Keep up with your son. I missed out on so much with my kids when I was in the Army and now when I work on my own junk, I’m by myself. Your kid is more important than any money in the world.
My dad wasn’t around as much as I would have liked because my parents were divorced. Kinda chokes me up a bit seeing you and your boy having a great time making memories doing what you love. I salute you sir.
Sorry to be "Mr. Safety Police", but consider getting Lucas some safety shoes to wear around the shop. The Crocs he is wearing will be no match in the event he dropped something like that engine on his foot. Ear protection is clearly need too... at 16:45, he runs away while covering his ears with his hands. I'm 63 and suffer from moderate tinnitus (ringing in the ears) - I can assure you that it sucks. We know a LOT more about the effects of things we experienced as youths and should know (and, more importantly, DO) better for our kids going forward. Some gloves protection would help too. You are a great dad and he seems to be a great son!
This reminds me of when my Late Dad and I built a mini bike for me back in the mid-60's. Dad was a Union Pile Driver/Welder. He made everything for it from scratch. R.I.P Dad and Mom. I miss you both more everyday.
Awesome stuff and the fact he asked to wear his helmet was cool alot of us over look it just to test or what not and it only takes a few minutes that could save your life !
You know the brakes didn't work because of the Roadkill sticker on Little Man's helmet 😂 Awsome, parenting! Love see my kids get excited like yours did. Great feeling
Imma say Dave you have to ve so proud and I'm proud for you both. Love that you're teaching the boy right, you're patient with him and letting him do a lot of the work himself. I damn near cried because it brought back so many memories of my childhood. I was doing the same thing with my dad when I was his age out in the garage or shop or wherever wrenching and learning. Love it!!!
I have to admit some jealousy here. Neither of my sons were really interested in learning anything about working with their hands. My older son did piddle around on an old beater we had, but nothing serious. Enjoy the time with yours...these are the memories that will last a lifetime.
Mr Newbern you are molding your son for a great future. And learning him in a common sense manor. And Derek B. Would be proud your teaching safety squints lol. All kidding aside you are building a bond and craft that keep the next generation in the car community bravo sir.
I'm not a Dad. We chose a life with no children, and as such, my opinion is really moot. However, I can tell you're doing it right. That whole video gave me joy. I can only imagine how you felt. 👊
So is the little man 6 Volt Dave? I love it man. Love the way you and Derek include your boys in what you do. When my son was little he was always in the shop with me and his grandfather. I’ve always believed in exposing kids to anything and everything I could. You never know what they will connect with. Love the channel Dave, keep um coming.
When your son was putting on the lock washers and nuts I just flashed back to my youth. Thats when you start to learn how it feels to work on things. That feeling of how a nut starts and you get to the point you can do it upside down in the dark. Your son is getting a great headstart and I'm sure there are many more epic adventures for you two. I treasured all the time I spent in the garage with my dad 60 years ago!
Dave, I loved this episode! I'm 70 now, and Your Son's excitement and hangin' with You, his Dad makin' it happen, Wow! I can remember those days with my own Dad! this episode took me right back to those days in the 60's. Epic!!! You and Your Boy will never forget these days! Your Sonner Is HOOKED, Now! 🤣👍👍👍👍
You are going to want to check the rules on that chassis before painting or powder coating it. I'm pretty sure it's missing some bars in the cage around the helmet. We run a chassis that looks exactly like that one and the rules have changed since it was built. That fuel tank is probably too big also. I think they can only be 1 qt. Regardless, have fun with it and your boy! Jr dragracing is fun for the whole family and keeps the kids out of trouble!
So sick! He's a little ripper with big things ahead. Great to see a father sharing a passion. My old man has worn off on me over the years and made me the tinkerer that I am today, we never had the money for many toys but what we did was more valuable in experience than financial.
Way to go Dad, he is going to have a great time with it. Kids like him are the future of racing and automotive. I see the you both have the safety Crocs 😅
Hey buddy! Seeing his joy made my day. You've made memories and a connection that will last a lifetime. Keep it up. I have so much respect for you and the boundaries you’ve set to prioritize your family. It really helps other people (like me, lol) set theirs and make sure their wives aren't car widows and their kids aren't car orphans 😅
its very refreshing to watch your son with his respect for you im hoping that its not just on camera but anyways he seems as though he loves his stuff and respects them and he is outside for todays kid thats rare in its self i drive through my moms neighborhood where i grew up and not a kid out on bicycle or playing ball fighting one another they are not outside ever anyways good job
Great memories your building up with your son, keep it up. My little guy is 6'2" and finishing collage in May with a Me and specialty on turbines systems in Aeronautical Engineering. They are little once enjoy those times they are so precious.
This video made me both happy, and sad. Its absolutely awesome you are doing this with your son, and you can see how much he looks up to you,and the love he has. My Pops showed me stuff, but it was usually as he was yelling at me, lol. You are doing a fantastic job as a parent. Looking forward to the new generation of " Faster " stars.
I remember when my dad helped me work on my go-cart. It was how I got started working on cars and performance engines. I was on cloud nine! It's good to see your son happy like that. He'll be telling others when he's grown about ya'll working on his Jr dragster!
You good sir are a legend, what a fantastic father son project, soooooo great to see you working and teaching your son, memories in the making, love your work ❤️ ❤ much love from waaaaay down under in New Zealand 🇳🇿
Smiled the hole time watching your son’s excitement an over all energy. I can say I wish this was my child hood! Loved this kind of content please do more like this soon
start with the Ghost? If you want to run the engine for a season without modifying it then yes. I'll go along with that... but for the price of the Ghost and the accessory kit, you can get a non hemi 212 and upgrade everything that's upgraded in the ghost to a much higher level, get more power, more reliability, and spend less.
I had to leave a comment like everyone else, and they are all saying the same. You and Luca are a credit to each other, and you give him just the right amount of encouragement to get his hands dirty, and enough mind to not lose his nuts...(!!...;D) My Parents have given me a huge amount of talent for fixing stuff...You are setting him up for life. Well done Dave hats off...
I race with the same harbour freight motor and it’s what got me into racing. My jr career is almost up but can’t wait to go full send into a full size drag car.
Keep up with your son. I missed out on so much with my kids when I was in the Army and now when I work on my own junk, I’m by myself. Your kid is more important than any money in the world.
Absolutely!

