I miss Istanbul and Turkey as a whole. It's my favourite country visited so far! The food, the attractions and most of all, the people. I will be back, hopefully soon!
We are stopping on our way to Israel. Spending 4 days in Istanbul. I have been watching many you tube bloggers in the city for tips. Watched your entire Nordic series and have ideas for next year. Would love to know of some great places to eat, also is it worth purchasing spices from the spice market
I've said before, Istanbul is my favorite city in the world. People, food, transportation, and of course the history (both world and religious)... all of it is outstanding. Have you tried the Kumpir? Yum!! Yum!!
My two favorite restaurants in Istanbul are Asitane Restaurant (www.asitanerestaurant.com/English/) next to the Chora Museum and Beyti Restaurant (www.beyti.com/en/) located in Florya section. But, of course, there are many, many wonderful places in the city.
Welcome back. Local life suggestion: Another nice escape point at Kadıköy you might enjoy (if you havent been there yet) is "Nazım Hikmet Kültür Merkezi". It is a cultural center in honour of Nazım Hikmet Ran, who was one of the greatest poets in our history with his poems for freedom, equality, peace and so on. However it is very local experience to have tea in the mornings for quiet moments or a beer in the evening when it is more alive, in its garden. You might even pick a day to go when there is a concert of Turkish musicians there to feel even more local. Enjoy your stay👋
For shopping; I can list quite a few shopping malls in Istanbul: Zorlu Center, Istinye Park, Emaar Square Mall, Akasya Avm, Kanyon Avm, Ozdilek Park, Cevahir Avm, Aqua Florya, Hilltown Avm and so on.. For supermarkets, Migros is the best option but Carrefour is also good. Macrocenter has quality products but they are so much expensive. For street shopping; Nisantasi is the best area imo, there are good places in Kadikoy and Bakirkoy as well, but they are not so much tourist friendly. And finally for the best döner in Istanbul, go to Bayramoglu Doner in Kavacik, but try to avoid the weekends as it is way too crowded at the weekends.
Hi Josh & Ashley, I love that you went back to Turkey! Hey, so nice that you are filming in Istanbul this year, too! I lived there one year as an exchange student in 2011-2012 and I've got a Turkish husband. I use to live close to Kadiköy and it's so cool to see your vlogs from there and recognize familiar places. You just went to my local mall for example! I still remember that Migros supermarket downstairs. I'm really looking forward your daily life vlogs. It is nice change and I still remember how your vlogs were on your first 2 years and I enjoyed them a lot. It's also interesting to see how the city has changed in 7 years. I could already spot new things and one of the biggest changes is probably Marmaray. They didn't have that when I lived there and you just had to take a metro bus to cross to the European side.
Hope your feeling fully recovered Ashley...gotta take time for yourself an slow down sometimes...Turkey looks so beautiful.nice to see it all through your eyes.Enjoy your time there an getting together with friends.I watch all thier channels as well.you all bring something a little different.
Welcome! You should go to Koşuyolu if you haven’t go, that place is very close with Ayrılıkçeşme. That’s a small but so peaceful place. You can find there good cafes or restaurans. Bon voyage!
guys you should try breakfast at "van kahvaltı" it's located in beyoğlu area (European side). also for the best city view of bosphorus, check "mimar sinan" restaurant in süleymanie area (European side). ENJOY!
Glad you’re feeling better Ashley, and Istanbul looks like a great place to recuperate! You should visit the north of England when you’re in the uk, come stay with me in Wakefield! We’ve got the Yorkshire sculpture park, beautiful countryside, the best curry, and so close to Leeds and Manchester too x x
Yay for Turkey, the UK, and Kinging It! 3wks is a long time under the weather, I'm so happy that Ashley is feeling better ♥️ I've been to Izmir, but not Istanbul yet; I've heard it's amazing and can't wait to see what you've got to show us! When you're in Brighton, check out Pinsent Tailoring, as well as Oliver's Brighton (if you enjoy Harry Potter).
Visiting Istanbul & Athens for the 1st time for our year end vacation. Tokyo is like my second home.....been going there annually since 2013 but can’t get bored of that place
There are many things to do. Now, first one comes my mind and the one you haven’t seen I think “Bomonti ada” would be nice to visit which is the oldest beer factory from 1800s in İstanbul. Now it’s a recreation area with awesome restaurants, bars and social events. The factory gives its name to district called “Bomonti” I’m pretty sure that you gonna love there. Before you go there you can check for the event takes place. It’s s 10 min walk from osmanbey metro station. Have fun 🤹🏻♂️🤹🏻♂️
We have just not long been in Bristol as my step son and his family live there, it will be cool to see you somewhere where I have now been :) walk the suspension bridge it has good views and history and Wales is a must it is so close. Enjoy
Nice to see you again in Istanbul. Let me give you some advice. You should go to Çengelköy in Üsküdar because this place has an amazing view in the evenings in Erbab Restaurant or mornings you can have breakfast in Tarihi Çınaraltı Çay Bahçesi in Çengelköy with eating Çengelköy Börek that is definitely very famous and delicious. You can go there by taking 15B bus from Üsküdar Coast. Have a nice trip.
My suggestions for Brighton: the north laines including snooper’s paradise, and a mocha at small batch coffee. Do not miss to pay a visit to Seven Sisters Cliffs.
