Yes, call me crazy, this is my usual daily routine. It takes up around 30 minutes per day plus bonding time and I don't mind.
Some days I'll leave out one thing or another... If I feel really tired I'll just add the whole food in before I go to sleep. If I had a long day I will not spot clean the cage or wash their glider kitchens (I have 6 spare ones to use instead)....If I don't have the time I will not play with them in the evening. Some days we can be awesome suggie parents, other days the simple fact that we try our best still makes us pretty awesome :-)
Sugar gliders are very adorable marsupials and I love mine very much, but don't buy them as an impulse as they have very special needs and you have to be well informed before purchasing them.
A good staple diet with all the nutrients and supplements they need is a must. Pellets are only to be used as occasional snacks or during the day in case they get hungry. Other than that a pelleted diet is not a complete diet.

I haven't seen another suggie owner on UA-cam who puts as much time and effort as you do into their enclosure, food prep, making/buying toys for them, bonding and introducing new gliders, and educating the public on caring for them. My brother had a pet sugar glider years ago. She was a runty single birth and so he got her for really cheap.
You're not supposed to do that, we know that now, but at the time none of us had a clue. She was really well adjusted though because he and dad had a lot of time to give her and she bonded really well with both of them.
She free roamed a lot, and in the middle of the night she would bark and bark and bark and until dad came out of his room to investigate.... and then she'd dive bomb him and land on his head. It was so cute.

you have to buy them in at least pairs, they are colony animals
Hippie Love if you have the time for it, you can have just one. You just need a lot of time, which most people don’t so that’s why you are recommended to get them in pairs.
@@jkthesecretslayer that is actually not correct, no matter how much time you spend with a sugar glider you can never replace a cage mate. You MUST have 2 or more sugar gliders or they will get very lonely, this will cause them to stop eating and self mutilate and eventually die. It's very morbid but it's the reality of keeping a colony animal alone/neglected.

I take Avocado and Beowulf to work with me. They are also my ESA pets. The VA gave them their papers a few months ago.

I love being a suggie slave! For those who don't know it's what we call ourselves because our lives usually revolve around theirs. Mine have their very own bedroom and I've got four currently. Unfortunately I've got a "sweet" girl who is an absolute meanie and loves to bully my two girls so I've got to take turns with the cage, I'm looking forward and working on getting them all bonded as she's the one who is the trouble maker and beats up on them so they're not all uncaged at the same time. They're spoiled and I wouldn't have it any other way, I love my gliders to the moon and back.

We have over 15 sugar gliders at home, we have a special room for them to roam around. Sometimes it's really hard to manage time for them, but they soothe my heart ಥ‿ಥ

I don't think I'm going to stick with the diet they are on now. From what she's told me she feeds them it really doesn't sound to be very balanced. A lot of fruits and vegetables and not much protein and she hasn't been giving them any vitamin supplements. I know she isn't using any sort of staple diet with them and I kinda feel like that's a really important thing to do. I'm going to give your recipe a try and see how they like it. I can't wait to get them home I'm very excited to care for them and bond with them!

I really enjoy your videos. You obviously care very much. I don't have any gliders but I really want some it's just I travel too much. The one thing that I really hate about sugar gliders is cutting their nails. I dont dare to and i also cant hold them on my arms because their nails made me bleed several times. How do u cut its nails?!

We use a sand paper insert for their wheel to file their nails down naturally and then we remove it once they're at a comfortable length so they dont get too short.
Theres a certain wheel for them you can buy that kinda files down their nails so you dont have to.
It really takes 2 people, one to hold and one to cut unless your gliders are very well behaved. i have a female who will stand still and let you cut her nails but i have 3 males that hate it . i hold and my wife cuts, there tougher than you think and will fight tooth and nail so you need a pretty good grip. be careful to only tip the nail, they need those nails. i also bought a wheel that comes with a sand paper liner to help dull the nails, i put it on there wheel 1 day per week and that helps.

I have two of these critters :) skippy and mocha bean every night we give them a bowl of dry food, one of vegtables, and one of fruit and we play with them every other night
Love, love, love your kitchens! Totally ingenius. I serve a raw salad to our guinea pig (not as cool as suggested) twice daily, in addition to his grass hay and supplemental pellets and will fin a way to incorporate "kitchens" as soon as we build a bigger habitat. Most teeny pet owners don't realize how much is involved in their care or how if you aren't there, their needs are not met by a typical cat or dog sitter. Thanks for the education and know your dedication to your suggestions love and care is amazing.

I'm a new suggie mother and I was wondering what toys your sugar gliders like and play with the most? I have been making climbing ropes out of fleece for them and it also seems they like to play with bells.
My boys are in my pockets and hoods from when i wake up until playtime lol

Congratulations :-) They are super adorable and once you get the hang of it they are not that difficult to take care of. As long as you keep them in a big cage with at least one friend, surround them with safe to use toys and cage items and feed them a healthy staple diet they are pretty happy! :-D

I'm glad my suggies aren't the only ones who bark/sing at night. It's almost 1:00a.m. and I can hear them talking to each other. I have a pair of grays. They are both 6 years old. The girl, Lucy, was from a breeder and my little boy, Axl, was given to us from a previous owner. Luckily, he was neutered before we got him. They have such big personalities!

Please neuter the male, especially since they are related. If you are doing proper intros, then age or gender will not matter, especially if all males are neutered. I have a video on how I introduced my gliders....I'm sorry, you will have to turn your volume up, up, up :-D But it might give you a few helpful tips on how you can do this. Just go look at my video list in case you are interested. I introduced a 13 year old male to my two 1 year old twins and then I introduced a 3 month old baby to the existing trio so with patience it will *usually* work out.

I love this! I have two babies of my own and feel like this gave me a few great ideas. For the bottom of the cage lining I think I saw that you use fleece is that right? Also the feeding hut is genius and I will be buying some tubs soon, what do you use to wash them if I may ask? I'm always afraid dish soap will be too strong smelling for them.
Yes, I'm using fleece blankets for the bottom. The glider kitchens (not my idea) are really awesome and they help so much! I wash the feeding things with regular dish soap. As long as you rinse them well, the gliders won't mind at all.

The thing i hate about these and chinchilla owners is they need such a diffrent type of care and attention then say a hamster or mouse, and no one really seems to care. But you are the exception. Me and my chinchilla salute you and your efforts in caring for such precious creatures.
Chinchillas need to be kept in pairs so you should really get a friend to your little one.
Hamsters and mice care (although they’re really different from each other) is quite complicated as well, let’s not generalize 🙈

I have known about these forever but I worked a convention a week ago and pocket pets was there and they explained more about them. I held one and now I am obsessed and also need one or twelve
B pocket Pets keeps those animals in horrible conditions. Please don't buy them from there, but from a licensed breeder.

Well until then you can save up so, when the time comes, you can purchase from an approved vendor. You can of course try to make them yourself, but in the long run it is cheaper and safer to buy the items from experienced people. The only reason I'm not is because I live in Europe and shipping costs are very high. If I had the option I would buy before I sew...would save me a lot of time and effort :-)
Also make sure you buy her a friend too, as they usually don't do well on their own for very long. All the best and happy bonding! :-)

I’ve been doing research and I really want 2 sugar gliders but I’m 15, and I know that In a few years I will be off to college and If I got sugar gliders I don’t know what I would do with them since so many colleges don’t allow pets. 😭
yeet maybe try to see if there’s any rescue near you that has a couple of elder gliders to rehome or maybe research about animals with shorter lifespans like a hamster, a male mouse or a couple of females, rats or gerbils
