- This is the second part of the almost 200 kilometer long steam ride where we film from the German BR 23 023 of the Stoomstichting Nederland. Earlier this day we brought hundreds of passengers from Rotterdam to Arnhem, where they visited the Arnhem Open Air Museum.
This is the part from 's-Hertogenbosch to Utrecht.

Dit is het derde deel van de bijna 200 kilometer lange stoomrit waar we met onze camera's vanaf de Duitse BR 23 023 van de Stoomstichting Nederland filmen. We hebben eerder deze dag honderden passagiers van Rotterdam naar Arnhem gebracht, waar zij een bezoek brachten aan het Openluchtmuseum Arnhem. Dit is het deel van 's-Hertogenbosch naar Utrecht.

This is awesome. To see an old steamer running like clockwork at high speed alongside modern trains going about their business is amazing. You will never see anything like that in the US. Seems we must run a steamy with a diesel loco because of liability. Would be nice to know the max speed. Guessing in the neighborhood of140kph. Would love to see what's going on at the controls.
Thanks. Top speed in this video is 100 km/h. Maybe next run we will place a camera in the cab, like other rides we did this year.

@@johansilwouden3403 Yes, a simplified version which allows a max speed of 100kph.
@Tony the difference between Europe and the USA is big. The most main lines in the USA seem to be single-track. If the loco fails, the whole track is blocked for any traffic in any direction. Over here in Europe almost everywhere is double and sometimes even quad tracks, so if the steam engine fails there's always a way around it for other traffic. Also the distances are small and a rescue diesel can be dispatched quickly.

Weet uw waarom er geen Nederlandse stoomlokomotiven nog bestaan die kunnen rijen?
De ns was destijds nogal sloopgezind, helaas..

Hoe zit het eigenlijk met stoomtreinen en de ATB-plicht? Lijkt mij namelijk moeilijk toe te passen in een stoomtrein…
Ja. Dat is verplicht in stoomlocomotieven als ze over het hoofdspoor gaan dus de SSN locs hebben die ook.
Alle stoomlocs die op de hoofdbaan rijden hebben de verplichte atb. Wel een vereenvoudigde versie, die maximaal 100 km/u toelaat.
Dat is een soort koffer waar het in zit, spoelen en kabels kunnen redelijk eenvoudig worden gemonteerd.
@@CabviewHolland was daarom die stop ook ineens vlak na de start van de video, omdat de atb ingreep?
@@donmul630 Ik denk het wel ja. Met elke stoomrit die ik heb meegemaakt op het hoofdspoor, kwam dit regelmaatig voor.
