We always use our own ISRC's, not the distributors, it was free to register to do this, we just have to keep our own spreadsheet to track them. I just looked up, I can buy 25 UPC barcodes for $25, so now considering also using my own barcodes.
@@jfk8297 There are agencies in each country which specifically give UPC vs. ISRC codes...for a fee. For example in the US, Google this: "US ISRC" and "US UPC Codes". In the US, ISWC is administered free, by your PRO.
Things you've highlighted in this awesome video, have brought this question to mind: What if they're the hand that sabotages the artist? The origin point technically doesn't matter under these circumstances.
The fact that PreSonus just partnered with them is the absolute number one reason why I'm ditching Studio One as my music production software. Any company that willingly partners with a company like Tunecore doesn't deserve my business.
I think I have dodged a potential problem with this platform. I’ve signed up for a year in December ‘23, but, luckily, I haven’t uploaded any material. For some, reason, I didn’t and I am very glad that I haven’t! I’ll check more of your videos for the licensing deals. Thank you very much for this review. You’ve saved me a major headache there! J
So what is the end result for your case with Tunecore? I am here in Cambodia had the same issue with my client account (8 account) that on hold fun. Don't know what to do now, they just keep saying their internal team is review the case more than 3 month now. Do you have any recommended action?
I stopped using these types of companies. I hired an attorney to setup a label, created contracts between the label entity and myself as the artist, and negotiated favorable terms with a label services company for distribution. However, even with that in mind, regardless of which way to distribute (DSP or Label Services), it still feels like going into an Adult Toy Store and picking out the device that is going to hurt the least -- either way, I'm gonna get screwed in the end! :D
Money is coming for the artist. And who are they to define a real artist, because I’ve heard artists with talent that is not famous and better than a lot of famous artists. I have never judged a artist based off how many people know they exist. I base a artist off the craft of the artist
@@isaiahwade3041 Well, I can guarantee you that I can write better lyrics than the most of these so-called lyricists. And I'm not being egotistical about it.
@@TopMusicAttorney You are correct, producer/artist and have a studio, at Sound City, in Los Angeles. I had my own encounter with TC a couple years ago so I have some insight into the financial ideology behind what they are doing. Let me know if you would like to discuss it.
Hi, Miss Krystle, Im a huge fan of yours, and Im also an artist, so, my question is: Since this year started, I was thinking of a re brand, changing slightly the music genre of the music I uploaded, changing my artist name, etc. Therefore, I wanted to finish the contract with my distributor, which was BELIEVE (owners of TuneCore), since they take 30% of my royalties and they do virtually anything to promote my music. Today they did me the favor of cancelling my contract, and they told me that I must migrate my music to TuneCore other distributor before October, or they'll remove it. However, what I want is just for them to remove it right now, that would also be better for my re-branding. How can I do it the best way possible?
Okay... serious question... so after that last blue section what's to stop them from trumping up a bunch of unsubstantiated accusations for improper conduct for every single user that they suspect can't afford to hire an attorney based on sales, seize the royalties, and transfer them to the CEO's personal account when he's ready to retire? They've signed away their ability to join a class action lawsuit, and if they are correct in their assessment of who can and can't afford a lawyer few people will take them to court... then if they did they've capped their liability at $100.
Excellent run down and expose' on Tunecore's real motivations🤘 It's artist last, them and everyone else first. They'll ride this into the dirt and all the way to hell before they do right or adjust in any way.

It means, never promote any music you publish on streaming platforms, but also only publish a tiny fraction of your music, only to potentially attract streaming users to exclusive content. Only promote for digital or physical releases, exclusive content. It seems all these middle men related to streaming are there to steal the fruit of artists' hard work. Their terms of use should be more about how they protect artists' rights and due $, not how they plan on ripping off artists.
