Invicta really make controversial watches. So many people really like many of their watches, and yet they also make some really challenging looking pieces! This “Grand Diver” is a massive watch and says 300m on the dial. Does this watch have all the required details to make this a bargain proper dive watch? Or is it the junk people sometimes expect from Invicta? Come and form your own opinion!
I really appreciate you watching my content, and if you wish to support the channel, apart from subscribing, check out my eBay shop, as there I have a nice selection of watches and straps I hope you like! Thanks so much. www.ebay.co.uk/str/watchmewit... The small print: All watches in all my videos are genuine items and not copies or fakes. Homage watches are legal and I just review them. I am careful to use the word "homage" when presenting that type of watch, because that is what they are. All images and sounds used are either my own or used under the fair use policy. Thank you. I love all my invictas. They can be regulated to run accurate. The price is great, and just the fact that it annoys some people is icing on the cake.

When people spend $10,000 on a Rolex or Omega, they can get upset that someone else is wearing a reliable and long lasting watch that looks exactly the same for $100. You can buy 100 Invictas or Steel Divers for the price on 1 Rolex.

It’s interesting that the Rolex submariner is just as huge, costs at least 70 times more than the grand diver but more importantly no one seems to complain about its size or it’s diving capability!!! funny how opinions can shift purely on brand name and nothing to do with the product!!!

The larger guys, like me, could wear that watch fine. I have a Grand Diver. Great boating day/beach day watch. Cheap enough to give no cares. Keep in mind, it's a $100 watch with an NH35 on a mostly ok 22mm bracelet. It looks ok. Tough enough to take a beating. A smaller watch (40mm) looks like a toy on my arm. So if you are 6 foot, 200 plus lbs, fits great! For me, if it is smaller than a 42mm, I cannot wear it. Looks puny. My Seiko PADI turtle looks small at 45mm. I actually dive, and no one wears a watch anymore. We all have a dive computers now.

I have this exact model. I personally like the weight and the 47mm size fits well on my wrist. This is a beautiful watch and one of the best watches you can buy for the money. I have 4 Grand Divers. Mine came in a different box. I absolutely love this watch and get a lot of compliments on it. I like the engraving on the sides and the blue on black accents. There’s nothing tacky about it. One of my favorite pieces in my rotation.

As a diver we tend to use a dive watch as a back up to our decompression meter. Putting that aside most diver extensions on dive watches with the odd exception (Rolex Seadweller) are too small to go over a thick wetsuit/drysuit. Most divers use a rubber/silicon strap.
    Regards

I wear a citizen pro master BNO150something on a bracelet with the ratcheting extension as a back up to my dive computer. It fits over a 4 mil wetsuit with no problems. Same goes for my pro master GMT on bracelet. My point is the citizen ratcheting dive extension bracelet is VERY wetsuit friendly. However if you are a cold water diver with a wetsuit thicker than 4 mil, it might be somewhat snug, but I think it would still work ok. Lately I’ve been putting rubber on a doxa 300t...hard to beat. Edit: I meant that as a response to another comment...not for the general comment section...my bad.

99.99 percent of people who wear dive watches, have never and will never go diving and if they do, they will probably forget their dive watch at home. They probably won't know what to do with their dive watch if they do go diving. Probably better to just rely on your diving instructor....LOL!

Invicta will always have a special place in my heart because they are what got me into watch collecting. I was drawn to their bling factor, so many different designs, and mostly modest prices. I probably bought 20-30 in my early years of collecting. Over time, as I learned more about watches and my tastes became more refined, I lost interest in the brand. I definitely understand why they sell so many watches though. At $150 or less they represent good specs and build quality. Above that price point they are simply outclassed.

I got some of my invicta automatics for well under 100 dollars, invicta punches well above its weight for the price. If you want to spend 500 dollars on a invicta it will punch thousands of dollars above its class. Example would be my Swiss made pro diver with Stelleta sw 200 Swiss automatic movement , sapphire Chrystal , and a excellent finish and illumination. It would cost thousands from another company for a similar watch.

I have the 27610 and it fits amazingly on my wrist. As a big guy this is one of the few watches that actually look normal and I like it when a watch is heavy and I feel it around my wrist. And the price is great! The box was much better though, still yellow but no plastic, it was leather and nice velvet inside.

I have the full lumed white dial version with creamsicle indices. I really enjoy the piece for what it is, a decently made essentially disposable dive watch. It is the best looking white dialed automatic sports watch that I have found in the budget range. The lume on the dial is very well done. It looks white , not yellowish white like so many white lumed dial, and has a nice blue glow that really lasts a good while. It is slightly larger than I would like on my average sized wrist, but it is fun to wear. I wish they would do the same color way in the ProDiver line. It is a quirky watch and I agree that the grand diver engraving is a little tacky, but for the price I can overlook it.

