Figure or Fodder? SHF Ant-Man and Harry Potter, Dragon Stars Goku, SWB Moloch, and Revoltech Review

- Or rather: Robo decides to open up a few toys all at once so he can play with MORE. Today it's the S.H. Figuarts Ant-Man and Ant set, Dragon Star Goku, Star Wars Black Series Moloch, S.H. Figuarts Harry Potter, and the KT Project KT-022 Takeya Style Jizai Okimono Vajrayaksa (Kongouyasyamyouou) Woodcraft figure that I could only pronounce a few words from. Mostly "action figure" and "revoltech" and I sometimes question my pronunciation of Revoltech.

Obviously the S.H. figuarts DBZ figures are better, but for the price point they damn well better be the superiors figures lol. I'm actually very impressed with the Dragon Star line given that they are mass retail figures. They're a fine line to collect if you can't bring yourself to justify the price tag associated with import figures.
@Mighty Raccoon We can only hope! Marvel Legends has slowly been incorporating sculpted nipples into the design of their figures (Namor, Jackal, MCU Hulk, etc.) so i guess toy companies are finally realizing that sculpted nipples are the way to go.
Exactly. I have always wanted a Mystic Gohan but SHF ones are way out of my budget. I chanced upon a Dragon Stars one for very cheap (CAD $15) and it's really good. Infact their sculpt is getting better with the newer waves.
That smiling Harry head looks like Nic Cage to a scary degree.

I also purchased the KT-022 Kongoyasha Myoo (which I ordered after seeing the first video you posted mentioning it) and had the EXACT same problems; finish was not as depicted; the arrow hand hole was too small, and that upper-left hand was not the right hand/sculpt. My sword actually broke-off when I went to separate the grip to insert it into his hand, so I had to glue it together in his hand. I also had to drill-out the arrow hand to get the arrow to fit.
Anyway, to get my figure to hold the wheel: I used some flush-cut nippers to separate the thumb from the hand, and then clipped off a small part of the index finger (not quite as wide as the wheel) so I could position the wheel in that space while being held by the thumb.
I still like it as a figure -- it's just such a weird, stand-out piece in my collection -- but I don't think I'll be adding a lot more Revoltech to my collection ... except I LOVE the look of the upcoming KT Project Medama Oyaji.
I have just about every piece in the Takeyashiki Buddhist pantheon so far, and they are usually fantastic. The QC is not as good as it has been for the other pieces in the line, as you experienced (pieces not fitting properly, et cetera). I did get the full-color version of it, though, and it really does look gorgeous compared to the "wood" version.
The Figuarts Harry Potter line is gonna break me!!! Both of my daughters love Harry Potter as much as I do..so I'll have to order 3!!! So glad you reviewed him!!! Liked the new intro! Bet Gus looks cool on the big ant! Thanks for all you do for us!!!

Great review. I appreciate the Dragon Star review. I’ve been seeing those figures for a while and was close to buying them especially since they have a BAF with them. After seeing you mess with it I was definitely unimpressed.
Yeah I want to like dragon stars but they make it hard its nice that they have characters & style the others don't though & can't wait for the broly build a figure
The Harry Potter is on its way as a gift for my girlfriend. Glad to see it's a good figure. Not that I was really worried, it's SHF, but a new line always brings some concerns. BTW. Robo, is there a peg in the back to plug in a SHF stand? I have an extra SHF stand but I'm not sure how it connects with the robe and all.
There is no hole, looks like you have to kind of wedge it between the robe and the body. Weird, now that you mention it.

Moloch is probably my sleeper Black Series figure of the year. I had to eBay for it, as it's never turning up at retail here in Australia, and waited a while before bothering to order. But needed to order a couple of things to use a discount code (Bespin Leia was the other figure) and I was surprised at how cool Moloch actually is. I didn't even remember him from the movie, but definitely a cool figure.

The Revoltech Buddhist Guardian Demon’s weapons ain’t all weapons. The “double claw” weapon at 16:33 is actually a dorje (Tibetan symbolic thunderbolt) and the “chalice” at around 16:23 is a bell with a dorje for a handle. The wagon wheel (chakra) is symbolic for the dharma (Buddhist teachings) but was used as a weapon by some gods (like Vishnu and Krishna).
Wait a minute! The Harry Potter figure's alt faces has the infamous scar but there aren't any alternate hair to show the scar?? WTF?!
That's a shame...

I have some of the KT samurai skeletons and love them but they are a bit dainty in their size. They could scale up just a hair.

