. I don't like their 'pricing strategy' at all, i think its pretty deceiving. I think the most annoying thing is how great they were in comparison to some of the things they offer now. Another annoying thing for myself is that I've seen what they can produce in the vintage diver they released and thats the level they should be at with all releases, they're just not! Hey Jason, I don't get the tremendous amount of hate that Invicta watches get. Most of their new watches are hideous but the first watch I brought myself after 25 years was the 9937 with the Selita SW200 movement 40 mm 'Subb copy" and it is the most reliable beater watch that I own even today. It was my introduction to eventually getting a Rolex Submariner and several other higher-end watches that I wear on special occasions. I wear the Invicta more than all of the other watches and it's proven to take a beating. I think there are worse watch brands out there that deserve the hate. I've had no mechanical problems with mine but I will admit most of their watches are hideous. Great vid brother. Cheers.

I have an all silver model with silver bezel and dial and it has sat in my watch box for the last 4 or 5 years. It’s not a bad watch, just HUGE! It wears a little better with a rubber or thick, Breitling style deployment clasp strap but the stock bracelet is actually pretty good for an Invicta. I did an all brushed treatment and it’s a really attractive watch but hard to wear unless you are a bigger guy.

From a practical point of view I prefer my Invicta pro diver that I bought earlier this year. I might give the Grand Diver to my daughter as she said she likes the look of it, but I will have to take a few more links out. By the way I note that after only a few days Amazon has completely sold out of the Grand Diver.

If you think the Grand Diver is a bit too big for your taste, you probably shouldn't get the Hydromax... I bought one of those via Amazon the other day and it's definitely larger than any other dive watch that I own (although smaller than a dive computer that I wear on my wrist while diving)... The weight is a bit more than my other dive watches, but that's not an issue while diving since it just means a pound less weight on the weight belt... For non-diving uses though, I figure that the extra weight just helps balance the weight of the M1911 that I carry on my other side... :)
I would prefer for it to be slightly thinner though and maybe have a bezel that came up slightly higher than the crystal so that it acts as a protector for the crystal. That is how the bezel is on my Seiko 6306-7001 it took a lot of abuse over the years with very minimal damage to the crystal... By my measurements, I need about an 8.25-8.5" band size for a watch, so I can get away with larger watches.

I have to say that I had a similar opinion about large watches on my, roughly, 7 inch wrist. But then I bought a Samsung Galaxy watch, which is roughly 50mm in diameter an 15mm thick. It's now my daily watch, with a more traditional watch worn at weekends and for special occasions. The Grand Diver was on my list for weekend wear, but I ended up buying a Phoibos Wave Master. The main thing I had against the Invicta, was the case engraving. Far too "shouty".

The Pro Diver is sized ok, the Grand Diver is HUGE, and, unless you are over 6 foot, 200 plus pounds...better be careful with the larger. They are a decent beater watch, out to the pub, boating, etc...cannot hurt them. And, if it did get hurt...replace or fix...costs about the same. I bought one of these and I’m a wearer of the maroon machine. For those of you who know what that means, fair play, for those that don’t, you can stop reading. Anyway, suffice to say, this watch gets put through some serious shit on a daily basis and 4 weeks in, it hasn’t left my wrist and has put up with some serious abuse. In fact, the kind of abuse you would only expect to be withstood from a watch that costs 4 times the amount. So all in all, very very happy, as I picked it up for £107 on Amazon! Reduced from £179 don’t ya know! 😬
Anyway, if you’re looking for a watch that looks good, looks expensive, tough as fk, keeps good time as the movement is a crackin one and is cheap as chips, then you could do a lot worse than buying one of these. Don’t forget, that the pro diver is a far shittier quality watch, so don’t get these mixed up. This is the giant grand diver……

This watch is probably aimed at the Bigger Is Better crowd. Definitely not for me.
Outside of the engraving, which is tacky, and tackier still since they use different typefaces in each side, this isn't a terrible watch. I guess it gets a lot of crap from guilt through association... association with the super tacky HSN offerings.
For the money, I'd take a San Martin or Cronos form that or a little more. Less name recognition, but a better feeling watch, from my experience.

Its a shame because they obviously have the ability to create brilliant watches, they just havent been doing it

1:37 well, that's me out 😂 just kidding, but why oh why do they not make more 1953's? Perfect for those of us who don't want to be looking like Flava Flav

Haha, tell me about it! I know, so frustrating, they have the ability to be great and choose not to be. When my mate got it I asked if he's hanging it on the wall or not

All Invicta watches have terrible lume ! They use their own proprietary lume called tritnight ! Just like their proprietary flame fusion crystal !

So what I'm hearing is that they're using fancy names to cover up the crap?

If you SCUBA dive, you don't care how large your diver watch is.
Get SCUBA certified so you can get over your hangup over the size of divers.

No where near the same quality of rolex yet they put their rrp up near their levels. I've heard how bad Rolex fanboys are but Invicta fanboys are another level obviously

This watch is awful. Very heavy and clunky. Design details consist of features taken from at least 5 other brands. Nothing special.
