Some of you will never know that life was 1000 times better in the 90's
Agree. Music slowly turned to s*** in the nineties but everything else was terrific.
I miss the 90's for sure
90s the last great decade! kids nowadays have no idea how crazy it was
Meh - 80s we’re much better
@@TheBeaver50 Beg to differ. Lots of crime, political turmoil and Aids scare in the eighties.
man i miss vanassa warrick and headbangers ball i remember staying up til 2 am and have to get up at 6 on monday but that was when music televison was about music and great interviews
The good days, now it's all hip hop/r'n'b all over music TV, the people of today suck
@@alrockman9173 Deal the fvck with it and move on...
That and the Tommy Vance rock show.
i miss Vanessa Warrick and Headbangers ball as well best of times introduced to so many awesome bands
I don't know about you but Headbangers Ball used to be on Friday nights in the UK, at about 10.30pm, after Beavis and Butthead. Later followed by Into The Pit.
Highest level of Nostalgia in my book, I remember recording every episode of HBB to watch it again and again untill the VHS tapes were worn down...
What an awesome time to be alive brother 😜
most of people in this video are now in their 50's. Time flies so fast.
This video is a jewel for the metal world, reliving memories and for new generations to see and learn about one of the best times of heavy metal history. Thanks for this video🤟🔥🤟
That would be about 1984-85 when I saw Metallica , Megadeth, testament , Alice In Chains, fates warning , anthrax, slayer, all in bars on Long Island.
R.I.P. Reed Mullen. What a drummer!!
Brad Sparks fly on!!!!
FUCKIN RIGHTS!! I HAVE HATED MOST SO CALLED ROCK STARS BUT MEETING LORD REED WAS A FKN PLEASURE!!! PURE CLASS R.I.P. REED
Agreed, and RIP also to Pete McClanahan the bassist for Warrior Soul here.
Reed Mullin. R.I.P.
25 years ago today, one of my best days of my life. Great Line up, also my first gig at age 15.
I've been here and what a great time we had. It was a long drive from the Netherlands and we had problems with the French customs. They searched our car for half an hour and used also a drug dog but found nothing. We were allowed to continue driving, but they didn't return our passports. When we asked for our passports we got them back with some doubt. After this problem we have only had a great time and we can say that we have visited the sacred ground of Monsters Of Rock - Castle Donington.
This was my first gig at the age of 15! Still got the ticket stub! Absolutely blew my mind!
I saw them at RDS Simmenscourt Arena in Dublin 3 days earlier!
They supported Soundgarden would you believe.
Although they were awesome!
Better than Soundgarden that's for sure.
I was 16 at the time. Still got stub.
Amazing memories!!
Haha it was my first gig to and I was 15 to.
That's mental, It was my first gig and was 15 too
Machine Head, Slayer AND MetallicA, dude good on ya
@@lewishill4074 just remember walking into the site and seeing the stage in the distance and thinking “holy shit”! What a day!
I was at this gig with my friend Mark who sadly passed away a couple of years ago. He wasn’t a total metal and rock fan but appreciated it. I’ll never forget the look on his face during Slayers set. All bands were brilliant that day but Slayer….wow!
I'm sorry to hear of your friend's passing....RIP Mark
Sorry to hear that. Only laughing with my mate other day he raver brought him white zombie. Back in 90s he loved the atmosphere.. had to lend him snow combats an slayer tshirt so he looked the part 🤣
damn slayer must have been hard
@@sexorcismoJust unbelievable. Absolutely incredible.
I was a young 19 year old at this gig, I remember watching ‘most’ of the festival 😁🍺🍺🤘
I met Pepper some years later at the Metallica 30th and I told him how much I liked Deliverance. He responded by saying his whole goal with that album was to make something to impress Hetfield. Probably worked...he and Het are buds and collaborators to this day.
I got to party with them at Dimebag's house a few years ago after a COC show in Arlington. Pepper is such a nice dude. And funny. I have pics, but idk how to post them on UA-cam comments.
God I wish I had a time machine to go back
My first festival was Donington '94 and it was amazing, but this one is still hands down my favourite, 18 years old and fully in my vibe!! What a line up, EVERY BAND!! THANKS!!!
I was at this Monsters of Rock, all the top 90's bands, I lived the dream and will always be remembered as a highlight of my Life, Vanessa Warwick doing Headbangers Ball true Legend!
I was there.... 14 years old... PanterA and machine head changed my life
Did Pantera play at this festival?
crguti lol I was meant to put that I’d seen Pantera perform there the year before , but when went to the signing tents that year Dime and Vinnie were there just for a laugh and were hanging with corrosion of conformity, sorry for the confusion 😂, they did both in fact change me life, just 12 months apart 🤣, machine head were incredible though, the fact they were friends with Rancid just made them even more awesome!,
I still have the hangover after being at this show.
