The Harry Potter books went into so much more detail than the movies. I still love the movies and have watched them all multiple times. But the books gives you so much more back story on the characters.

With the book, you can mentally cast anyone to play any character, making it a better experience. Sometimes, the actor in the movie makes the character look bad, making the movie seem horrible.