The 1953 is exactly the same as all pro divers minus the date and window , of course the finish is a bit more retro. Some of invicta swatches are over the top but some people like that. Especially the big guys where the watch does not look ridiculous on them. The subaqua series of watches are pretty nice but they are five watches , very nice and well made

I feel like you had your mind made up about this watch before your review! Most of your review was purely subjective.9 times out of 10 these will never see the ocean but if they do I bet they perform fairly well! I happen to like the branding.Lume is so overrated most watches lume lasts no more than a few minutes.most budget dive watches have no divers extension on the bracelet! Especially in this price range! Mineral crystal is better for diving I speak from experience as I’m a former police search and rescue diver for many years. Your use the word tacky which insults half your reviewers.I did enjoy some of the objective views but your subjective pilling on of all your negative points seamed predictable after watching the first cpl of minutes! As you’ve probably guessed I own several invictas including this model which all have performed flawlessly but it’s been years since I’ve actually dived.I have more I could say but I refrain because I fear it would sound rude which isn’t my intention just giving constructive criticism. Good luck on your channel hopefully you’ll find a balance between constructive criticism and being insulting,I’m not going to sub at this time but will be watching and hopefully you can be less subjective and more objective,I do understand that reviews aren’t always what you want to hear about the watch you may own and that’s ok but you shouldn’t walk away from the review being shamed because someone views something you like as tacky! Just my 2 cents worth, good day!

It’s a tribal thing both to love Invictas and to hate them. I think this watch is great looking and at 47mm is not near Invicta’s most egregious size excesses. It’s depth is the only thing I don’t like about it. I have a Tresod which is basically a Grand Diver with Sapphire crystals front and back and some great color dials. No one seems to know what the connection Tresod has to Invicta, but it’s unmistakeable. Love or hate them they’ve expanded the watch industry and the number of watch lovers considerably, and that’s a good thing. Thanks for the video!

I had one a few years back. It's quite an upgrade over the pro diver but I couldn't get on with the size and sold it on. My Citizen Promaster Aqualand is the same size but that's to accommodate the tech inside the case. On the plus side, it was the most accurate automatic I ever owned.

Great review brother....I really struggle with this one....there is so much potential with this but his has to be dialled down a notch or ten.... absolutely no need for the thickness, you could easily knock 2mm of and then some....of course there is a market for big watches, each to there own....if they removed the writing on the sides and trimmed it slightly I'd be happy to add it to my collection....there is the self defence element of such a bulbous piece....⌚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A very nice watch indeed. I like the case design and it reminds of the (plastic) Stocker & Yale from the old days. I love titanium and automatic movements although solar is good also. In fact for a retro look field watch I prefer hand wind but they are very hard to find with any decent water resistance. I also prefer just the time and no date. For actual accuracy and outdoor functionality (I'm a survival instructor) nothing beats a Casio G Shock of course but they are not 'dress watches' in my view. Another vintage look, simple design you can find in Bertucci watches. I have a few Hamilton watches as dress watches. Since I also like a vintage looking field watch as an every day beater I'm looking now at a Tandorio 20 bar 36 mm (or 38 mm). They have an automatic movement and you can import them for some 90 euro total (including the EU 21% VAT).

Good reply, if you like retro watches if you can find a old mechanical timed military watch with nato strap they are super cool, not horribly expensive either. Another one I like is a Finn U1 or U50 , they are just pretty salty to buy for a field watch at between 2000 and 3000 dollar range. Hamilton is a nice watch for sure they are just way over priced for what you get. Just my opinion. Cheers

Speaking of quartz submariner homages, there's the Reginald RE-1 on AliExpress, a 15€ ~ homage watch which does the job of telling the time just right for the price point imho. Stainless steel, Miyota 2115 movement, hardlex glass and a little bit of lume (indeed low quality but it's nice there is some for the price point) + 30m water resistance (although it says 300 on the dial lol)
It's absolutely a best buy if you ultimately only care about the looks and try to spend as little as possible

That this watch doesn’t have a divers extension on the band is not a major flaw. The watch is fine for snorkeling, swimming, diving. The reviewer probably took some links off the bracelet. If you dive you would want a watch with a bigger easy to read dial. Very un-original review. He’s regurgitating Invicta hate and knew what he was going to say before he reviewed it. He’s just towing bandwagon hate on here to please the most viewers. I like the weight of 8 oz of steel on my wrist and the presence of a 47mm case diameter. This is a fantastic watch.

      @bullwinklemoose8291 2 роки тому

@@ryokan9120 there are a number of watchmakers on UA-cam that post video's on what they do to service a mechanical watch. Grease only goes on the heavier duty metal on metal parts. Lighter viscosity oil is typically used for rotating parts and the very lightest viscosity oil is used to lubricate the jewels. The watchmakers actually have four different lubricants they use depending on the parts. I'm not a watchmaker so I can't say what is the best lubricant to use for the threaded crown, but I do know that if the lubricant has any chance of making its way inside the watch, whatever is used is an important factor in the long-term functionality of the watch.

