- Howdy Guys!
Here is the next procedural modeling tip! In this video we cover the techniques needed to produce the curvature effect y we see in roads. Namely the placement of objects along the sides of roads at certain curvatures.
The assets used in the example are available to all Indie-Pixel Patrons.

Dude, That right there is a masterpiece.
You are so fluent in your knowledge in Houdini.
Well done mate, love it.
Thanks Kenny! I'll enjoy watching this
Super useful - many thanks!
Fantastic stuff as always! Though I think I would have simply crossed the tangent to get the away-facing normals. Cheers, Kenny!
Thanks Ricardo! Yeah, I guess I could cross the tangent...thanks!:)
way to go man
Would you also have a tutorial by any chance to find vertical curves?
This tutorial has been really handy for curvature, but it isn't working for vertical curves which is what i really need atm.
Whoa! do you have a tutorial on how to make the geographic cut away section that you displayed in the beginning of the video? I've been looking for something like this.
I dont, but I'll make one to show ya how I did it.:)
@@IndiePixel3D That would be so awesome thank you so much. :D
HoudiniKitchen does have a tutorial on exactly that with their Lines And Curves tut

@@Kantuva I created a race track course way before houdini kitchen released their curve tutorial. ua-cam.com/video/1XgJ1oHBCn0/v-deo.html
What was the Fuse node at 9:15 supposed to do? I do not see and changes to the points or prims after adding it
After H19 the wrangle node where we remove the prims does not work anymore. if you slide the slider any nr higher then 0 it just removes everything. Anything I did wrong or is it H19 specific? Edit: FIxed it, I bypassed the attribute promote and then it worked. Also works if you dont switch it to prims.
I had this issue in v20 and fixed it by unchecking the "Connect Path" in the Convert Line node.
Man, can I follow your content with the apprentice version? Seems I'm not able to get the engine with that one!
For any tutorial that doesnt include Hengine you can follow along with apprentice. For hengine stuff, it does require an indie license or higher.
@@IndiePixel3D ouch.... was also doing the bridge one! :(
@@JackiedFX yeah its unfortunate that side fx doesnt have a free apprentice version of hengine. You can still follow along with the bridge tutorial, just wont be able to put it into unreal.
houdini I have always said that it is the best 3D software, but I think that this obstacle of learning vex programming is very difficult ...
It seems that houidini do not think it for 3D artists, if not for NASA engineers!
first haha , ur the best thank you
