Dan is and always will be my favorite hunter i’ve ever watched. Such a funny humble dude. Learned a lot from this guy.
I started watching Dan in 2017, at that point my largest buck was a 2yr old 6pt, didn't have any brow tines. Since I started studying his videos I now have 3 pope and young bucks over 130" and a decent 8pt. His knowledge is the difference between luck and skill
When I’m walking that far in to hunt, I pack an extra dry shirt then change when I get to my spot, keep pushing !

Our deer season ended on January 1st here in Indiana. I hunted my target buck until the very end. Shot him right at dark on December 31. Left a family Christmas get together at my parents to try for him yet another time. Anyhow, arrowed him at dark a bit far back. Recovered him on the last day of season at 2pm. Hunted for him until the bitter end. Don't ever give up on something you really want

Always nice to hunt along with you. The paper is so the slices of cheese don't stick together. Another hunting season comes to a close. My brother calls it deerpression.
My crew gets on me all the time because they say I act like you and in some ways, I have that old "Gruffy" hunter look!! Haha.....I take it as a compliment!!!??? as usual I pick up a "Best Kept Secret" from your videos. That's right.....watch that noise on the way in the tree.

Our season here in Kentucky ended January 16th and I've been depressed ever since lol
I have been doing some scouting and getting ready to start shed hunting here pretty soon.
Who am I kidding I never turn it off.
I'm either scouting, hunting or getting ready to hunt , if I'm not doing one of those three I'm thinking about it.

I like the point you made about seeing tracks in the snow.I live here In Southern Iowa and we shotgun hunt several pieces of private land.We were headed to a different spot when I had noticed some pretty recent tracks in the snow that was in the ditch headed onto property I could hunt.We set up a small push and got one out of a real little patch.If I had not seen the tracks I probably would have overlooked that spot.

Really tough hunting when you consider that most bucks have already dropped their antlers. However, thanks for videotaping all your hunts. I have missed very few of them since you began your channel. Those bucks are in real trouble this coming fall.
It gets brutal in late season but field edges works good for me at that time of year I feel like I'm bumping the deer out if I go in deep . But finding the right feeding field can be difficult too. It was good to see another video. And them roosters were beautiful.
Support from Southern Indiana. Pheasants are one of the first things I ever hunted with my single shot 4/10 and I got super fast and could get two birds if the chance was there. I loved it but it was when I moved from indiana to Iowa for four years and came back home when I was 12 and haven’t got to hunt them since and I am 43 yesterday. I love and have passion for whitetail but pheasant was probably the funnest which I’m sure it was because of the age and one of the first thing hunting where I got to go out with dad and his buddies.

Cat Camo Calico on a scratching post might work. Keep pushing deeper when you spot a purple balloon might be a transitioning buck zone. I hate it when the buzzrrrr sounds -- older I get the louder the buzzed needs to be. Fun stuff Dan-- beard getting a Little frosty there. Must be all the time you're spending with Josh--kids! ATB

No matter what you had a good season. The knowledge you gained from this year will allow you to Better your odds. So are you going to grid search the area’s you hit them bucks at.? Maybe get closure on them.

i find it so difficult to put in a whole day of work knowing I'm hunting in the evening. Generally i just disappear into a mysterious mist. people are like "what happened to Ryan?" im gone hunting.... like it or not. and im not using any personal time.

Some do, some dont... What I have noticed is that a lot of deer migrate out of the swamp in winter. But some do stay year round.

DVD series, workshops, youtube.... UA-cam is nice cause its free. But the DVDs are faster, condensed, and to the point.

Just curious why can the county’s in the southern part of Wisconsin hunt all of January when like marathon ends the first Sunday in January?
I think the DNR thinks there’s too many deer in those counties. Usually on private land. Public areas get lots of pressure
So in this situation you have gotten a pic of a buck at a certain time frame of the season? And your scouting it now to plan the hunt for next season??
I have pictures of it from throught the season... Just finally got him back on cam giving me confidence he is still alive. A lot of my biggest bucks were shot because of in season or just after season scouting the year before. It has worked out real well for me in the past.

You should probably seek out videos that have titles like "10 kills in 10 minutes" This site is not all about the kill, its about growing and learning. There are hundreds of kill channels you can go to for that...
@@thehuntingbeast all I'm saying is this isn't worthy of an hr long video, IDC about the kill, I care about valuable content. An hour of you walking to your stand and saying, "they bed there and come out there." And then post a clickbaity title, "right to the bitter end", with a nice buck in the thumbnail. You could've cut this down to 20 min highlighting the last hunts (big rubs, fresh sign, and deer encounters) learn to edit... and leave this comment up also to show that you can engage in discourse

Seems like the Beast channels have plenty of short form stuff. I get a lot out of these long form videos and would hate to see them stop because of excessive criticism, but ce la vie.
