    You have given some great tips again Jamie. I am really enjoying your videos, I know they take a lot of extra work to do, but try to keep them coming as they really do help :)

      Thanks' Lynton its great to know the videos are useful. Next video should hopefully be out next week as I now have another picture under way, I always find it is good to work on more than one picture at a time, with one at an initial stage as this will build quite quickly and gives me a break from working in such detail. Thank you for taking the time to watch and commenting.

      @@JamieBoots You are a great teacher. I am learning a lot from you. Would like to know how do you blend, if you blend, your graphite pencils. I know it depends on the current work.

    • @JamieBoots

      @@BMJArt I alway use a blending stump to blend out tone. For the best result you want one with a velnty feel to the end Caran d'ACHE/Faber Castlle both work well. If the end feels hard and smoot it is no good. You can also use cotton buds/Qtips and even make-up brushes but personally in the picture I mainly use the stump. For larg areas makeup pads or sponges. Hope this is of help.

      @@JamieBoots thank you. That is what I use to, but for the large areas I have discovered a tissue paper. Blends beautifully without patches, which I can get sometime with stumps.

      @@BMJArt Blending is so important with so many tools that can be used as graphite can be manipulated in many ways to create different effects. I think different types of cloth may also work but have not tried this yet.

      Hi Will, Thank you so much for the comment. Some reference I take my self and others come from friends. Getting reference to work from can be difficult because you have to be careful of copyright but there are sites on the internet such as Pixabay who offer some royalty free images. Alternatively, alot of photographers do sell the rights to artists to use their images. The going rate in the UK for this is around £25-£35 per photo' and this should also come with paperwork giving you the right to use the image. Hope this is of help. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask as I am always glad to be of help.

    What are the strokes you are doing with the dart?

    • @JamieBoots
      @JamieBoots  9 місяців тому +1

      The type of stoke will vary depending on the area that I am working on for example shorter coarser fur requires a short coarse stroke as opposed to longer fur which is a more long and tangled one. After the texture has been indented into the paper a blunt pencil can be used to lightly brush tone over the top to reveal the underlying texture. The area around the whiskers that I was working on is a shorter stroke but as I moved away to the surrounding area this required a slightly longer one. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