This is a fantastic find, here. I clearly remember seeing this at the time, along with the coverage MTV was doing with the reading festival , which was on the same weekend. Gotta love Slash's "You look Hot" line casually flung at Vanessa at the end of his interview. Brilliant. Love this- the full upload of the episode. Thank You.
Tnx for sharing. I remember I had the VHS recorded from the TV show back in the day. Old times are the good times!
Awesome stuff. Thanks You very much for the up!
This was my one n only monsters of rock and seeing this back is amazing.. Brings back some awesome memories
I was 12, my mum and her mates took me and some friends cause she was badass and I loved Metallica.
I fucking miss the 90’s
I remember going to this and the bus not getting there until Warrior Soul were almost done so I never did get to see Corrosion of Conformity, something that still pisses me off to this day.
Oh man. Warrior soul. Good memories.
This is amazing! Thanks for upload. I was there, it was an incredible show. Machine Head, Slayer and Metallica on same day.
I've been going to the #monstersofrock #donningtonpark #castledonnington since 1980 the very first one, what a weekend it was something to look forward to 🤘😎🤘
I would give anything to go back to 1995 knowing what I know now in my 18 year old body.
Thank you so much for the upload! Amazing! :-)
Thank you soo. much, great memories
Very awesome! I finally saw these records! Thanks
I met James and Jason that day , legendary legendaryness
War Ensemble is still pretty fearsome even today!! Holds up still.
Warrior Soul man!!! What a band!!!!
Super band
Anos 90 onde aconteciam os melhores festivais de Heavy Metal ! 🤘☠️🤘
Rip jeff hanneman and reed mullin 😔🤘
this is gold .. thank you
Thanks for sharing I was there aged 26.
Ah, those were the days !! Setting the video to record headbangers ball every Sunday & watching it monday evening.
Watching this is like stepping into a time machine. Back to a time when things weren't completely insane...
To be fair, they were just as insane as they are now. The only real difference is I was 10 so I didn't remember it as much.
Sean Yseult.....my teenage crush...!...
27 years ago ...lucky enough to be 22 years old and present at this special gig , sleeping in the back of a transit van BVH BirkenheadVanHire
no phones or internet , smoke and drink and music and bonfires / fireworks ..... sigh
X-Factor from Warrior soul deserves some love here. Didn't know him before, never saw him again...but he left it all on stage that day.
PLS MORE INTERVIEWS OF SLAYER 90S
Great times. It makes me very nostalgic.
I was at this show, when Machine Head came on it woke everyone up :)
I was lucky to be there in 96 . From Canada , had a amazing time. Would have been great to be there the year before to see this line up. \m/ Canada
Sebastian Bach is pure joy here…I’m diggin’ his vibe!! Top 10 hard rock/metal voices ever!!
I wish I went to this. I remember it being advertised but I was only 15 at the time. The following year I did get to see white zombie at Brixton Academy which was amazing.
Man, _that_ is a solid gold line up. C.O.C., Slayer, Therapy?, etc. You can't beat a 90s festival line up!
Edit: White Zombie and Machine Head as well. That's what I'm talking about. Some of those Donington bills were legendary. Good times.
Legendary until 1992, yes.
@@Topophobia No.
@@robashton8606 Perhaps. Not a fan of the direction metal took in the mid to late 90s. Therapy?, C.O.C., Machine Head - they're all ok. I was still listening to Manowar's "Triumph of Steel" at this point personally.
The first 3 years of download festival are pretty cool
@@Topophobia TOOL would be way more exciting around the same time than those 3 medium quality bands .
had this on vhs great times in my life i was 19 long hair how life was soo cool long livethe 90s xx
Pepper still looks and acts the same today as he did back then! Saw Down live and he was so cool during the meet and greet! Great dude!
Old school VHS best channel on UA-cam 👍
Man the 90s was so kick ass for music especially metal
For the younger, open minded and adventurous heavy music fans yes, for the older 70s and 80s metal fans, not so much.
@@Chaz4543 Weird coment, most of those bands were born un the 80's.
The 90s were the worst decade for rock and metal. all the shit is there
@@Chaz4543 Well said. Gimme Sabbath, Purple, Zep, Santana, Kansas, Journey (early) any day.
80s were much greater in my opinion.
Qué épocas!!
Robb Flynn givin' props to Wu Tang Clan
M.E.T.H.O.D. MAN
My first festival. What a day!!
Great channel that you have man.
Только заиграли Slayer, как я сразу забыл о всех,кто играли до них! Мощь, драйв и энергетика просто зашкаливает! Slayer лучшие!!!! P.s. Впервые увидел Керри лысого,но без бороды)).
I attended this event at Donnington in August 1995.