I have an older model, a Grand Diver #3049 (blue/gold with the scalloped bezel) as my "daily driver" because I don't want to wear my Movado SE to work. I'm actially wearing it right now. When I don't have it on, I feel weird because it is such a heavy watch and my left wrist is quite accustomed to it.
I have to say that I can't agree with your hate of the words "Invicta" and "Grand Diver" engraved on the case. I think that it looks great and I also love that each centre link is stamped with "Invicta" on the inside of the bracelet. I like it because it shows that Invicta is proud of this watch (they certainly deserve to be) and having the Invicta branding all over it also shouts "This ISN'T a Rolex and isn't trying to be!" which I think is honourable. Nobody buys this watch to make it look like they own a Rolex because while it looks like a Rolex, it's made to be EXTREMELY apparent that it is not.
I've had it for about twelve years without a single hiccup. Not only has the gold plating not come off, it lacks any sign of wear whatsoever. My watch literally looks as good now as the day I took it out of the (much nicer than your) box. It's a shame that they went to that box because the previous box is just gorgeous.
I also LOVE how big it is because my wrist is a 60mm wide rectangle so it's hard to find watches that look good on me (a standard 40mm looks stupidly small). When I look at a normal-sized watch like a Submariner or a Pro Diver, they look like toys next to my beast. This thing is a tank and I think that nothing less than one driving over it would make it stop working. I haven't even managed to scratch the crystal on mine. I just looks perfect and of course, I adore the 3049's blue and gold "bluesy" motif.
    Cheers!

(I retract everything in this post and apologize).
The water rating has nothing to do with how deep the watch can be submerged, it has to do with pressure and temperature. Look at any 10m dress watch. Only a fool would take one into a wading pool even if it is only 1 meter deep. As for the divers extension, if you need the wetsuit, then you need actual diving equipment. If you are beaching it in Waikiki, you will not be wearing a full length wet suit. Yes, the bezel springs are plain steel. You are supposed to drop the watch into a glass of clean water for at least an hour after getting out of the ocean, not just rinse it off. If in doubt, spray underneath the bezel with a waterproof lubricant before swimming. It will not hurt the watch because it is water-tight. When he said he is not an expert, he should include both diving AND watch reviewing.
He barely touched on the fact the Grand Diver sub-series of the Pro Diver collection is the only Invicta watch with the NH-35 automatic movement. My NH-35 over-clocks at 3.5 seconds a day. Any better than that and it would rate with $5000 watches. And they are becoming rare. Last year, the Invicta site was full of the Seiko movements. Today, you have to hunt for an hour to find one. Invicta does not list them separately as Grand Diver. You have to look at every single Pro Diver in the collection.
People who know watches are buying only the Grand Diver model from Invicta because the movement can hardly be bought WITHOUT the watch for the same money. Even if the 300m rating is inaccurate, it is likely 100m tolerant. That means you can swim, snorkel, kayak, and paddle board with confidence.
Go ahead, dude. List all of the reliable and accurate automatic dive watches on the market at this price point. My Grand Diver was $75. I will give you a handicap. Just list the 100m automatics with a reputation for toughness at less than $100.

I admire your passion. You win, this watch offers a lot for the money. If you want a watch circa $100 that is auto and has 100m rating, I would dare to suggest the following:
Any phylida dive style watch, any pagani design dove style watch (also with nh35), many parnis watches, escapement time dive style watch, steeldive (almost all of them) , heimdallr (many of these are good).
I look forward to seeing your successful watch review channel my friend. You should start it with an invicta!

I do quite like your style. I like that you evenly move, from one end of the critique spectrum, to the other. Ya know, it's not a bad watch, for the price, or really even double the price, to be fair. It does actually look quite good on you, as well. One thing about it, if you're sensitive, and can't take a harsh bit of critique......then you probably shouldn't wear a bold, eye catching, statement piece, on your wrist. As it's not going to be to everyone's taste. These reviews are partly about "opinion." Not everyone has the same taste. When I wear something, I wear it because I like it, and the way it makes me look. My feeling is, that if you're going to wear something, that you know is outside of social trends, then leave your feelings at the door. Especially when looking for "like-minded folk," on the internet. Some of the most well made, and my most favorite pieces, in my collection, are Invicta's. Well hate is too strong an expression but my issues with Invicta are these: it's a behemoth of a watch designed to show off. But the truth is: its all fur coat but no knickers. Hollow end links with embossed divers' helmets which is really bad taste and some kind of dodgy choice of crystal plus hideous engraving on each side of the case. I'm sick of hearing that argument that mineral crystels are better for a dive watch, when at the same time the watch is totally unsuitable for diving. And Invicta released a hot watch called 1953 vintage diver and made it unavailable. This was a bit of a rant, but great review as always! Cheers!
