This whole Malaysia trip has been just that. I now have a much better understanding of how deep their car culture is. Nice to know our KL brethren are out there painting “11”s too.
This video gave me flashbacks. When I was studying engineering in the early 80's I had a classmate who owned a RX-3. He was the very first rotary enthusiast I had ever met. At the time I was not at all familiar with the RX-3 as there were simply were no Mazda's to speak of in the little rural towns where I grew up. I only knew of the RX-7 because its introduction made such a big splash in the magazines I read back when I was in high school. Anyway, this guy had put a lot of time and effort into modifying his RX-3 and it showed when he took me out for a spin in it Though I never caught the rotary bug myself, I'll never forget his RX-3. It was a little beast, totally unlike anything I had ever experienced before.
I don't know too much about the rotary scene but that inventory is recognizable to anyone even remotely interested in cars as insanely stacked. They're probably actively looking at the used markets and buying out all the rotaries they can, which while some would think is selfish, I think some others would appreciate because it's actually helpful to people who would need them in the future. Better they're hoarded by people who know how to work on the engine and will keep it in good condition than possibly being forgotten by aging/busy owners and rusting away.
I looked up their address and oh wow, it's actually pretty close to the elementary school I used to go to. There's another big cluster of car repair, painting and tuning places in the area, so when I was much younger I'd see all the cars while being driven home and dream of getting or working on something from there.
I know where this workshop is..if I'm not mistaken this workshop is at USJ..I used to go to several performance workshops at USJ and also at Sunway with my ex a long time ago.. a sweet memory..after finishing with the tune and setting they will go to the highway or genting or ulu yam or kuala kubu..I still remember the power of g force..it can be addictive!!
Love that shop thats one car i never had the pleasure yo work on had a buddy who love the rotary but he sadly passed on and now his son drives his car and take excellent shape and always stops by when cruising on Sunday nights
Thre is another shop at the back row, sometimes he works on olf ferarri. I think he still got customer ford sierra. I enjoy riding my moped around that area, checking cool project.
at least those cars are with good hands right now by taking it out back to the street 😃, unlike some car collector who just sealed them up in the garage
Do you know of any shops that would compete with this level of organised chaos?
