I have never seen a jackal kill anything. I always thought that they arrived after the deed was done in hopes of picking up some scraps. Thanks for showing this. There were so many other storks there, I at least thought that they would offer some aid and peck at the jackal during the attack.

This is great footage. Usually we just see these smoll doggo's standing in the background, looking for scraps, while lions/hyena's/leopards are duking it out for the main feed. Awesome to see them step onto the main stage and get their own feed.

The jackal crushed his windpipe and prevented oxygen from reaching the brain, killing it...almost every predator does this. His wing moving was reflex, he felt no pain he was dead.
That looks to be a Marabou Stork. I've been in the avian field now for nearly 30yrs having both wild & exotic pet species experience. And what's interesting here is the Jackal even attempting this since Marabou's pack one helluva beak. Which could have done some VERY serious damage to this Jackal. If it hadn't had the grasp it did on the bird. So more a VERY lucky Jackal then anything else.
