It quite funny for me, because as a child in the early 1970s, I could watch Bela Legosi's Dracula, and later the Hammer Film's Christopher Lee's Dracula on television. They gave me nightmares but I could get through them. But it took DECADES for me to finally sit through all of FW Murnau's Nosferatu. Whenever it would be shown- usually on PBS Channel 13 or 21 in the early 80s I simply couldn't take it!! It was too horrifying to watch compared to the Hollywood version, and I usually turned it off or changed channels less than 15 minutes into it. I finally watched the whole thing for the first time at university for a film class. I had to wait till i was an adult to finally get through it. FW Murnau was rare genius!
And it's just as good nearly 100 years later... Easily one of my favourite films of all time! (and my absolute favourite from before 1971, which is when my favourite film (A Clockwork Orange) came out (are you planning on doing a video on that?))
@@TheCinemathequefilms I really hope you do, as he's my favourite (non-living) director (my favourite living director being David Lynch, who I also hope you'll do some videos on).

It really is such an icon, the godfather of horror or at least scary films