I’ll probably wait on moloch till clearance. I think it’s crazy that Hasbro has the audacity to charge $10 more for a marginally larger figure, when these $30 “deluxe figures aren’t much bigger (or bigger at all) than previous $20 Hasbro releases like Chewie, Groot, thanos, etc.

That's Kongouyasha Myoo xD, one of the Great Kings, a diety that symbolizes strength and is the destroyer of the foolish human desires. The hook or claws you are referring to is actually a five-pronged vajra and the other one is a vajra-bell. The stand is part of the "statue" is not an optional part. But I don't understand why they made a Japanese Buddhist deity into a poseable figure xD.
Can't help you with the wheel, it might be a factory mistake or ...did you try to put one of the ends of the wheel in his fist? I know it sounds dumb but that's all I got! Great review as always!
Figure or Fodder ? is such a good idea for a mini-show. Anyways, Harry is even better looking in person (as I'm sure Robo could agree upon), so yeah, the main flaw is the lack of a base for flying poses. I would have liked for an older rendition, but on the other hand, if these don't sell, not even Snape is going to get released. I HATED Ant-man and The Wasp but this figure is kinda better in a couple of regards than the SHF Civil War Ant-man so I wish I waited but oh well.
My Harry Potter (well, it's for my girlfriend, really) is on its way. But I was wondering if there is a plug in his back to plug in a stand for a flight pose on his broom, or if you have to wedge the stand between his back and his robe? Also, I enjoyed Ant-Man and the Wasp a lot despite it's flaws but I might get this Ant-Man. It looks better than the Civil War version. I don't know if I want to get him if there is no Wasp coming up
There is no hole in his back so you're going to have to kind of wedge it. And they showed a Wasp at one of the shows but haven't solicited it yet.
Any chance of a collection update? Those shelves must be looking pretty full by now.

That Takeyashiki Figure looked similar to a semi important statue in the Spider-man PS4 game. There's mission at a museum and I think it is the 1st Mary Jane mission. Anyways I'm a sucker for Dragon Ball figures and Harry Potter figures so I get the impulse to just buy it lol.
Wow, that Takeyashiki is disappointing. The box made it seem huge.
This whole line of figures is pretty underwhelming; I purchased a few more after getting (and liking) this one, and finding out how inexpensive some of these are now. This KT-022 figure is probably the best of the bunch. Fujin and Raijin are pretty good, but not for their prices. Manufacture quality overall isn't great.
The full-color versions are more satisfying. If you research the historical statues or artwork that these figures are based on, the figures become much richer for their originality and uniqueness. For example, the Kongouyasha Myo-o is one of the five (sometimes eight) Buddhist wisdom kings. A much earlier one, Fudou-Myo-o, another wisdom king, is a popular Buddhist figure across Japan. Though I have gripes of my own (way long ago, the figure of Tamonten is shorter than the other three Cardinal direction kings, even though he is their king. But definitely, I'd say the full-color versions are better--their detail stands out much better and color variation gives them more character.

The Yamaguchi looks awesome, I reckon if you combined it with the Sinbad skeleton the did a few years back you could get some great stop motion animation going! Just needs a more skilled man than me to do it!

SHF is such a mixed bag in termms of the amount of details. On one hand we have figures such as Maul or TLJ Luke with incredible texture on the fabric, while on the other figures as plain as dooku or this Harry Potter.... I wish they got their lines up to the standard of Maul and Luke.
Loved the review especially the part with the dude from solo...that Revoltech figure is an old Revo rereleased and recolored...I just hate Revoltech and yet I ordered psylocke 😒 I have issues also

That revoltech character is based on a Buddhist deity or myth, vajra is that dumbell looking thing that has lightning power or something. You can see those mostly in Nepal as well as sword looks like from manjushree
the dragon stars series has gotten way better.
I saw them in a shop last week and they did seem to look better.
The Fwoosh yeah and the newer ones have much better Articulation the one in this review was a repaint if one drone series 2 which wasn’t a very good wave other then Goku black who really is a stand out figure right through best range of elbows i’ve seen in a figure!

Dragon Star Goku kaioken Blue looks great for $20 are you kidding me, Ill admit some of them look off, like Jiren and Vegeta Blue but the price point is part of the appeal.
And I completely understand that, I even said that if you're looking for a cheaper line, get these. But if you're wanting something better, pay for the imports. I don't personally like them though.

Cant tell if they ever fixed the faces on the dragon stars the ssj vegata and goku ive seen in stores looked like the faces were kinda flat. Though the freeza is pretty good for a stand in for me atm
