good question! strongest chord in this one is Am, the key is not perfectly Aminor due to the D major and I won't pretend to know enough about theory here haha but a very simple approach to figuring out what scale to use is going by the first chord in the progression and this always resolves back to Am so Am pentatonic or blues works well with the D and C providing a bit of movement behind it. Hope that helps!
I have seen mad season live in new York. I was a drug smuggling at the time. High on everything. I was arrested 3 days after that show for assalt. The night before i got arrested, my girlfriend put a live lobster in my robe while i slept. Stitches were involved. Just a regular guy now. Night. I was there dude. He probably got my heroine.
My former cover band often used to open gigs with this one. I just love both playing and singing it!

Why does the Am pentatonic work over the G key progression. Shouldn’t it be the ‘Em pentatonic as it’s the relative minor?
