  • 'Living In Pakistan Is Like...': Ambassador Ruchi Ghanashyam On The Gaurav Arya Podcast | Promo
Have you ever given thought to how it feels like living in Pakistan and that too, as an Indian Diplomat? Today, in Episode-11 of The Gaurav Arya Podcast, we have Ambassador Ruchi Ghanashyam, a woman who spent three years of her life in the capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad, during 1997-2000. Ruchi Ghanashyam joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1982. During her career of thirty-eight years, she worked in various capacities at the Ministry of External Affairs, the Government of India, including as director (Pakistan) and secretary (West). Outside India, she served in the Indian embassies in Damascus, Kathmandu, Brussels, and Islamabad, as well as the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, New York. She was India’s high commissioner to Ghana, South Africa, and the UK, where she retired in 2020. She has also written a book: An Indian Woman in Islamabad in which she writes about her eventful tenure in Pakistan. In conversation with Major Gaurav Arya (Retd.), Ambassador Ruchi Ghanashyam talks about her tenure in Pakistan, a tenure filled with events like the IC814 Hijacking, the 1999 Military coup in Pakistan, etc. Dealing with ISI agents, being under constant surveillance, and hunting for houses in Pakistan, she recalls it all. Pakistan is murdering history, says Ambassador Ruchi Ghanashyam on the question of education in Pakistan. Pakistani generals have a history of lavish living. Quoting this, Ruchi Ghanashyam says that the Indian Army has a sense of pride for the nation. Being India’s former high commissioner to the UK, she also gives her view on the Khalistan issue and Dr. S. Jaishankar's diplomacy. One of the best former Indian diplomats. Very grounded person. Had a good fortune to see her when she was posted in the UK last.

    If it's true...
Then why is it recommended to practice to become proficient in anything?
    I disagree with that proverb.

The claim that India won the 1962 war against China is wrong. Also, the story that Pakistan took part in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IOK) in October 1948 is not true. Similarly, the idea that Pakistani troops entered Kargil, beat Indian forces, and then left is false..... Although you are a 5 times bigger country India must have felt ashamed of how Pakistan was able to defend it in 1965.

I presume you are a Pakistani. It’s obvious from your ignorance . 1. Firstly nobody in India claims we won the war with china in 1962. Repeat not one person from 140 crores.
      2. Secondly 1948 Kashmir. It’s an irrefutable that maharaja of Kashmir Hari Singh signed the treaty and acceded to India. If Pakistani didn’t send first troops dressed as tribals and then regulars how is it that parts of Kashmir is in your possession.
      3. 1965 war. Please google and see who started the war.
      4. Kargil war 1999. There’s enough information in public domain how you sent your army into Kargil. And the tide turned and Pakistani troops started getting killed, PM Nawaz sheriff ran to bill clinton and begged him to intervene to save there army.
      5. This whole podcast is about wrong history being taught to you and you are the living proof of that misinformation.

Pakistan lost all wars to India. It is a fact. You cannot handle the truth.