I remember seeing Machine Head, Slayer, Skid Row and Metallica.
I even remember that Metallica's closing song was the Anti Nowhere League song, So What
Loved going to Donnington way back then 👍
Wish I could be back there what a day and night it was amazing
I’ve still got that festival poster!
I think it came from Aardschok (Dutch hardrock and metal zine)
So do I. From metal hammer!
I was at this gig. I had seen Metallica previously and said "Next time I see Metallica I'm getting in the snakepit". So they were due to come on, Ecstasy of Gold was playing and we were at the front. The crush was getting too much so we moved to the side. I saw a bouncer letting people into the snakepit so I shouted "Can I get in?" and he motioned yes. I asked if my friends could come too and he said yes. We rocked so hard in the snakepit that gig. It was epic.
So many amazing bands in one weekend!
One day!
loved it when it was all in one day 🎸🎸🎸🎸 🎤 my first Donington
Many thanks for the upload, I was there, I just turned 25 a few days before, I took my 16 year old cousin with us, he fuckin loved it & we're both still metal heads, Slayer were my favourite on the day, RIP Jeff, great memories, again thanks for the content. Cheers
i didn't know Jeff died😮
I was there too..hard to believe its 25 years ago
As a young french at the time, this concert was a dream. Almost all my favourite bands. I had all the posters in my room (with hetfield and his horrible mulet). So Thanks for the upload (now I can see how shitty Corrosion of conformity was)...
Maudit français à marde 🤭🤣🤣😂😜
Snakepit were UNDERRATED
Close up of Sebs 'gentlemans area' was a real highlight.
My first festival and still the best this was fuckin real donington still got the ticket and t shirt 😃🍻🤘
I was there and it was a brilliant festival. Still have my festival tee from that day too.
💪💪💪 I love to watch these tapes.
one, if not the best, years of my life. 16 years old
Nice! Thx :)
Я аж прослезился. Хочу обратно!
This was my first gig in 1995 when I was 16! Me and my mates had an excellent day!
I was there! 12 year's old and wet behind rhe ears...i was there for slash And came home a fan of every band of the bill... except warrior soul ... what a line up!
Fuck me, I was 28 when I went to this one. Donington was always the same for us, the most amount of sleep you will ever lose in one weekend...
Best hair style James ever had.
Gold!
Só banda foda, que grande era foi os 90s!!
@MTV, please bring this back...
I never been a huge Metallica fan, but...OMG...their live shows are SPECTACULAR! Today with technology you can reach high levels of precision and you can accurately reproduce an album in a live shows format but back then it was a completely different story. HUGE RESPECT for Metallica. AMAZING Band! Same story with Slash...one of the few examples of a musician who can make excellent music outside his main band.
Long live this Old school VHS Channel🙏👏🤘🤘
I was in the snakepit and in the video right at the very beginning. Great times.
Interesting to watch the Skid Row portion. How quickly they went from knowing who they were to having an identity crisis.
i didn’t plan on going as I had tickets for the Reading Festival the next day. anyway I went down just before Metallica were due to start. About 30 other people had the same idea and all got in for free due to the security all being Scottish and the first person who asked was from Scotland. I quickly put on the accent and in we go. Right down the front amazing watching Them twice in two days.
God, take me back. Everything was infinitely better back then. I hate what the world and life has become.
What a day that was. My 6th visit to hallowed ground 🤘🤘
The best Time ever!!! Al my Heroes here , i miss It!!!! Vanessa Warwick and Headbangers Ball was absolut Top 🥇🏆😎
Someone made a comment saying life was 1000x better in the 90’s. That comment is true along with life being a 1,000,000x time better in the 80’s!
I was there! 🤘
Listening to Slayer play live after listening to these other bands makes you appreciate how awesome they were, they sound so much better live than any of these other bands.
Not better than Metallica but yes, very strong.
@@crelandod1770 Yeah Metallica were untouchable live in the 90s
I was there! Was an awesome day!!!
Great memories of this. Things that remain in my mind after all these years: the sky just filled with bottles of every liquid imaginable being thrown about. Everyone throwing lumps of sand/mud about. It actually started raining just as Slayer started playing Reign in Blood. I saw Metallica a couple of days before at the LA2 so had already heard the two 'new' songs from Load. Slash got a pretty hostile reception, that was kinda funny when I was 17 but now not so much. The only food I ate the whole day was a 'Donington death burger'. Still have my ticket and programme (remember them!).
Great 🤘
Was a god damn great time to be alive. I was 15 at the time and loving this. Metallica was and still is my religion.
Yeah I was the same age and Metallica were my heroes it was my first ever concert and I made it right at the front by the time they played ill never forget it
That was my last Monsters of Rock festival.
WONDERFUL!!!!!!!
