Follow the break in procedure, change the piston with a new one before the rings snag at least one time. Always use Amsoil Dominator with some MotorKote, this has saved my jugg. Also flat stone the mating surfaces and spray the gaskets with copper head gasket sealant.

I bought a $25 Runleader Temp / Tack gauge. I no longer have to worry about destroying an engine from riding too long & overheating. I should have bought it 1st instead of wasting $12 on the rpm type gauge only.....For more cooling you could make a cylinder head air scoop. They used to use them on old air cooled 2 stroke motorcycles before switching to water cooled. They do work by increasing airflow to the cylinder. Or build a "thermosyphon" style radiator out of a car heater core for the mini radiator, some fittings , copper or aluminum tubing that's wrapped around the cylinder cooling fins & some rubber hose, hose clamps. Thermosyphon style works without a water pump. Used on early 20th century car engines.
