NAVIEN COMBI BOILER CIRCULATOR PUMP REPLACED - Навчання та стиль
been replacing parts in my Navien ch-240 since i bought this house not 6months without something going wrong. i need to get rid of this thing asap. seems like i found the cause for the change in sound... great.
proper install is key. I have learned the hard way. Now we gold. Use them all the time.
You too huh? I'm in the same boat
@@BushidoBrownSama yup ended up replacing it with a brand people support in my area and it will be maintained.
CB 1 Still "Undefeated". Good job Chuck. I enjoy the the way you worked through that puzzle called a Navien.
Oh snap. Im going for gold now. lol
You're a better man then me Chuck, I still want no parts of tankless. Nice Job, and I learnt some things from this video as well.
not so easy but nice when it runs properly. 👍
Thanks for video Chuck. Cool watching the high tech stuff. Gas off reminds me of the kid next door. When I say kid I mean 30 yr old. Known him since he was a toddler. Still lives with mom but that's a good thing since she needs help. He bought all new components to build a computer. High tech one with top of the line components. I had got called into work late at night for no heat. Got home about 2 am and he see's me when he's out smoking. Ask's if later I could look, computer he built not working. I said, lets look now. I go through and check everything and looks correct. No power. He didn't plug into strip just into back of pc. Fires up! He turned bright red, lol. He needed help getting windows installed so I got it going for him. Had to change security setting in bios to get it running. I still tease him when ever I see him. Hey! Let me know if you need help plugging in anything, lol.
oh the simple mistake are great when you finally figure them out.
@@ChuckBarron had to hire someone for that part that was over my head. Thank you
Great videos In another persons video they said the clip in the circulation pump is to be put in far enough to just hold the o-ring before pump installation and you hold forward pressure on the clip until the pump is seated then push the clip in. The guy in the video said the Koreans said it was the only way to do it with no damage to o-ring.
A job for sure.
Nice repair chucky
thanks alex.
Cb thanks for the tips
Thank you.
That Navien sounds like the Space shuttle taking off.
its nasa like for sure.
On the 007 and grundfos i sometimes pull the motor and impeller out of the new pump and put it in the old volute when in a tight spot. Not sure if the navien pump is the same but i would bet it is. If you still have it try it with the old pump and see Thanks keep the videos coming!
funny part is i unscrewed brass screw expecting bang on shaft and maybe give her a jump start and the water shot across room like a water pistol. Im like ok that is changed since i last tried that move. true story.
Hey chuck what is the difference between the various versions of this pump?
I have a kdp-ct1w0725b in mine but I see kdp-ct1w0725t is available
When you re- install the recirc pump is there an "O" ring on the tube you fit the backside of the pump into? Or is it on the pump beneath the stainless slide clip?
Nice vid.
Thanks RJ.
Damn I hate these wall mount boilers thanks for the info!
They the future for sure.
I love the Navien tankless heaters. I think they are so much better put together than rinnai
I like them too. I have a rinnai in my house and thats been golden too.
@@ChuckBarron actually I spoke with a rinnai rep about 2 months ago and their product has really stepped up alot better than what it used to be as far as the parts and their warranty
awesome. I have had mine for 5 years. humming right along.
I have been looking at the new Navien NFC Combi for my place and swapping over from a 2 hot water heater system. I like the compactness and “supposed” energy savings but they seem way more finicky, temperamental and costlier to own than my tank heaters that lasted 13 years straight with no fussing around. Makes me wonder what the big attraction is to these combi units
space saving and energy saving for sure. I love em. Keep shopping these type of units{all brands} are coming on strong especially saving gas aspect.
@@ChuckBarron I'm having a hell of a time finding a plumber that knows how to work with them.
Where ya located at? I generally call tech support. I do need to take their class. Its coming for sure.
@@ChuckBarron I'm just south of Edmonton Alberta. I actually got a hold of a guy and he's downstairs throwing in the NCB-240E right now. I really wanted the new NFC Combi but they said my home was too small for it and it would short cycle too much and wear out the unit. I've heard nothing but bad things about the 3 way valves on the NCB's so I had hoped to try that new model out..... but had to settle a bit. Sounds like Navien will be coming out with a new revised 3 way valve for these units next year sometime. The rep I spoke with told me they were aware of the problem.
@@beri232 Welcome to a world of pain. Keep lots of vinegar, a bucket, and a small circ pump ready when your hot water starts cutting out. I've had two of the 240s and I hate/love them both, mostly hate.
Navien has a great name, but they seem to be very temperamental,I have 4 of them in a house I built a couple of years ago, every winter it seems to haunt me lol with a stupid call.this year we had to replace the pump for the first floor which is radiant heat
How was the wrestling match?
Where do you wire the secondary pump on a single zone system
switching relay.
How do you purge the air out of the exchangers coil?
a lesson for another day. its all set for that.
Can't you just change the head like we do on the Grundfos pumps here in the UK
I don't think so. This pump come as a unit just as I showed unboxed. I did not ask questions either.
I always left truck keys at valves or breakers when servicing something . It's easy to forget to turns something back on and look like an idiot. But when you leave the keys your truck isn't going anywhere until you turn valve or breakers back on.
lol. I would forget both and have to call in help to find them.
Chuck do you ever run a outdoor sensor on your Navien units
I do sometimes. How bout you?
@@ChuckBarron mines came with one do I need to install it and where does it plug into
I need a new boiler on a very old house and the more I see with these new boilers the less it is for me
Alright Now...
Yes Yes...How is school going?
@@ChuckBarron Chapter 3 Methods of Joining Pipe, We have started Math Chapter 1 and Welding.
Do navien recommend any sort of water treatment/inhibitor for their boilers?
Im sure they do. all sorts of extra's you can purchase for special situations. I really need to go to their classes. Thats on my to do list.
Yes, they recommend your water be near-perfect... and they're right, these things start throwing codes after about three years if you have any debris like this system in the video does.
Trying to save the customer money by leaving the gas off? You need the hands of a surgeon to work on that thing.
Oh no...no heat..ok lets turn on the gas. lol
Average How much would it cost ?
couple days work for surel
Pumps are about $200 wholesale (Boston Heating Supply), and takes about two hours to change. I just did mine; it lasted 6 years. Crap system unless you're running perfect water (which we should, but hardly anyone does).
@@ChuckBarron I sincerely hope you're being sarcastic.
Hey Chuck, thanks for the informative video. I was wondering if you could help me diagnose the pump noise I'm getting from my Navien NCB180, as shown in the video link here. ua-cam.com/video/wRDqcZN3Gvc/v-deo.html
I'm in an area where we don't have any Navien pros and I've ended up doing a lot of work on this boiler myself, but I'm hoping there's some fix other than replacing the circulation pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Work on your voice volume. It sounds like you're mumbling
