Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in this world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

@safsa awe imo the justification walt was just ‘doing what he had to do’ was shot dead for good along with mike in 5x07
he killed mike because mike wounded his ego and nothing else
and even then walt did deplorable shit way before
      letting jane die
      not letting skyler leave him
not leaving the business when it was clear his family was in danger after 3x02 (i could have that wrong but its when the bald cousins try to kill walt in the shower)
and not to mention the absolute living hell he put jesse through

I love many of the minor characters in Breaking Bad, and the backstories you can imagine for them. Here are my ideas of a backstory for this character (which I have posted elsewhere):
--He's from somewhere in the midwest, judging from his accent (perhaps rural Illinois or Iowa). He's either divorced or a widower.
--He's former military, possibly military intelligence, which helped him learn his current trade.
--He lives a very quiet, non-eccentric life, which is part of his cover. He plays cards at the veterans hall with his old service buddies every Saturday, he has children and grandchildren who visit him on the holidays, and so on. The vacuum store is primarily a cover, but does function as an actual store as well, as we see in El Camino. (Of course, friends, family, and customers all know nothing about his real job.)
--He's taken a few jobs that are more idealistic, helping out lovers who have been disowned by their families, and women escaping abusive partners. More often, his customers are on the wrong side of the law, or of other criminals. He'll provide his services to any client without judgement, as long as they have the money and don't do anything to put him in danger of discovery.

He did mention he was taking a serious risk just going back and forth between NM and NH to get Walt basic supplies for living because the feds were constantly canvassing the neighborhood and watching the White family.

I think we would wait years and years after Walt’s death and leave Skyler a small envelope once in a while but nothing big enough to raise alarm bells for the feds but he would keep the remaining barrel worth as he can’t get the money to them

"If I said yes, would you believe me?" such a good line and really shows Ed's professionalism. Any other person would say yes because that is what Walt wants to hear, but Ed knows this and gives him a reality check, Walt is his client, not his best friend. I honestly don't know personally if Ed would have taken the money for himself or given it to his family, but I think the overall message is that you can't trust anyone in the criminal world and you have to get stuff done yourself.

I love this show but I never understood how he drove Walt from New Mexico to new hemisphere in a small fuel tanker. Like you know how many weight stations he would pass and being a small fuel tanker which is hazmat he would have to pull in. The trip with jesse up to Alaska is more believable but always wondered how he did the Walt trip. I do understand it’s a tv show and it’s fake but yea. If anyone can explain or share there theories.

I mean, it was probably bad writing but you could also build false compartment into a fuel tank that was filled. It would have been easier to not use a hazmat vehicle. You also have to fill out driving logs, not drive more than 8 hours a day, and it would be another difficulty to falsify what the end destination was instead of a small cabin in NH.

    • @leonardnose5695

@@MtD021 8 hrs then 30 min break, after you can drive for another 3 hrs to make it a full 11 hr shift. A 10 hr break is required and you have three hrs to load/unload. As for building a false space in there and filling it up, that would be a risk to walt. Seeing as he already has a coughing problem. But yea definitely bad writing on the writers part. The jesse part was more believable but still would be crossing canada to get to Alaska and im pretty sure border patrol would have been giving that uhaul a deep check inside and out.

People here in the comments saying Ed is implying he wouldn't give his family the money. But the important part you're missing is that right after Ed says "If I said yes would you believe me?", he asks Walt if he wants to cut the cards, and Walt says "no".
In cards, cutting the deck is meant to ensure the shuffler can't pull any funny business. So Walt declining to cut the cards is a gesture of his trust in Ed. Whether or not Ed actually would, Walt is basically saying that he _does_ trust him to do it.
