Water, sugar & fruit.. Oh, LEMONADE? Water, Cucumber & a pinch of sugar? Hangover Helper, that’s been in my Italian family forever.
Putting fresh fruit in water isn’t a “Mexican” thing. It’s a PEOPLE thing because it tastes good. The Japanese do it with flowers AND fruit, do they need to call Mexico?

Alcohol was letting fruit rot, aka “ferment”, Bears eat enough rotten apples they get drunk, I’ve seen it & that’s how Humans figured out “booze”. They watched animals eat rotted fruit! Was that “appropriation” too? Do we need to thank the squirrels, bears, monkeys, raccoons, & deer for showing us “the way”?
I do thank Monks & Egyptians for beer, aka “liquid fermented bread”! That’s exactly wear that comes from & for Egypt, “beer” was “slave rations”… by Woke Logic we should remove beer, I say let’s have a month to celebrate it! (Oktoberfest!! LMAO)

@Miércoles Gómez so a Mexican person come up with this and your claiming your entire culture has rights to it.. doesn't make sense.. its a different thing to say it's a Mexican dish or something, but to think you own someone else's discovery or whatever because you are from the same culture, is ridiculous.. ppl like you trying to gate keep other ppls ideas and ride its recognition as if its yours is ridiculous..

The black man who helped create Jack Daniels was by the standard of his day well rewarded for his efforts. He was employed by the distillery and was paid quite well. He was not a slave his entire life and his family did benefit. In fact today there is a new distillery that produces his original recipes. My understanding his descends are creating a premium product and doing quite well.
Edit: researchers say he eventually is absent from the records but two of his son's became master distillers with the company.
His descendents are involved in the new venture but maybe not the owners.
Thanks for the additional info, something about that didn't sound right
That’s great to hear the actual history instead of the tired argument of “all black people have always been, still are, and will always be poor and unsuccessful.”
He had a recipe. Would he have had the capital or marketed it? We'll never know. 🤷♀️
I went to the distillery not too long ago and he was well taken care of. In fact I’m pretty sure one or some of his defendants are still employed there now
That’s just it. It will never be enough. Never. If for whatever reason they decide to give “reparations” to that family, in 50 years you’ll have another academic claiming “it would be nice if that family benefit”. And you’d get another batch of brainlets demanding “reparations” again. Rinse and repeat.

Spa is originally from Belgium, from a natural reserve near the city called Spa.
According to the wiki page, the drink became a thing in the late 16th century. That is over two centuries before Mexico declared independence from the Spanish.
All of that is aside from the fact that people drink flavored water everywhere in the world and have always done so.

@@brandonliddy6389 those damn Aztecs appropriated the culture of the Olmecs. Clearly the only solution is for everyone to go back to a point where nothing was taken from anyone by living in the dirt, naked and trying to fight of the animals with sticks. I remember my Spanish teacher a few years ago telling us how important food is in communicating, cultures mixing and making connections. There’s a reason we have the expression “break bread”
Heck its used many times in various religions for the same thing. Take the bible. Much of the food there is shared with guests. When new comers came to a town and were welcomed. They shared their dishes with them. They didnt make "outsider" food. They welcomed them in. It didnt make them part of the culture, it welcomed them to befriend the culture. And those last 3 words i just said are the key here. Befriend a culture. When we claim "appropriation" all your doing is dividing people and outcasting people.
We kind of mixed this 'cultural appropriation' and spined it to be hateful for no reason, when it should be "culture appreciation" we gotta appreciate what we have and what others also have and share between one another. Many great food were created this way and may end up being a part of our tradition or even its own thing, anything is good as long as it can bring different people together.
Breaking bread is an act of sharing. not take my stuff, rename it and profit off of it.
@@Overitlogically profiting off to actual video not the water itself you stupid dumbass
There is no such thing as cultural appropriation.
Recipes aren’t protected by copyright. So, anyone can make money of them. That’s why your grandma don’t tell you her secret recipes 😊
Not exactly. There's a thing called a patent. You can patent just about anything. Now, when that patent expires and isn't renewed, then it's pretty much a free for all.
You have to be careful publishing recipes for monetary gain. If your recipe is too much like someone else's unique published recipe, you could be sued.