You are the "Man's Man" in sharing your life with your Son like you do 🇺🇲
Same here Adam. I’d trade every moment in the military to go back and get more time.
My dad wasn’t around as much as I would have liked because my parents were divorced. Kinda chokes me up a bit seeing you and your boy having a great time making memories doing what you love. I salute you sir.
If we could just go back 30 years for a redo ....

You are one of the best Dad's ever!

Great job 12volt. He seems so stoked to rip that for real. My daughter has a little quad n she busts out those same smiles👍
I will second your son's sentiment about this episode..."Holy Crap that was awesome!"
Makin' memories, way better than making money. Your son will remember this day long after we're gone. Awesome video David, Thank you!
7am feeding my 7 month old watching this dreaming of the day he can get his own dragcar
As a father...that is the greatest feeling in the world to see your child that excited and to feel that hug!
David , you get my vote for best Dad of the week !!!!
Love Lucas enthusiasm....way to go Dad!
So much goodness in this video! ❤

Safety Squints for the win.
Great to see the progress, 12 Volt. I hope 6V continues to be learning.

That’s what family is ALL about…
Good on you
Your boy is gonna be a good man
Love seeing you sharing your passion for motorsports with your son. I did the same with my boys and now they're as messed up as their dad! 😂
This makes me smile ear to ear,

How to parent in one video. Well done
You’re the luckiest man in the world. My daughter and I did quarter midgets. The best time of my life.
Great Father and Son moment right there. Very happy kid and very proud Dad. Great job!
Pulling on my feel strings. This is awesome. Love your content.

That's got to be the fastest any kid has run to do their homework. 🤣
It's surprising how quick those things are for the power.
Your son is awesome. You managed to impart the ability to actually use his brain instead of just letting the internet raise him.
He's SOOOOO happy!!!!! Good job dad!
Love the Manitoba plate on the rambler!
Great kid, Dave! That was a lot of fun to watch 🙂 I'm jealous of Lucas because doing stuff with my dad was never like that.
You only can make memories by doing things. Love your son’s enthusiasm…
Great Job Dad😉

I like how when told to go do his homework Lucas just turned and ran toward the house. No complaining or whining. Awesome little guy!
Heck yeah I missed this channel
Thank you

Awesome! Nothing better than seeing your kid putting in the work and having such excitement when it runs again.
I'm a Dad and I loved this episode.
This is the episode I’ve been waiting on.
You made the little man happy seeing the smile on his face is worth the price 👍
Never before have seen a kid running to get his homework done! He is stoked!
It’s great to see how pumped he was when you guys got it started.
We are all Lucas while watching this.....
Wow ... Just see your son so excited.... Made me cry ... Brought back a lot of memories of my first go-kart

Awesome shed and love the lien too. Nice and big container and lien to.
I love how excited he is! We're getting into JR's for my daughter, this definitely fires me up about it
Welcome back, sir!!! I am so glad to see your son, so enthusiastic and excited it’s awesome to see dad and son project
1977 Honda CB750A (A-Automatic) would be a great engine to put in one when he gets older. Set him up for faster speeds when he can start with v8.
I had to leave a comment like everyone else, and they are all saying the same. You and Luca are a credit to each other, and you give him just the right amount of encouragement to get his hands dirty, and enough mind to not lose his nuts...(!!...;D)

"But I can lose my dad's hardware" had me absolutely cracking up 😂
This had me grinning ear to ear brother.
Best day at work ever is when it's with Dad! Trust me, I know. And I to wear Safety Crocs in the shop!
Racing jrs was some of the funnest times I’ve had with my son. Moved into jr street and it’s even better!

Bet you’re having a blast working on projects with Lucas who digs in and gets things done. 😎
6volt grew at least 2 volts!! He’s not gonna fit in anything but the mustang pretty soon!!
That was great watching your son get that excited, Thanks for sharing, 👍😎👍
So cool to hang out with your fam bam. Especially when you get to work on stuff together.
I race with the same harbour freight motor and it’s what got me into racing. My jr career is almost up but can’t wait to go full send into a full size drag car.
Your boys "LET'S GO" even got me fired up. He's gonna be trouble in a good way.
This is absolute gold! I would love to have something similar for my 6 year old here in the UK!!
I'll use my dad's hardware! 😆 This made my day, Dave! Great job!
I like the steel toed Crocs your son is wearing. Nice shoe choice.😂😂
Great to see, David. Thanks for the video.
