Great video. I can really see many of the same basic design elements. And up til the 70s, we also used a round rim cylinder. Before we got the oval holder.
Thanks Rune. Yeah, the oval never became a thing for any rim fitted applications down under. The standard rim cylinder has always remained as the norm since probably the 60s through to this day. It's saving grace is the multitude of restrictive and restricted profiles that can be implemented in the rim:-)
Great video Paul! Keep them coming, glad it was you disassembling that dead latch and not me,I would give a new meaning to the name "DEAD" Latch mate! Cheers!
You need to spread the clip to release the tail bar. Then replace the new tail bar in and squeeze the ends of the clip to secure the tail bar. You could try rotating the clip 90 degrees to remove the old tail bar. The clips are fairly flexible so it can work. After you have replaced the tail bar then just rotate back 90 degrees and squeeze. The clip has a nipple on one side of the clip. That's what keeps the clip from not rotating once the ends are squeezed. Good luck with it. Cheers:-)
Hi Paul, what lubricnt do you recommend for the internals of a lockwood 001 deadlatch. WD40, graphite or something else. The Tongue mechanism is sticking, appears to have gunk between the components, so the tongue meehanism drags and sticks
How are you mate. Unfortunately the parts are obsolete and no longer supplied. You could try a salvage yard for an old 001 and use the case screw from it. I am not sure if you are prepared to wait but i would have a few floating around collecting dust. You're quite welcome to them if you want me to send a few your way. Let me know either way what you want to do. The other option of course is to bite the bullet and replace with a current model 001 or a whitco deadlatch which shares the same footprint as the new 001. Goodluck and have a good one:-)
@crankylock7844 thanks for the offer, very kind, might take you up on it. I'm struggling to put my 001 case back on without the lock jamming. I'll post a video. If you could have a look, I'd appreciate it
How are ya mate. Yeah, the footprint is pretty close to the older version 001s. Should be an easy conversion for you. The other option is the Whitco deadlatch. It is pretty much a clone of the 001. They are somewhat cheaper and function the same. Has the safety release upon entry. The only difference is the Whitco deadlatch doesn't have the red/green indicator on the inner hub. Whitco is part of the Assa Abloy Group so they are pretty much clones. Goodluck with it. You should be fine. Just take your time and job should be a breeze:-)
I hope this helps. Your enquiry is talked about at the later end of the video. The first part is only relative to another question posed. Cheers.ua-cam.com/video/87jVTDpk7js/v-deo.html
My deadlock keeps flicking back to lock when I turn the inside latch to open lock, it doesn’t stay open. What is the problem with it? Is the lever inside worn that it doesn’t stay in place when turned to open?
Hi Gabby. I am assuming that the older 001 in the video is the one you have? It's hard to say without looking at it. There could be several causes. It will be easier to point those out on video. I'll post a video for you in the next day or two and give you some possible solutions. It's easier that way. I'll leave another comment to you when i have posted. Have a good one:-)
@@qohelethchia How are you. I will link a video to your comment tomorrow with the possible causes. Might be easier that way than trying to explain via a comment. Not sure what happened with the link to Gabby's original question. Check your notifications tomorrow. Cheers:-)

Thanks for the video. Where can I get spare parts for this old lock? I'm missing one case screw.
