#1 tip, you're right! You have to have good water! We had a well for years, hated it, even though we had a water softener. Got city water and still installed a water softener. Makes the biggest difference.

Great video Lisa! No I agree that cutting your hair doesn't make it grow, but I have had many instances where split ends have then split so far up they have broken off. Keeping it trimmed regularly stops that, plus like you said your hair just looks healthier and 'longer' at any length 👍

I’m not blonde. I’m 53, not Grey and a dark brunette with very long hair. After I blow dry my hair, I turn on cool temperatures to cool down the heat which does great for me hair. I apply my post blow out cream. I learned from my hairstylist is to keep our heater on at home in low temperatures because if we crank up the heat, our scalp starts to sweat out causing build up and other scalp irritation that will trigger hair shedding and whatnot. Another thing to consider is some of us are going through menopause can affect our hair health. She also said it’s important to find quality shampoo for our hair type. A lot of people are using wrong shampoo not suitable for certain hair types and many are using bad shampoo products that are destroying our hair.

This is exactly what I have learned works for my hair. Olaplex makes it brittle and I need oil and other moisture ingredients. I have just realised that the breakage I always have is due to using ponytails in the humidity of Singapore. I just use the clips now. Coloured hair is fragile hair. I do my own roots with just colour until I feel the need for more colour tones. I don’t style it as much as you but air dry. Totally agree on the softener. One thing I would add that I think is helping me is Biosil. It definitely makes my nails stronger and my hair seems to be growing out stronger too.

Olaplex snapped my hair off too! Terrible, I would never let anyone use it on me again…. My hair is now long again after that mishap but it took years!

you have to cut off split ends if you have them because split ends will continue to split up the hair shaft thereby shortening the hair. so yes, you need to get the hair trimmed ever so often. you need to also not only put oil on the ends but the scalp as well.

Currently doing all that I can to help it grow and I think my most recent hair loss was due to moving to a new area with bad city water and no softener or filter yet. Thanks so much for all your tips! Would you ever consider doing an updated Monat video? I'm very interested in trying and would love an update on your thoughts on the system overall. My hair is up in my profile picture, but I have hair that reaches over my bum. I don't color it or bleach it, but your tips were amazing. So many people ask me how I got it long, and say theirs doesn't grow, but then gradually as the conversation goes on they tell me they go to their hair dresser every 6-8 weeks and have it trimmed. And they won't even get it when I tell them at that point! My hair is naturally wavy and only in my 30s could I wear it for what it was, without straightening it to death. Those days are over now. Nice, healthy, natural texture hair. I know you can't even tell, but... trust me, when I brush it dry it goes poof.

I don’t know, I actually had a horrible experience with Olaplex too.
I have virgin hair and purchased the shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner and oil. The oil actually isn’t too bad but every time I washed my hair with the Olaplex regimen my hair felt frizzy and filmy. I actually had to trim my hair after 3 weeks of using their shampoo and conditioner and just gave up on it all together. I didn’t have damaged hair to begin with but my hair definitely became damaged afterward. I spend $100+ on the hair care products and now they just sit in my shower wasting space.

Love these tips! And yes olaplex ruined my hair! Im a stylist for 25 years. Im pretty savy with all the things. My hair was so gummy and breaking and gross. The second I stopped it started to back to normal. With cutting the hair…a little goes a long way. I call them eye lash trims. LOL. You don’t need a lot. The thing is if you don’t trim when needed this happens…yes it grows from the top of the head…but it will split from the bottom and you wont get a long strand it’ll split up and not long…and then breaks if that makes sense. :) I’ve been doing these tips and i have longer hair than I’ve had in my whole life.

Great video. I have blonde long hair and all your tips are very useful for me. I use the Moroccan oil but will try the Kerastase oil too and the Coleen Rothschild shampoo and mask. Thank you for all your tips!

Hey Lisa! The new Dyson attachment helps to smooth my flyaways more. If you’re able to buy it separately, try it out🌸 Have you tried the Oribe gold lust line? What do you think of it? 💖

The best thing I ever did for my hair was quit using silicone in it. The various forms keep hydration, which keeps the hair flexible and strong, from getting into the shaft and it takes stronger shampoos to remove the buildup, which ends up stripping the hair. It's a double whammy of death for my blonde hair. LOL But within about 2 months of no silicone, my husband (who isn't the type to be super observant) noticed a difference. That was all I needed to never look back at anything with silicones. I agree with you on the soft/filtered water thing, though. It makes a huge difference, especially with blonde hair.
Thank you for this video! I actually do a lot of the same things you do and my hair is about the same length, and looks like probably the same texture/thickness, as yours so it was fun to see how you do your haircare. 😊

My thyroid really wrecked my hair :( You can see my scalp in many areas. I’m hoping after meds I will start to see improvement. Good products make a difference.

If someone wants a cooler blond. Keeping a shadow root is best for not bleaching it all the time. A more moisturizing purple shampoo is a good idea. Snoods are a stylish way to put hair up. They come in many colors and look cute not lunch ladyish. Balancing protein and moisturizing conditioners is key.

You have beautiful hair...but my hair is in layers so I cannot go without using hot rollers/hot air brush every day. I do use a good shampoo/conditioner, argan oil on my ends, heat protectant. If I didn't work I probably wouldn't do that every day, but I have to. As a side note, your makeup today looks really good :)

So true about the water softener. I also grew up with one. The only time I didn't have one was when I was in college. Not only is it great for your hair and skin, but your appliances benefit also. If we have to travel, we are so ready to get home to get a decent shower. I am trying to figure out what to do about my fairly recent menopausal hair and the products to use. The struggle is real. I can only imagine how worse off my hair would be if we didn't have a soft water unit.

YES!! That is how Lisa J found out she needed one, the water was making her pipes leak--the build up and the joints! Imagine what it does to us! 🥰 Lisa

Hi, I’m a new subscriber to your channel. Love your content and congratulations btw. You’ve a beautiful hair! Are you familiar with the Mason Pierson’s hair brush? They’re expensive but it’s a lifestyle investment specially for ppl with long hair. They are great for detangling. It will for sure replace all your hairbrushes.

I have well water and before my water softener, my hair would literally smoke when I blow dried it because of the iron content. It was so brittle, felt like exactly like a straw broom. The filter alone was not enough! The softer was key!!!!

Hi Lisa! When you talked about not liking olaplex, did you mean hair dye or the shampoo? I wasn’t certain what you meant when you said he used it on you. Thank you!

I used the revlon and loved it untill... it destroyed my fine thin hair it was partly my own fault because I was using a leave in conditioner but not a heat protection product. In the end I had to cut several inches off my hair because along with the revlon and no heat protection products I was also doing color and high lights 🤦‍♀️
