Love my Shimano talica reels. I have the talica 50 2 speed, 25 2 speed, 20 2 speed, and 2 talica 16 2 speed. They are awesome reels and so smooth!!!

I just picked up one of these in the store this past weekend and got to say wow! Nice reel! Smooth and strong. When comparing this to the TLD's, it is small so not sure what you are trying to compare it to. It is not a bass reel for lake! lol.
I am looking for a great lighter reel that I can grouper fish with in let's say 100' to 200' depth and not get worn out from a heavy reel. Everyone is saying that the Avet's bind up when under too much pressure. The only downside I see in this reel is the price, but it feels like a swiss watch!
I think the base riveted on is not ever going to come loose. Likely is stronger than screws that can back out over time. The brass will not be an issue. I have reels with brass and have never worn them out.
All in all, in comparison this reel is a good size/weight for the type of fishing I would like to use it for, just unfortunately too expensive, so looking now at the Penn Torque's for 1/2 the price. If I can find one in stock, I want to see what it feels like in comparison and will make my decision.

Hi there, my name is Abdul from Cape Town South Africa, tell me can the brass gears on Shimano Talica be replaced with stainless ones, like an upgrade for example?

@@abdulazizkazee6976 why is everyone so worried about this, when the hell do you hear of gears failing in a reel!?!? Have you ever heard of a Talicas gears breaking? They have Caught tons of 200lb tuna already and worked perfectly fine doing it. And it is still smooother than everything else. So shut up and fish.

I love shimano but my god are they overpriced. I got the lx raptor mc and I love it and it didn’t cost me $600

Shimano Sucks! Brass Gears to Make it Smooth Out of the Box...Won’t last long.

he is making such a big deal out of this.. the brass gears don't lack in strength, just makes the reel smoother, won't wear out because it's still very solid metal. Go buy some brass and see how strong it is.
      Disclaimer:
Not a Talica guy, I'll take a Penn Torque any day.
