I live next to many Hispanic homes. I've learned that their recipes are cheap and delicious meals. I can a lot of pinto beans and Black beans and use them in many dishes. My neighbors will bring me tamales and taco dishes. I make them homemade bread and cinnamon rolls and they love it.
Until I retired I never had a use for any kind of canner. Since I retired I have time to can but I don't have the money on Social Security to buy a canner. But I do have frozen Italian sausage. I am going to start using things from my freezer to make recipes from the videos that I get from all of the ladies.
I got my canner before the plague so it was significantly cheaper, but I can barely afford jars. They are almost never available used, and if they show up in Marketplace, they are gone before the day is over. They started charging more for quarts vs pints and wide mouth vs regular.
You had me at homed canned sausage. I am so excited about the Make it March collaboration and all of the ways that I can use my homed canned pantry items. Thank you for sponsoring this amazing collaboration. Have a blessed day.
I have canned ground beef and Italian sausage together to use when making lasagna. I usually try to mix 2:1 (ground beef to sausage) unless I'm using hot Italian sausage. Then I mix it 3:1. I still can them separately, so if I make pizza, I can use just the Italian sausage ( half pints come in handy for this). Thanks for sponsoring this collaboration.
This is my first knowledge of Make it March. I guess I'll need to binge the earlier videos tomorrow while it's storming, and I can't work in the garden.
My favorite canning sausage is frying up patties, and stacking them up in a widemouth jars. I grew up frying them on day 2 of hog processing day. I was just tall enough to reach the stove.
Sausage &gravy in a jar!!?? Game changer, who woulda thought it. Thank you Leisa & all who participated in Canuary to Make It March happen y’all are amazing. I can only imagine how much work is involved. This is my first year canning & that is thanks to each & every one of you who showed me it was possible, safe & fun. As Leisa says “It’s a beautiful thing “! Happy canning
When I drove school bus for a living, in winter, I often pulled a burrito, frozen muffin, etc., out of the freezer on the way to work. Put by the defroster in the truck, then by the defroster in my bus, and had a warm second breakfast with my thermos-ed coffee between my morning runs. Also, if I put some of my home-grown frozen blueberries in a small container of my home-made yogurt, a couple hours later, the yogurt is half-frozen, and the blueberries are mostly thawed - and that is really good, too. I do not eat out - it's too expensive, and not as good as the food I grow/cook myself. I can cook better than a short order cook at a fast food place, and with better ingredients.
Hello Leisa! Thank you for sponsoring Make it March! I love all the meal ideas everyone is sharing in this collaboration. I'm learning so much from you and all of the amazing ladies in these collaborations! I have not canned sausage yet, but oh what a great recipe for breakfast! ❤
Lol my husband surprised me with 20 more chicks last week. I take breakfast burritos camping. Just toss them over the fire in the foil. Sausage gravy is another favorite here. I've never had a chaffle.
I use ground sausage with hamburger because I’m not found of ground beef . When I make meatloaf I use both that way I can have leftovers . Two dinners right in a row and I don’t have to cook the next day. Then I can use the leftovers from that to make sandwiches for Bruce to take to work. Light killing three birds with one stone. Great video Leisa .❤ I use the same low carb tortillas. I don’t buy regular tortillas any more because too many carbs. I love the spinach tortillas low carbs. Low fat,
Using foil sheets to wrap the burritos is sheer genius! I would have used saran wrap, but foil makes so much more sense. The chaffles look amazing!, especially smothered in gravy. Thank you for sharing these ideas!
Love watching your videos. Your no nonsense way of looking at things is so refreshing. Your canning and cooking videos are so easy to follow. Thank you
Thank you for linking the Canuary - Pressure Canning Ground Sausage. I just purchased some Italian Ground Sausage with thought of adding to spaghetti sauce but now have even more ideas. Being able to make ahead and freeze is perfect as I am usually cooking for one. Watching the different channels is giving me more confidence with cook with what I have instead of thinking you have to follow a recipe.
You are so creative with your canning recipes. I wish I could peek into your mind... or at least create a Make it March cookbook. Thanks for everything you do!
Absolutely going to be making all these great recipes! We love breakfast food for any meal. These are so quick and easy, and you can't beat ready to go meals. Thanks for participating in Make It March!!
Love this collaboration…I canned 14 pints blueberry syrup and 4 quarts of ugly chicken today. It’s French toast with blueberry syrup tomorrow morning! Thank you for this video❤❤❤
Ground sausage is just another canned favorite of ours. We often have breakfast for dinner. And we love to use canned ground sausage on our homemade pizza. Thanks Leisa for another great videos.
Looks good girl!! I noticed that the price of eggs went down from the debacle of a year ago but never down to where they were before. Now they have crept back up. Not as high as the highest but about double of cost before the debacle. Thank you for your participation! 😊
Love my canned pork sausage, and Italian sausage. So convenient for dressing up a frozen pizza, a sausage egg and cheese casserole, and adding to spaghetti sauce, and of course, sausage gravy and biscuits!
So many ways to use up you Canned Sausage, 3 awesome items, Breakfast burritos, Chaffels ( love them), sausage gravy. Thank you for showing how to use that Canned Sausage that is sitting on your self....
I started canning a couple years ago. Been following you ever since. Figuring out recipes to use my canned goods in has been a challenge. I need these kind of vids to help. Thank you!😊
I can meats, but have never canned ground meats. I've watched your videos on the ground meats and I'm finally going to give them a try. Thank you for continuing to make videos and helping all the people out there that are willing to learn. 🙏🙌❤️
Three for the price of one!😀 Thank you for showing a variety of ways to use canned sausage; not to mention the convenience of just opening a jar and warming it up. I will bear this in mind next time we buy a hog.
Hello Leisa, I don't comment much but I just wanted to share something. We don't raise our own pigs here but I have been going to our local butcher that gets their meats from local farmers to us and I've been getting their country sausage with no added MSG in it and it's delicious. I've already canned some of it up.❤
I need to can my sausage. Ground sausage, sausage patties. I recently had a freezer start defrosting because the door was left ajar. The more I put on my shelf, the less in my freezers. I can reduce my freezers, reduce my power bill and reduce my risk of losing food! Thank you for the idea.
OMG Leisa! The first time I saw you wrap one of these breakfast burritos, I thought of a baby's diaper! Two great minds with but a single thought! How funny it was to hear you to liken it to a baby's diaper.
Love my canned sausage. I like to take my biscuit dough, roll it out then spread sausage on it. Roll cut and bake. Can add cheese or scrambled eggs. So good.
Gonna make these up and freeze them for the upcoming camping season. Make the mess at home and have the bonus of no clean up at camp. That leaves more time for play👍🏻
Breakfast Burritos, once made, such a convenient food. I like what another commenter suggested. Throw it over the fire and breakfast is done. I've never heard of chaffles before but after seeing you throwing them together with the canned sausage and cooking them in the dash waffle cooker. Think I may have to run out and buy me one of them. And that sausage gravy. so good. Thanks so much for sharing and also thanks for providing another chance to win a pressure cooker.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I have been canning sausage from processing our 2nd pig. And, truthfully, I was needing some new ideas. To the rescue.......
Uoohhh la la! That was a tripleheader. Three great ways to eat the ground pork/sausage that you have in jars in your pantry. Awesome ideas, Leisa. Never heard of chaffles but I could eat those anytime of day. Sausage gravy & burritos can be eaten for every meal.
I have never heard of a chaffle ( not sure how it's spelled) but I would eat it just like you made it. That looks amazing as is. I love breakfast burritos and gravy biscuits is a staple food where we come from. Hubby is impressed and told me to find a little waffle maker . We're getting older, gotta watch what we intake so the lower sugar I really appreciate. Then with the economy, this all makes sense. I loved this video, thank you for teaching me something new I can make for breakfast. ❤
Oh, that looks so good. I love having ready-to-go breakfasts because cooking the first thing in the morning is not my idea of fun…lol. The days of getting up and cooking for my family are long gone. I’m the only one here for breakfast. My son doesn’t take the time to eat before leaving for work, but maybe I can change that with a burrito he can grab on his way out the door to take with him. Great ideas, as always, Lisa!
I make breaky burritos in super large quantities. I mix the cheese in as well as salsa then fill roll and flash freeze. So convenient!!! I also had never heard of a chaffle. Think I will test it out with the Gravy this week. Thanks Leisa for the collaboration and these great quick recipes from the shelves!
Thank you for setting up the March Collaboration. I haven't canned sausage before but will next time it is on sale I usually just freeze it but canning is a much better idea.
I was taking a drink when you said the chaffle is just a vessel to get the sausage gravy into your face, and I almost spit it out onto my monitor. LOL! I LOVE your videos.
Because of this video, i made these last Sunday while I was making a Sunday breakfast. I never remember to eat breakfast during the week and i end up with headaches due to not eating. I made 5 breakfast burritos for the week. Happy tummy and no headaches. Planning on doing that again this weekend. It is a great way to use my home canned sausage. Mixing it up and change some ingredients from week to week. Thank you for the tip.

