The 4wd is 44k. It's right on par with everything that's remotely similar, seeing as how the bronco is the only "competition" and is still significantly different. If you want it to come down in price go fire up Nissan and have them build the xterra for cheaper. Because that's about it, and its been discontinued for 10 years.
@@joshlamar1990 why would that be? The black SR5 looks really nice! I wish they would've kept the old SR5 wheels from previous generations. I feel like that was always a staple, kind of like the back window lol
I laugh at all the hater comments. Every manufacture is using turbos except for Nissan in the frontier and jeep in the gladiator. The bronco uses a turbo and the prices are the same. Heck, ford has been putting turbos in the f150 for over 10 years. Everyone wants to cry over prices- yeah they are higher, but everything is higher. I would say Toyota is on par with the rest of the brands. Reliability- this is not the turbos of the 80s and 90s. My truck is a turbo and it’s really fun to drive. People need to stop being close minded or just stick with your previous generation. But the average new car price in the US is 47k. That’s not a Toyota problem, that’s the reality of the world we live in.
I bought a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander late last year. I was the 2nd owner. It too has the 4 cylinder turbo engine. Coming from a 2019 Acura MDX you can feel the difference in power. The GH was loud and felt under powered. I imagine the same can be said about this 2025 Forerunner. Even the new Land Cruisers have 4 cylinder turbos! Needless to say, I traded the Toyota within a month for a 2024 Acura MDX and am much happier with my V6 engine.
Could’ve sworn that the SR5 didn’t have the option for heated seats on Toyota’s site so i was confused when all the models had it. Thanks for confirming!
I actually like the smaller infotainment screen a little better. Nothing wrong with a Sr5. I would like the trd off road myself just for the skid plates and Locker.
People complaining about the price are still in 2010 but yea it looks real good for 40k but we all know the dealerships are gonna put 10k markups on em.
I checked the Toyota SR5 Basic Edition document on the press release website. It states that the basic model comes with A-TRAC, but I don't see an on/off button on any of the models. Does it actually have A-TRAC?"
If you compare the sr5 and sr5 4wd in the trim comparison thing it lists it as "Part-time 4-Wheel Drive (4WD) with electronically controlled 2-speed transfer case (high/low range) and Active Traction Control (A-TRAC)" so I'd assume only on 4wd models.
Which is nice but I wish they had a standard heated steering wheel on the SR5 as well for Canada. All vehicles in Canada should have this. I’m sure it’s not that much of a cost for the manufacture
I think if you opt for no third row in the SR5, you should get more backseat legroom by pulling a lever underneath the seat which will give you an extra two or 3 inches.
great review but as a Toyota lover who owns several, I will not be buying Toyota vehicles anymore. Just too expensive. Consumers are not dumb, we struggle to make money everyday but yet these companies taking advantage of customer is not cool.
Meh. Not complaining about the price of the SR5, but I wish there was a "premium" trim that gives you at least auto softex seats and the auto hatch. Tack on 4WD and it has pretty much everything most 4R buyers need. Having to jump up 12k to the TRD Sport Premium is too big of an increase.
Thanks for the video Jon! I can’t wait to be able to explore this generation 4 Runner myself. It’s too bad they don’t have an SR5 premium. I feel like overall that is the best trim to get especially coming with blacked out TRD wheels, off-road tires (as an option), heated seats and steering wheel, plus the strap that Toyota decided to take off now…
Only in a pinch. Head out to supper, concert, sporting event and don't want to take 2 vehicles. Ours only gets used a couple of times per year, but it is convenient. Not ideal for long trips. In that case, minivan.
Just a thought here. 1st, 3rd and 5th generation the popular beloved generation. I call em the odd (number) gens. So the 2nd, 4th, and now 6th (even numbered) generation not the popular ones. So I’ll wait till the 7th gen.
@ I don't know where you get window tint but i got my whole car done for $300 for my honda. I do agree that its not really "affordable" but that's the lowest trim. I wouldn't get the step bars anyways.

I was just in the new tacoma and the interior had alot of hard plastic and looked really cheap. That big computer monitor slapped onto the dash just shows that there was no attention dedicated to the interior design. The powertrain is another joke with it's 4 cylinder turbo & crappy 8 speed transmission.
Hey Jon. What is your thought about buying 1st year of a redesign. In this case of course the motor has been around and is somewhat tested and proven. And the interior is from the taco. The platform has a few years on it as well. But still it’s a 1st year. Thoughts?
Also keep in mind that it’s still made in Japan so the quality control should be top-notch. I myself would not worry about buying a first year in this particular case.

That's a lot of money for a little plastic truck. Toyota had lost their mind. $43K plus dealers' mark up and the garbage that dealers added.
