Seeing this guy play was the scariest musical experience of my life. I can't really think of a more complete improvising pianist since Mehldau. His musical voice is so heart breakingly unique. His technique is just about as good as you get, and his rhythmic and melodic concepts are astonishing. Truly a once in a generation musician.
Absolutely, also for that freedom comes a lot of knowledge and study. His choices and expressions are incredibly fluid but the result of a lot of understanding, focus, learning and reflection.
This is one of the most impressive solo performances I have heard/seen ever, ever, ever. This is galaxy brain stuff. Heavenly. Almost impossible. I consider him in the Top 5 among pianists alive today.
"The artist lives in a dreamlike inner world which is as realistic as the physical one. This guy. It's nearly the same progression for ten minutes and it's captivating all the way through. I woke up with this in my head and had to watch it. Again.
I'm watching this with headphones in a very quiet, busy office and I'm having the hardest time not bursting out with laughter! It's just so amazing it makes me giddy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who laughs at complex music Perhaps the part of the brain that processes music is the same part that processes humour....
I believe Jacob Collier is the same league, although I think he is on an even higher level. His music skills are otherwordly. But the 4 of them (and perhaps Hiromi Uehara) are our Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson and Keith Jarret of our generation.

There are few things in the world more beautiful than a human who has dedicated years to an artform and seamlessly can express the intangibles of the soul inside.
I don't know about all that, but I can definitely say he's good at what he does. Like scary good. The way Tigran does rhythm is actually amazing. Listening to Nairian Odyssey changed how I see music forever, like it's that good.
@@mcrettable That's not what anyone is saying. A musician should constantly strive to become more skilled to a point that any concept of music created inside their mind can be placed easily onto a drum kit, or keyboard, or what have you, without limitations. Tigran has dedicated his life to this instrument to be at the level he is at today. If you don't want to improve, you are wasting your own time as well as everyone else's.
@@bakedandsteaked well we're discussing two different points I think. I'm saying let musicians and artists choose their own path. Who are you to decide if someone is wasting their time working on art as a hobby or as a pasttime? At what point should people improve to? When they can play a certain piece or play a certain speed?
He used to listen rock under age of 6... But don't forget his genius so his 6 is our 26 😂. This guy is next lvl... Hope will understand this someday...
This is what true, rare, untethered mastery looks like. This is being intimate with a piano in ways few can. Endless creativity in an endless sandbox of sound and expression. The epitome of musical genius and unbound talent. To be alive during the same period as this man and to have the ability to hear and watch him play is a gratitude I'm unworthy of. Simply amazing.
Simon Besozzi I don’t know. Perhaps proficiently, Hiromi wins. But it’s the feeling of this particular song by Tigran that gives me a certain feeling. Even simple rock songs give me a certain feeling. Either way, both are too notch artists.
I don´t know man... this is probably the most astonishing, flawless and chilling, yes, chilling demonstration of musical understanding, composition and technical display I have seen in a long time... I came here from a video in my facebook account but being some short of metalhead I didn´t expect finding out something so brilliant, bright, exquisite and unique. From the bottom of my soul where this music somehow resonates vividly I cannot but lean back and let my mind be taken away. Hats off sir.

Tigran's music is always shifting moods, tempos and rhythms. This piece is a good example. It is one of the things which makes his compositions so interesting and captivating.
I saw him perform at Royce hall with an Armenian choir- it was the closest thing to actually experiencing the mysticism of music! While also having the learning experience of his activism ! Truly one of a kind merging complex jazz and other eastern classical components! Love this song

I was like yeah i like this... a lot. Then he freaking started beatboxing over it and was all like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Scary and fascinating
Ladies and gentlemen, the next Chick Corea. Oh my god that was amazing. My dumb ass brother in law walked in near the end and said it "takes no musical talent to play some stupid chords and do that beat box thing" ... I almost KICKED his ass out of the house ... and he lives with us.