Can't comment on you video here unless I added it to your comment. So try making stuffed peppers with the canned sausage..😊

I wrap my breakfast burritos in freezer wrap and heat in the microwave. Perfect everytime.

Three great recipes for ground pork! I really like the last one! Thank you! Grow those chickens!!
I love having canned meat readily available, including sausage!

Great! I have ground pork canning on my new list.I had ZERO problems out of what I canned last year.

Have not tried caning my own pork sausage but I LOVE thrive’s freeze dried sausage. Use it in scrambled eggs, omelettes, even on pizza
Ah, and I even have an unopened can of that! I’m surprised Leisa didn’t mention Thrive. Did you find it has enough fat for your recipes? Thx!
Love my canned pork sausage, and Italian sausage. So convenient for dressing up a frozen pizza, a sausage egg and cheese casserole, and adding to spaghetti sauce, and of course, sausage gravy and biscuits!

More great ways to use canned food. Thank you
Breakfast burritos are the best, especially when I can grab one out of the freezer! Thanks for Make It March and all the great ideas, Leisa.
Never heard of chaffles. Great use of sausage with all 3 items.
I agree canned food is the best convenience food. Sausage gravy is the best!
Happy to see this recipe as I have canned sausage on my selves.
Because of this video, i made these last Sunday while I was making a Sunday breakfast. I never remember to eat breakfast during the week and i end up with headaches due to not eating.
