My 19 year old daughter who didn't know the franchise loved it. We watched the 1986 movie half an hour before arriving at the cinema. Have seen it twice. My wife who can't stand to leave the house to go to the movies went for the figure of Tom Cruise and loved it too. Top Gun: Maverick" proved that cinema doesn't have to be aimed at a single audience, it doesn't belong to a single "tribe". Teens, adults and seniors can enjoy the same experience, without needing a manual. It's been a while since I've seen so many people of different ages at the theater watching the same movie, I believe since the 90s maybe. Top Gun Maverick: the movie that saved the experience of going to the movie theater.

For real though I hope that Mav got help for his PTSD as well as Rooster (him lashing out at Hangman and Maverick is a sign that Rooster has PTSD as well)

Been obsessed with this version all day. Can’t get it out my head. Haven’t seen the film yet but after this, it’s top of my list

I’ve seen it twice. Took my Papa to see it for Father’s Day since I grew up watching the original with him. Seriously…. Go see it. Find a DFX theater if you can. Recline back and prepare to be immersed in an amazing movie that makes you feel like you’re in the jets with them. All the nostalgia and all the emotions. I WILL be buying this one when it comes out… no questions asked.

@@ChelyAmour Actually yes. While this bar was made as a set, it was based off the I Bar on Naval Air Station, North Island. The actual bar was too small for filming, but some of the steins are from the actual I Bar I think. Features the same hanging airplanes and bell too.

For those who were teenagers in the 80s (like me), we were young when Star Wars, Rocky, Terminator, Karate Kid, Top Gun - I will even add Mighty Ducks and Jurassic Park (early 90s) were first released. I am sure those movies and certain iconic scenes/quotes stayed with us over the decades. And to watch current re-incarnations of these films with my kids is something special. I get to share with them my own childhood of watching these movies when I was a kid, how it felt, what I remembered and how it connects with its modern counterparts.

I’ll rewatch the mighty ducks every now and a while just cause that’s what got me into hockey, still so many memories of those movies.

So great to see the complete footage and not just what is shown in the movie. Miles Teller nails it ... a multi-talented man who can make just getting out of a truck look sexy. Perfectly cast as Rooster..
