I wish sea towns and others to stop using the phrase boardwalk when a lot of them are paved or concrete, the word came from Atlantic City because the use wooden "boards" not plastic or paved or concrete. I went to many of your places here and laughed when every one in Virginia beach called that paved bike lane a boardwalk

Asbury Park resident here. Strongly disagree that Asbury is run down. The city has come a long way, and it has the most to do nightlife wise in the area. The downtown has a lot of really cool bars and shops. There's a great music scene here, and you can see bigger bands at the Stone Pony, smaller band at Asbury Lanes, and really underground bands in the church funny enough. The boardwalk isn't my favorite in NJ, but there's plenty of restaurants and cool things Silver Ball the pinball museum. The casino really could use some work, and it is pretty empty north of Convention Hall, so I hope to see more stuff open there. I would give the city another chance and for others dont be detered from visiting. I like your videos a lot, though, and I think the music you use is really cool

disagree Atlantic city is a dump anywhere off the boardwalk. ocean city or wildwood

I don’t think Atlantic City deserves to be number one either. It does have a lot to offer and a lot of history. But Atlantic City would be so much better if it wasn’t full of junkies and criminals.

Great video! I went to Manasquan beach a couple years ago! Yeah, without a doubt, Atlantic City is the most lively beach town. Manasquan Beach, in the other hand, is not too lively, but is actually a really nice and clean beach, and is pretty empty, not too crowded, and there are no amusing parks there and not too many stores.

Wildwood isn’t the best beach but it’s def the best boardwalk imo. But also Atlantic City isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I like AC’s boardwalk as well. If ur visiting AC theres really not much you’d need to be leaving the beach, casino, or boardwalk for but the very few things there are like the outlets or Lucy the elephant; they are completely safe.

Wildwood or Ocean City NJ are the best boardwalks. And I have been to many that you have listed . But everyone has there own opinion.

I was surprised to see that Old Orchard Beach in Maine wasn’t listed either in the rankings or as an honorable mention. The town has the amusement parks and attractions you’d expect of seaside towns in the Northeast. But they lack the most important thing for this list: No boardwalk or promenade along the beach. How is it that OOB doesn’t have one?

I mean sea isle city isn’t much of a “boardwalk town” but the night life is very lively. And also to have Rehoboth beach over ocean city NJ is kind of crazy

The downside of the NJ beaches are that you have to pay to get on but an overlooked plus is that many you can get to by train. AC has direct service from Philadelphia and from NYC you can access all the beaches from Long Branch to Pt. Pleasant.
Also, I know that you prefer bustling boardwalks but towns like Spring Lake, Ocean Grove and, yes, Manasquan are so much more pleasant to spend the day at if you don’t like huge crowds and the seediness that often comes with beach culture.

Yeah, a lot of people I know slander boardwalks that are crowded, and prefer the peaceful and pleasant ones. My rebuttal to them is always "Then why did you go to a boardwalk town?" The towns south of Asbury Park are definitely more peaceful and the boardwalk/esplanade is more of a waterfront trail.

@@ExploretheNortheastTotally. It’s hard to find one place that will appeal to everyone. If it wasn’t for my kids, I’d never set foot in Wildwood, Seaside Heights or Atlantic City again but if we went to Sea Girt, Strathmere or Sandy Hook they would be bored out of their minds. So we’ve found a middle ground in places like Ocean City, Sea Isle and Ocean Grove.
Curious, did you happen to make it to Asbury Park before all of the heavy investment in the beachfront? The city has come a long way and I think it’s probably great for the residents but there was something evocative and melancholic about the blighted early 20th century architecture set against the ocean. It was a great place for auctions, art expos and skateboarding. It’s pretty amazing how quickly it went from that to bougie hipster paradise.

Atlantic City is the only one on the list that you would want to go off season.

Good work but i disagree with where u put wildwood. It should be either 1 or 2. They have so many things to do including concerts on the beach.

Wait, so do boardwalks in state parks not count or something? I'm trying to figure out how Jones Beach doesn't make it but Atlantic Beach does.

Yeah I guess I was trying to avoid including separated waterfront parks, since that would have increased the number dramatically. Was trying to keep it more to those incorporated into the towns, and put the others on the honorable mentions list. Fine gripe though. Thanks for watching.
