  • This #diy video shows how to #clean the #drain pump filter on a front-load washer.
Use promo code UA-cam to save 10% on searspartsdirect.com.
This video from Sears PartsDirect shows how to access and clean the drain pump filter on a front-load washer that doesn’t have an access door. The drain pump filter catches lint and debris from your washer’s drainage water, to prevent drain clogs. Clean the filter monthly, so the washer can drain well.
    Visit us at: www.searspartsdirect.com?sid=soc:youtube:cleaning-the-drain-pump-filter-on-a-front-load-washer
Or call 1-800-437-1673 to speak with a parts specialist.
    1. When the washer is empty, disconnect the power by unplugging the washer or by turning off the house circuit breaker.
    2. Remove the screws from the bottom of the toe panel. Pull the bottom away from the washer, slide the panel down and set it aside.
    3. Put a towel in front of the drain pump to collect drips.
    4. Turn the handle on the front of the filter cover counter-clockwise and then pull the filter.
    5. Remove debris from the filter and then rinse the filter clean.
    6. Remove the rubber seal and clean it. If the seal is damaged, replace it to prevent water leaks.
    7. Reinstall the rubber seal.
    8. Insert the filter into the housing. Make sure the positioning tab on the filter faces upward to align with the slot in the filter housing.
    9. Once the filter is properly seated, hand-tighten the cover by turning it clockwise.
    10. Reinstall the toe panel.

So thankful I watch your UA-cam on cleaning the filter. So much plane instructions easy to follow, thank you
I,m 74 years old, live in the country by myself, so to get someone out to fix the draining problem would probably not have happened.
So today your my hero and I found $8:80 and it drains great!

THANK YOU WAYNE!! After reading some of the comments, we were crossing our fingers that ours would ALSO be a quick fix -- and it was! Turns out that in addition to being disgusting, there were also a BUNCH of coins in the filter! Like "Larry H" our clothes were so damp, the washer was extending the spin cycle by 15 minutes. Thanks again, Wayne!!

Thank you! thank you! Thank you! My wife has been complaining about the washer for over a month. I asked her what error code was coming up, located this video, discovered pencils, money and funk clogging my washer filter.

Thank you for this video. I had already changed the drain hose and probably could have saved that money if I watched your video first. I even paid for a plumber to snake the house drain line. I was just about to give in and buy a new washer when the error came back, but i found your video first. It worked. Now I know where my wife's missing little socks went. You saved the day. Happy New Year.

Thanks for the video. I accessed the filter and found a king's ransom in coins and other assorted pocket junk. I took a picture to remind me about cleaning that filter periodically. Hopefully that was the only problem. Running a cycle now to be sure. Videos like this are great. In the last year I've used videos to fix my dryer and washer and probably saved $250 in service calls.

I did this today.....there should be a "warning before you do this, there will be a stench of death once you remove it" if you haven't done it in 5 years like myself. It smells like rotten eggs. It was really bad. Also I thought i was goign to puke with the debris I found. Nasty compacted gunk that was hair, lint, soap, and other nastiness.....That being said....his instructions were spot on!

Monthly? This was short and sweet. Old school my man. Not this modern lecture 25 minute stuff. Your audience contains old geezers like myself (73;-) yourself excluded of course. I have been down and out for years, alone so have dealt with it. It is what it is. God is good and I`m above the grass. Thankee kindlee. ps, years ago I maintained a great part of 175 townhomes for a living. Never had to do this as it would have been personal maintenance calls and such, and I was overwhelmed with work, as it was. Awseome video sir. I did in fact say to myself "self, I`ll bet the kick panel is hiding the clean out". Laffin in AZ. .

Awesome clip. perfect for a novice like me. I was getting F02 error, drain issues, AND the cycle was running extra long, as since it was so clogged, the system couldn't drain enough out for the rinse/spin cycles and the clothes were still damp at the end, making the cycle extend by almost 10 minutes each time, AND making the dryer work harder to compensate as well. Never would have tried on my own, but even I can do this

That was well done. I didn't know exactly where to find the washing machine pump. Now I will clean this monthly. The light went on during the spin and drain cycle. So I had too turn off washer and open the door. What a mess. Turned off power. And water. Took out wet laundry. Cupped out excess water that was in the drum canister. Then drained pump and mopped up the mess. All's well that ends well 😅

Our washer began draining very slowly and would stop, beep, and give error codes. I first thought, oh crap, is this washer kaput? Before finding this video, I took it upon myself to explore the machine, thinking the problem was water-pump/drain pump related. I took the bottom panel off and unscrewed the clean-out on the water pump. I mean, what appeared to be a clean out access point was sitting right there in my face, begging to be serviced! I unscrewed the access point (was hard to turn at first) and I found it clogged with all sorts of things - coins, paper clips, gunk, etc. Cleaned it up, put everything back together, and the machine worked like a champ!! This was the first time i've ever cleaned out that part of the machine. I don't recall my manual mentioning that kind of maintenance. Beyond that, the only maintenance I've done is to replace one of the electronic inlet water valves. I watched a you-tube video before tackling that one. I promised myself to service the clean-out on the water pump more often! Thanks for posting this and other videos!!

This is brilliant. There was more than $20 in change in the filter and backed up in the hose down to the filter. Add that to the cost of a new washing machine, and watching this video has really paid off for me. My wife suggests that maybe I should be more careful about checking the pockets when I do laundry, and you know what? That's a really fair criticism.

Great video - thank you! Anyone else having trouble with their filter removal? Seemed like there was almost zero effort required in the video when removing the filter, but mine was so tight that I thought I might break the handle, the housing PVC or both. It was flush when I started, but I can only get it back to about 1/2 turn of that without going nuts. I did clean out the black gunk that came out, but cleared the grooves the best I could, leaving only some discoloration. Any tips on loosening the filter turns while maintaining its seal?
