    I have never seen a jackal kill anything. I always thought that they arrived after the deed was done in hopes of picking up some scraps. Thanks for showing this. There were so many other storks there, I at least thought that they would offer some aid and peck at the jackal during the attack.

    This is a side-striped jackal which is crepuscular,and the least aggressive of the jackals: always hunting alone or with its partner.Dian Swanepoel was very fortunate to catch this on film;especially with the elephants playing.Thanks very much for uploading this Nadav: it's not often you see such a sight..and they were just leaving: probably for an evening meal of their own. That looks to be a Marabou Stork. I've been in the avian field now for nearly 30yrs having both wild & exotic pet species experience. And what's interesting here is the Jackal even attempting this since Marabou's pack one helluva beak. Which could have done some VERY serious damage to this Jackal. If it hadn't had the grasp it did on the bird. So more a VERY lucky Jackal then anything else.

    • @Chronos127
      @Chronos127 6 років тому +1

      Tomtalker I was thinking the same.. jackal must have really snuck up on the stork... or maybe the stork didn't take him as a threat assuming he would beak him.... but either way, once he got around that throat the beak was obsolete.... "GAME OVER MAN!"

    • @jackhoward8
      @jackhoward8 6 років тому +1

      Doesn't matter if the stork was sick or healthy, once the jackal got its teeth around stork's throat, it's over for the stork.

    Me encanta en el inicio del vídeo con la batalla de los dos colosos, para acto seguido pasar a una de menores dimensiones físicas, pero no por eso menos espectacular. Hasta parece poético. En fin, muy rara vez se toma el tiempo para grabar la caza de los pequeños depredadores de la sábana. El Chacal se la rifó, muy versátil, quizás no es un león o un leopardo, pero al menos no está en peligro de extinción :p
