Back story (from what I remember): Addison, the red head and a gyno, learns that this patient has had several babies but always ends up losing them because she’s an addict. The patient comes in pretending to be different and clean and wanting to keep her baby. Addison hears of her past and wants to believe that the patient is ready to be a mom now, but her co workers tell her she’s wrong and it’s only a matter of time. So that’s why Addison comes in with money, but is sad when the patient takes the money-she was hoping that the patient really had changed.

@@swarm_of_bees_in_a_trenchcoatDon't have a baby if you're not able to take care of her/him. Giving birth to a baby doesn't make you a mother. People like this addict don't deserve to have babies and the baby doesn't deserve being put at risk.

I mean, at least she didn't kill her baby out of inconvenience!
At least she had the baby and gave up rights!
I don't see ANYTHING wrong with that!
What happened to My Body, My Choice?
If she is an addict and she's not ready to get clean yet, you won't be able to FORCE her to do anything.
Sure, you can force hero fo to rehab but what fo you think she's gonna do when she leaves? And it's obvious you've never been through opioid withdrawals because that's worse than the worst torture you could put someone through.
Our government has outlawed torture techniques such as waterboarding and electrical shock... but opioid withdrawal is considered "treatment"???
One day, future generations are going to look back and see you people as cruel and cold.
Either she will get treatment on her own one day... or she won't.
      But that's her choice.
      It's not anyone else's.
And now the baby gets to have her life, mama gets to have her life, and everyone gets to make the choice of what to do with their own lives.
      It's a win/win, happy ending. ❤

I was born premiere, and my mom had me and left did not come back. The hospital called my grandmother and said she's ready to go home, and she's been ready for 3 days. There's a well of lady ready to adopt her. My grandmother said, "Let me get ahold of my daughter. My mom didn't want me. My grandmother didn't want me. But my grandpa told her if she didn't go and get me, he would leave her. So she did come get me and took me to my mother. My mother put me in a room with no windows on a pissy mattress and left. Her gay roommate came home to find me and called my grandpa to tell him he had no idea how long I was there, but he didn't want to be responsible for me. My Grandaddy came and got me and took care of me. He was the best man. But I can't help but think of that well-off woman who wanted me. What my life may have been. Im still so thankful to my Grandaddy for raising me. He was the only one who really loved me and didn't want anything from me.

Or the parent who does the bare minimum and resents you and any resources spent on you as the child. And we should all know that as bad as those two situations are it could be way worse on many levels. That shit really happens in the real world to real kids.

I had a non-blood related cousin sell her baby because she thought it was going to come out as a Hispanic baby and the guys she ‘hung out with’ were all black. The man at the time she was with was part of a gang and we quoted her saying: “I didn’t want to cause a gang war by having a (insert slur here I won’t use for a Hispanic person) baby.”
She sold the baby for $500 and used the money to buy drugs.
Baby wasn’t Hispanic, but wasn’t black either. When she realized the baby wasn’t Hispanic (she didn’t really look at the baby after she had it), she tried to swap the drugs for the baby.
The woman who ‘bought’ the baby told her to “get bent” and was legally tryin to get full rights to the baby by the state- wether the baby was sold or not, it was abandoned and unwanted by its birth mother. And my non-cousin knew this woman wanted a baby and was having fertility problems. That’s why she sold the baby to her. The other woman didn’t know about the true reasons.
I believe the woman got full custody because the baby was born going through withdrawals.
As for my non-cousin, everyone in the family abandoned her for what she did. Only her father (my uncle by marriage) tried talking with her.
      Karma.

Addison adopted a baby boy. The baby's biological maternal grandmother wanted her daughter to get the baby back; however, the daughter was fine with Addison adopting her son. Addison sent the biological updates about the boy and offered her to be apart of the boy's life. Addison gave her a locket with a picture of the baby to have. Biological mother accepted updates but wasn't sure about any more involvement beyond that. She chose Addison to adopt her son when he was born. She considers Addison his mom now. This is ❤ in action.

One of my dearest friends came to have his son in a very similar situation. He was friends with an addict who’d had five children removed and put into foster care. She got pregnant again and the baby was born addicted to Heroin. My friend was a sponsor through a local halfway house and was giving her a place to live and a job, basically a new start and she came right out and said she didn’t want to be clean. She didn’t want the “kid” and she didn’t want anyone controlling her life or choices.
So, she put him down on the birth certificate and signed off all parental rights, forever.
It was the best thing that could ever have happened to that little baby. He’s now 15 years old and was raised by a loving family, in a home where he was wanted and is cherished.
Sometimes things just happen for all the right reasons. ❤

She would leave him in a dirty diaper for hours while she watched tv or talked to guys on the phone. She didn't like the responsibility, tuned out his crying by turning up the TV or putting on headphones. She dropped out of HS & got married but marriage turned out to be different thank what she thought ( I guess she thought bonbons on the couch He worked did all of the household chores as well as took care of the baby. He didn't even care when she went out with "friends" but was really hooking up with other guys. She signed away her parental rights, took her 1K & only tried calling once or twice over a year later to try to get more money but the paperwork she signed was all in order & legal. Eventually she just faded away.

That was actually the best thing for her to not see the baby. A lot of women are pushed to see their baby amd in the short long run it goes terrible. Then everyone around is wondering why terrible things happen and the woman is like “ I didn’t even want this baby but you made me take it home.”💯💔💯

😢😢😢😢 that’s heartbreaking the baby is right next to her. Unfortunately bonds do not come easy even if your the biological parent. Somethings are just more important to some people.
I find peace in knowing she will be raised in loving home hopefully ❤
We actually need to make it easier for people to give up their children so they do not kill their babies or abuse them or more so they might not want to give up their children but need them to be safe from whoever they are with.

You know only an addict would be this cruel as well as stupid. A baby is worth like $50,000+ with any private adoption. Goddamn.

A miracle for one person, can be a nightmare scenario for another.
Not looking is usually self-protection. And money, while considered vulgar here, is a practical solution to many ills for the poor.
Most surrogates get money for their pregnancies, and many of those babies use the surrogate's eggs.
This scene feels cold, but it's supposed to. It's told from the other person's perspective, but the bio mom's. We simply don't know her inner thoughts, doubts, struggles, fears, and regrets.
What we DO know is that baby will have a chance at a much more privileged life, and that's all this young girl can give to her

Ive had 6 babies. 2 of which had to go to the nicu after being born. I never left their side. I stayed in the nicu for over a month with my babies and didnt even shower that whole month bc i couldnt leave them to go home for just an hour. I wouldnt leave them. I couldnt imagine them crying or being scared. I was the only mother who stayed out of 30 babies in the nicu. I would hear babies crying and no one there to comfort them bc the nurses had to work. I couldnt leave at all. I left when my babies did.

Addiction is so all consuming 💔 it really alters priorities. And the humans who are able to get free from it are stuck with guilt. But the failure is all of societies not personal.
